Scott Brown wins the Mass Special Senate Seat!……

In a result that no one…I really mean …..no one could have forcasted…..Scott Brown, the Republican running for the Senate Seat held by the Teddy Kennedy…….has won…..

The Dog congratulates Scott Brown, the winner……

Martha Coakley the state’s Attorney General, and a Democrat…has managed to do what was done in the last two major races in New Jersey and Virgina…… she  literally threw the race away…….going vacation during the Holidays, making the Curt Shillings ‘Yankee’ mikstake…and not campaigning seriously until the last week…..( nevermind that Obama made the trip on Sunday….he did that in New Jersey, and Democrats lost that one also)

This from the Boston Globe……

Republican Scott Brown pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Massachusetts political history tonight, defeating Democrat Martha Coakley to become the state’s next United States senator and potentially derail President Obama’s hopes for a health care overhaul.

The victory caps a dramatic surge in recent days as Brown, a state lawmaker from Wrentham once thought to have little chance of beating a popular attorney general, roared ahead of Coakley to become the first Republican senator elected from Massachusetts since 1972.

With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Brown had 52 percent and Coakley had 47 percent.

In a race that became the center of national attention, Brown’s win is widely seen as a vote against the president’s agenda from one of the most reliably Democratic states. And in a particularly ironic twist, Brown, in succeeding Edward M. Kennedy — the late liberal lion who deemed health care “the cause of my life” — may well be the 41st vote to prevent the Democratic-led plan from moving forward.

While Republicans around the country may be excited….the Dog says this…….

ok… tonight…you  people sound like the Democrats right after Obama won….the Democrats are not going to table everything and just sit there with their thumbs up their you know what……

Also…….

…..This is a message to one person…..

PRESIDENT OBAMA…He can no longer just cruise above the fray…he has to get his hands dirty….to sell his programs (starting with Healthcare) and providing cover for the troops in Congress…they can survive together..or they sink together….

Note:……here’s a link to th Boston Globe chrono……

Ah, this is another one Merlin the magician got right…in the end……nobody could grasp this one…and most of the pollster’s… hedgeed their bets……

  1. Just for the Record:

This morning I predicted a Brown win of 50-47-3. It turns out the actual Vote will be 52-47-1.

I am stunned I came that close WITHOUT my Projections. I congratulate myself on that.

    Should be Fun this November.

  4. My theory that there is a curse on any MA AG obtaining higher office seemed to play out. Add Coakley to the list of 7 others who have failed since Watergate. Even Ed Brooke fell victim to this curse as he was defeated because of Watergate. Or was that because of him and Baba Walters?

Brown was a solid candidate while Coakley never really took him or the polling intelligence seriously until it was far too late. As it was Robert E, Lee’s birthday, I am reminded of the Battle of Chancellorsville, his greatest victory, where Yankee General Hooker, having superior forces, ignored the reports of Stonewalls Jackson coming around his flank. A great day up here and I expect the euphoria to spread to Wall Street in the AM.

The SOS should certify this quickly as the spread of victory is more than the number of absentee votes. After her special election to replace Marty Meehan in CD 5 against Jim Organowski, Nicki Tsongas was sworn in in two days. The State House might be mobbed if SOS Bill Galvin takes much longer.

Anyhow lets see how spazzed out Harry Reid gets when the Blue dogs start to jump ship.

    Maybe he will even retire.

    • I posted up your AG curse thing…but lets face it…. like NJ and Virgina this was another sub-par candiadte who thought being a democrat was the free ride ticket…..

You’d think by thus time they’d get it?

The Healthcare /Economy ball and chain doesn’t help, either

Finally, Obama has got to cut the Professor crap and get out and hustle for the hEalthcare bill and his Democratic Cingress memebrs……

Let me tell ya…if he doesn’t …and the Economy doesn’t move fast enough..he’s in trouble…..

  5. WOW

I had stated a Republican COULD compete in the 2012 Presidential Race

    Perhaps I am right

Perhaps an Independent can compete there

  7. Excuse the repeat post, but this in an IMPORTANT message

The ONUS will now be on all the Governors in the USA for the November 2010 election

I now fully expect the Democrats to extort them into either aggressively campaigning or not campaigning with the federal stimulus loan of 2009 being dangled over their heads
