Romney disses the British on their Olympic operation ……

Good ole Mitt Romney….

Get’s off the plane and promptly inserts foot in mouth!

‘Only he can run an Olympics?”

He’s a great prospect for the President of the USA!

hosted2.ap.org….Romney stepping out of 10 Downing Street…The PM’s house

Mitt Romney jetted across the Atlantic this week, partly to escape the stature-diminishing grind of the daily campaign — but he arrived to find an adversary every bit as ferocious as President Barack Obama’s Chicago crew: the British press.

Romney’s critique of this country’s preparations for the Olympic Games caused a firestorm in the London-based media Thursday, putting the Republican presidential hopeful on damage-control duty and ensuring that a trip meant to remind American voters about his leadership of the 2002 Winter Olympics and his diplomatic bona fides began on a sour note.

By the evening here, Romney had become part of a rallying cry, meant to fire up proud Britons.

“There’s a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we are ready!” London Mayor Boris Johnson bellowed to a crowd in Hyde Park. “Are we ready? Yes we are!”

It wasn’t supposed to go like this.

After a day spent gripping and grinning with Great Britain’s past and present political elite, Romney was to have emerged from 10 Downing Street looking every bit the president-in-waiting.

But even before he began taking questions from reporters, the candidate knew he had to douse water on Fleet Street’s flames.

“I applaud the work the organizers did in bringing the Olympic experience right into the heart of London,” Romney said in his prepared remarks.

That was a touch more soothing to the Great British ego than what led to the trans-Atlantic flap.

Primary results 2012: Mitt Romney ‘s 5-state sweep

Mitt and Ann Romney greet the crowd Tuesday. | AP Photo There was little suspense in tonight’s elections. Only in Delaware, where Newt Gingrich camped out in recent days and collected endorsements from top local officials, was Romney at any risk of losing. Even a Gingrich victory there would have been unlikely to complicate Romney’s glide to the Republican convention in Tampa. (Also on POLITICO: GOP delegate tracker) But with nearly all of the vote reported, Romney was crushing Gingrich in Delaware by a 30-percentage-point margin. Speaking to supporters in Manchester, N.H., Romney declared a formal end to the primary season and predicted: “Together, we are going to win on Nov. 6.” “After 43 primaries and caucuses, many long days and more than a few long nights, I can say with confidence and gratitude that you have given me a great honor and solemn responsibility,” he said, framing the general election as a test of the country’s economic resilience. Said Romney: “The last few years have been the best that Barack Obama can do. But it’s not the best America can do.” Romney has not yet secured enough delegates to clinch the GOP nomination officially, but he has already been treated by his party as its presumptive nominee for two weeks, since Rick Santorum ended his White House bid earlier this month. Mitt Romney may be lousy….His Campaign isn’t……

Last night I re-read the John Hellemann  piece written right after last weeks Arizona debate…..

About half way into the piece that basically states that the Republican party has got itself into the mess that finds itself in now in the nomination race…

Hellermann writes this about about how Mitt Romney’s campaign apparatus chewed up Newt Gingrich and spit him out….

Sure Newt helped but in all the noise ….

The media ….And indeed most of us miss this….

An hour or so after the Republican debate in Jacksonville on January 26, Romney’s chief strategist, Stuart Stevens, was in the spin room employing his iPad as a weapon. Stevens asked if I knew how many times Gingrich was mentioned in Reagan’s memoir. Calling up the text onscreen andsearching the document, he revealed the answer: zero. Stevens then asked the same about a different memoir—Jack Abramoff’s. Here the number of mentions was larger: thirteen. Stevens asked, “What does that tell you?” I ventured, “That Newt is full of shit?” Stevens: “You said it, buddy.”

Stevens’s parlor trick was a minor, albeit delightful, element of the two-front assault waged by Team Romney on Gingrich in Florida: strafing him from the air with negative ads and badgering him on the ground, which involved not only working the press but sending operatives to Gingrich’s every event to offer instant rebuttals. One objective here was to refute Gingrich’s claims to being at once instrumental to the Reagan Revolution and a Washington outsider; another was to rattle him, to piss him off, to get inside his head.

Together with two stellar debate showings by Romney, the anti-Newt incursion accomplished all that and more, driving Gingrich to fits of defensive distraction, undisguised irritation, and an in toto effort in Florida that was every bit as feeble as his South Carolina bid had been robust. And in its indiscipline, lassitude, and wackiness—how many news cycles did he squander on that freaking lunar colony?—it made manifest why he was never a plausible Republican nominee…….

Folks…..

Mitt Romney keeps screwing up when he opens his mouth…

But Mitt Romney STILL leads the field….

He is still the man EVERYONE is trying to knock off…

And that because of his campaign organization…

Not particularly him….

We look back to how Romney got slugged by Cain, Perry, Newt and now Santorum….

We see a Republican who HAS money…

Who CAN’T tell a story without backing up….

You HAS learned to attack…

(He got the best of Santorum last week…..Just like he got the best of Newt)

A week ago Rick Santorum was tearing up the polling charts….

Now HE is fighting for HIS political future……

Low on money……

Described by even Republican’s as a ‘throw back’ to the 1950′s….

And has the headache of having the Romney people defining him as the past Washington ‘Insider’ he was……

Let me finish this piece by reminding everyone…..

Rick Santorum IS the Blue collar, white guy, who wants to tell females to stay barefoot and pregnant…..

If he wins the GOP nomination……

With little or no organization and less money….

Being a Washington insider that was liked just a hair more than Newt……

It will be because in the end….

If the guy who has run a dogged campaign….

Looping off ALl of his opponents …..

STILL can’t make it as the parties BEST/WORST Choice against a younger challenger who appeals to a segment of the American population

That is shrinking everyday under the weight of a country moving into the 21st Century…..

In this Dogs mind….

The GOP REALLY does NOT want to elect a President….

And I’m ALL for that…..

Obama WILL WIN

It IS just that simple…

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews starting at Romney’s ‘unscripted moments’….

I got a chance to look in on Chris Matthews  (With Dana Milbank )’Hard Ball’ tonight and guess what I saw?

Mitt Romney…..

Lots of Mitt Romney…..

Portrait of Mitt Romney

Trying to be ‘one of the guys’ during unscripted encounters with Joe and Jane regular citizens….

It wasn’t pretty….

Mitt Romney’s dad was George Romney the Governor of Michigan

Mitt Romney overlooks theChrysler exhibit at the 1964 New York World’s Fair with his father,Michigan governor George Romney

Mitt attended public schools up to 7th Grade , then was moved to private schools…

After a stint in  France as his family ‘s Mormon tradition dictated he went off to Brigham Young University and then off to Harvard for a combined Law and Business graduate degree…

The man is certainly smart….

After all this schooling he went of to business…doing consulting and then running businesses…

I give you this abbreviated history to point out one thing…

Mitt Romney is no ordinary around the block guy….

Smart…

Yes regular Joe….

Nope…

So here I am watching Chris Matthews who is laughing …

As he goes on a little journey…

He parades before us several clips of Romney trying to be a regular ‘unscripted’ guy…

Matthews people show him making bad jokes, bad moves, covering his butt after realizing that he’s said things he shouldn’t and being stiff in public encounters….

After watching this me and another guy watching the tube exchanged glances…..

We both got up and left the room….

Matthews was still smirking after dragging the current GOP front runner for President in 2012 thru the mud….

Repeatedly…..

Here’s the link on this….

Note …..Matthews does admitt on camera that he WAS being unfair……                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         From Politicaldog101…..

Daniel…… Election 2012 New Hampshire: Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) leads VERY FIRST New Hampshire Presidential Primary Survey……

Hello Dog Folks!

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) is the Frontrunner in the VERY FIRST Survey of the Granite State according to Public Policy Polling if he choses to run in two years time.

Public Policy Polling Survey

Republican Presidential Nomination

New Hampshire Primary

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney  39 %
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin  13 %
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee  11 %
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich  11 %
Texas Congressman Ron Paul  7 %
Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty  3 %
Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour  1 %
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum  1 %
Undecided  13 %

Analysis:

VERY INTERESTING Results indeed. Never thought Palin would be near the Front in New Hampshire.

Daniel G.

The Dog is not surprised at all…In just about every preference poll in the last 6 months he leads..not by much…but he’s the front runner…..

My feeling is Sarah Palin is a media character…Not really in the running since she would be the first Female for the GOP and don’t think most of the leaders of the party would seriously consider a female first..and her second…..

I caution everyone…..in the last few elections American’s tend to pick young…and untested National males to lead the country….Obama, Bush II and Clinton fit that mold….Romany does not……

Add to that the fact that Romney has a moderate history……

And  I hate to mention it..but there’s the Mormon thing that will come up if he lasts as the GOP leader of the pack…..

More to come…..

Thanks Daniel……

Oh, yea…I didn’t mention Healthcare and the fact that NH is close to Mass………

5 Reasons why Romney’s Political Career isn’t Dead…….

From Marc Ambinder @ TheAtlantic……

In politics, it’s very easy to predict the future.

Doing it accurately is near impossible.

The entire political establishment suffers from anchor-bias illness: we place way too much importance on the last major event in a series when trying to figure out whether it will bear on the future. Health reform that looks like Mitt Romney’s version in Massachusetts passes Congress? Romney’s political career is over because Republicans are united in opposition to that health care legislation. That’s anchor bias — the same type of bias that consigned the Democratic majority to history the day after Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in Massachusetts — the same type of cognitive error that Barney Frank made on the night of Brown’s victory when he said, well, maybe we ought to slow down again.  Human beings are very bad at figuring out how long an effect will last, and very bad at predicting how events they cannot anticipate will influence future probabilities. On this reason alone, we should be wary of assuming that the former Massachusetts governor’s political over is over. Here are four more:

Amen……

Contrary to Ambinder…Romney ‘s future will be decided by his party and the right…..who will have to decide if they can stomach a past moderate leaning Massachusetts Governor……

Mitt Romney leads the tight 2012 GOP Sweepstakes for President right now……

mitt_romney_mormon.jpg

Romney Leads Close Republican Race

A new Public Policy Polling survey finds Mitt Romney leading Republican 2012 presidential race with 28% support, followed by Mike Huckabee at 24% and Sarah Palin at 23% and Ron Paul at 11%. However, the only reason Romney leads is that conservatives are split between multiple candidates.

“The main takeaway from these numbers? There continues to not really be a Republican front runner.”

The Dog wants to know..Can Conservative’s live with this?
