The ACORN tapes…looking for something, not really there?

The group ACORN, hired an outside counsel to investigate the infamous tapes shot by James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles in October, in which the two entered ACORN offices asking for advice…the tapes where later used by the GOP to disgrace the organization and it’s services ……The lawyer,  a former Massachusetts Attorney general, by the name of Scott Harshbarger reported this………

“We did not find a pattern of intentional, illegal conduct by ACORN staff; in fact, there is no evidence that action, illegal or otherwise, was taken by any ACORN employee on behalf of the videographers.”

Harshbarger did say some of the advice given by the staffers was “clearly inappropriate and unprofessional.” He advises the group to return its focus to community organizing and to hire an independent ethics officer.

Congress, riled by the Republicans after the tapes came out , has since reexamined its reluctance to have the group receive any federal funding…and the organization is now countersuing to ‘recoup its loses’…..

Was this a political ‘hit job’…or what?

Update on the DNC weekend meetings…..

The Democratic National Committee met over the weekend, and here’s what has come out……..

Frank Leone, a DNC member from Viriginia, reports on the weekend’s meetings to schedule 2012 presidential nominating contests.

“As to timing, the discussion was relatively brief and consistent with prior discussions — Iowa/NH/SC/Nevada can go after Feb. 1, every other state goes after March 1, the rules should encourage regional clusters by offering incentives such as bonus delegates, the RBC will address enforcement procedures and sanctions, and the DNC will try to coordinate timing with the RNC rules committee. The RNC coordination process is ongoing.”

We’ll see…..

A couple of state’s (Florida and Michigan) didn’t stick to the rules did they?

And I say get rid of the caucuses..they stink…….

Linda McMahon of the WWE is serious, and is working on being the GOP frontrunner in the Connecticut senate primary…..

Vince McMahon’s wife wants to be the next Senator from Connecticut…and she is trying to wrestle her way to the top of group of candidates running to become the GOP choice in the Connecticut State GOP primary…..She’s behind Rob Simmons (R-Conn) by only 11%…two others in the now three person race, dropped out……and McMahon has pledged to spend upwards of $50 million if she has too…..

The problem she will have to deal with, will be that the media will put her on trial, with the WWE…..and we all know they have had few black eyes from the wrestling juggernaut channel………

We will have to see of the lady can fight her way to the top in politics….

He, he, he…she has been known to get into the ring…….And she’s in this time…..

And interview with a former Iraqi translator…that wrote his MA thesis on William Faulker…..and need for a thank you…and new home….

During the war in Iraq hundreds of Iraq’s helped the United States, British and other countries troops do their jobs as translators……for a good many of them, that help cost them their lives by that hands of their countrymen who exacted revenge on them for aiding the troops…..I have to post this story on a man, and his family who are England, while he completes his studies in American literature…..

If there is something that the author  of the piece, Brian Turner, a former solider for seven years, who served in Iraq, wants for this Iraqi, and his family, is that American returns to him a thank you……and way for him the complete his studies…..and a way for him to not go back to a place that may represent danger for him, and his family……

He gave for the British and the United States….to offer back to him any less is wrong……

And this story should not end with this man..all of the Iraqi’s who served with and for the United States, should be looked after…….

The Washington and Media power games begin on the 'surge' decision…….

I did a long post yesterday on the process pieces that came out in all the major media outlets on late Saturday…there must have been an off the record briefing …because right after all these people posted their stories……now the garbage part is playing out…..

Anyone who is tuned into this stuff (I am, because I write this blog) immediately picks up on the trail laid in this morning…..that is the President Obama ….the Commander-in-Chief gave General Stanley McCrystal essentially what he asked for in the summer for as his tolls to do the job in Afghanistan……

SO WHAT?

The General has been doing what he does for decades…he IS the expert.….

As I write in my post…all the heavies told him not to ask for troops….he did

The heavies….. Once  they knew he wasn’t going to back off backed up and let him walk the tight rope by himself…..

Obama sent for the General when he was in England during the summer and had a face to face sit down aboard Air Force One…..the heavies where not there

McCrystal is a warrior…not a big time politician…although, by getting to be general you do have top play politics….

In the end…Obama really had no choice….McChrystal was just showing his boss the right path once President Obama decided wasn’t going to be the guy to lose Afghanistan without a fight…

Really people….everyday bosses all over the plant get great idea’s from the people working below them……

And the President is the Commander-in-Chief.….Only he can sign off on the moves…..

For Obama to have somehow pulled this strategy out from under a rock is preposterous……

Give both of theses men credit for not letting their ego’s get the way of solving a problem….there are too many lives involved to do it any other way……

The TARP cost will be $200 Billion less…….

In more good news for the Obama administration, and further proof that the economy is recovering….The Treasury Department reports that over the next ten years, the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) fund will reguire $200 billion less than expected….The banks have already paid back $70 billion earlier than expected and the reduced need to help financial markets which have not asked for more money (and don’t want the government in their business if they take the money)……the Treasury has also made $10 Billion in interest from some of the bailout paper they invested in to prop up financial institutions….

While this sounds good…myself and others advised that all this would happen since the same thing occurred when the government came to the rescue of Chrysler and the Airline industry in the past and made money then also…..contrary to the doubtful media talking heads…all of the things done by the Obama administration and Hank Paulson going out the door were tried and true fixes to the economic problems that confronted them…..

Like anyone else..the argument will be between Congress and the White House on what to do with the money set aside, but not needed…like kids in a toy store, they will no doubt be thinking of all sort of things to spend the money on…..

The Treasury expects to recover more than $175 Billion by the end of next year…not bad ……

Look for a jobs Stimulus bill in the early spring…….

Space travel will be available to anyone with money…. soon……

Virgin Galactic will soon offer two and half hour  suborbital space trips aboard its custom spacecraft, SpaceShip Two……the $200,000 rides are being booked already……and they expect the rides to include up to five minutes of weightlessness…..the service expects to begin in 2011, and operate from New Mexico…..with six passengers and a crew of two …it will be the first commercial trips offered into space and will end the monopoly of governmental space travel……

And they won’t be alone for long…several other groups are right behind them in offering the service……

Maybe NASA can figure out a way to get back some of the money we’ve given them….. huh?
