Blackberry Tour Review…..6 out of 10 dots……

From the people over at wired.com…..

Tiny Improvements Add Up in BlackBerry Tour

You’re craving a smartphone. But maybe you, I don’t know, want to send multimedia messages, not just 160-character texts. Or tether it to your notebook for wireless internet access. Or use it for more than a few hours before the battery goes dead. You know what phone you don’t want. Instead, consider the new Blackberry Tour from Verizon. Its e-mail and social-networking features are ideal for constant communicators, though its web browser and voice calling leave something to be desired.

Designated as a the successor to the very capable Curve, the handset features a sharp 2.4-inch screen that displays pictures in beautiful clarity, plus a 3.2 megapixel camera. The full QWERTY keyboard looks prohibitively small, but is surprisingly easy to use. Even the signature trackball made it simple to scroll through websites, e-mails and menus.

Taking the browser for a spin, we found web pages loaded pretty quickly but in impossibly small type. You can zoom in on the text but the display then forces you to scroll left to right repeatedly to read each line. We opted for squinting.

Setting up the phone is a breeze. We had Gmail messages pushed to the device, along with text messages, IMs and MMS within a few minutes. We set up accounts on the pre-loaded Flickr, Facebook and MySpace quickly, and downloading new apps (there are more than 2,000 applications available) was even easier.

Between downloading a slew of apps and compulsively checking various communication outlets, we were dangerously low on battery by the day’s end (not dead mind you.) In normal, less frenetic use, the battery lasted about 12 hours before going kaput.

Somewhere during the third day of testing we actually made a flurry of calls with the phone. Quality was slightly lackluster: Friends and family consistently complained about frequent static and popping on the other end.

But the Tour is still a solid upgrade from the Curve. Its got a slightly brighter screen, a slightly upgraded operating system (OS v4.7 versus OSv4.6), and a faster processor than the Curve (a 528-MHz processor versus 512-MHz). But all of these little things add up to big payoff. If you’re looking for a subtle upgrades for your smartphone you might want to take a Tour.

WIRED Superb multimedia playback on music, video and pics. Extremely bright and colorful screen was still easy to see in direct sunlight. RIM makes it dead simple to hook up the phone to receive your e-mail, Twitter and Facebook updates.

TIRED Call quality is sub-par. Some screen lag when we started using the phone, but it eventually stopped. Teeny tiny browser fonts gave us migraines.

  • Style: Multimedia
  • Service Provider: Verizon Wireless
  • Camera Resolution: 3.1 to 5 megapixels
  • Manufacturer: RIM
  • Price: $150 (with a two-year contract)

Note:……Sorry I don’t text…..Really…I don’t…just the computer keyboard…that’s it…..

Scott Brown wins the Mass Special Senate Seat!……

In a result that no one…I really mean …..no one could have forcasted…..Scott Brown, the Republican running for the Senate Seat held by the Teddy Kennedy…….has won…..

The Dog congratulates Scott Brown, the winner……

Martha Coakley the state’s Attorney General, and a Democrat…has managed to do what was done in the last two major races in New Jersey and Virgina…… she  literally threw the race away…….going vacation during the Holidays, making the Curt Shillings ‘Yankee’ mikstake…and not campaigning seriously until the last week…..( nevermind that Obama made the trip on Sunday….he did that in New Jersey, and Democrats lost that one also)

This from the Boston Globe……

Republican Scott Brown pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Massachusetts political history tonight, defeating Democrat Martha Coakley to become the state’s next United States senator and potentially derail President Obama’s hopes for a health care overhaul.

The victory caps a dramatic surge in recent days as Brown, a state lawmaker from Wrentham once thought to have little chance of beating a popular attorney general, roared ahead of Coakley to become the first Republican senator elected from Massachusetts since 1972.

With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Brown had 52 percent and Coakley had 47 percent.

In a race that became the center of national attention, Brown’s win is widely seen as a vote against the president’s agenda from one of the most reliably Democratic states. And in a particularly ironic twist, Brown, in succeeding Edward M. Kennedy — the late liberal lion who deemed health care “the cause of my life” — may well be the 41st vote to prevent the Democratic-led plan from moving forward.

While Republicans around the country may be excited….the Dog says this…….

ok… tonight…you  people sound like the Democrats right after Obama won….the Democrats are not going to table everything and just sit there with their thumbs up their you know what……

Also…….

…..This is a message to one person…..

PRESIDENT OBAMA…He can no longer just cruise above the fray…he has to get his hands dirty….to sell his programs (starting with Healthcare) and providing cover for the troops in Congress…they can survive together..or they sink together….

Note:……here’s a link to th Boston Globe chrono……

Ah, this is another one Merlin the magician got right…in the end……nobody could grasp this one…and most of the pollster’s… hedgeed their bets……

Tiger Woods is probably going for help……

Tiger Woods is being treated for sex addiction at a posh clinic down South, a journalist and author of a book on the affliction said yesterday.

Benoit Denizet-Lewis, a recovering sex addict, said a source with knowledge of the golfer’s treatment has confirmed Woods is at Pine Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Miss.

I somehow feel that sex isn’t Tiger ‘s problem…..and that somehow he is dealing with the loss of his father…being thrown into the spot light at aearly age…high expectations…..and just being lonely……

The questions will be… when gets out…..

Does he still stay with his wife?

Does he still have the drive to win?

And who is he going to be?

I wish all the luck in the world…..its been tough being Tiger up to this point…..

Nike Max A Lot sneakers……New Air Jordan 12 Retro PE update…and Supra Cuban 1.5's…..

Much like Scottie Pippen’s career, his signature shoes were long overshadowed by his legendary teammate. But for those who paid attention to the Air Pippen line, there were many top-notch signature models. And for this Summer, Nike has combined some of them to create this hybrid, the Nike Max A Lot.

Obviously, we have seen the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Rising Sun”, “Flu Game” and White/Red on occasion throughout this 2009-2010 NBA season; however, we spotted a few players rocking a never-before-seen Air Jordan 12 Retro that will undoubtedly make your mouths water. With that said, check out today’s Kicks On Court to see these new Air Jordan 12s.

The Supra Cuban is back for 2010, though it’s been given an update and has become the Cuban 1.5. It still utilizes a hybrid fastening approach, but a new system of lacing is now in place, as opposed to the flap and chain strap look we saw in 2009.
