The Salahis plead the Fifth before Congress…….

While they got dumped on by Congressmen from the House Committee on Homeland Security….the couple kept their mouths shut, under advice from their lawyers, who are sitting tight, while a Federal Grand Jury consisders weather to indite them for laying to Secret Service Uniform  Police Officers, who spoke to them on the night of the Indian State Dinner, and asked if they were invited to the event…..

This from the piece……

They also declined a chance to talk to the committee in a behind-closed-doors executive session. Which the committee’s ranking minority member, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said was just as well: “They’re not going to have state secrets.” King has agitated for White House officials like Social Secretary Desiree Rogersto testify about the security lapses; the White House has declined. Without them, the committee was just “going through the motions,” King complained.

“Did you have a good time in Las Vegas?” asked Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev), citing their celebrity “hosting” appearance at Pure nightclubSaturday. “Did you notice people had to stand in line and pay a fee — and they don’t allow party crashers?”

On the way out of the Cannon House Office Building, attorney Best held a brief press conference. He called the hearing a “charade” and “public flogging.” He said Congress would find the real answers by subpoenaing Rogers and Michele S. Jones, a Pentagon official whom the Salahis had e-mailed before the state dinner in their quest for an invitation.

“The Salahis are innocent and have committed no criminal act,” he said. “They believed in their hearts they were invited to the White House. This was not a stunt.”

Nor was it a joke either…….

We’ll see what the outcome will be……

After the Massachusetts vote….The President just wants a Healthcare Bill…..any kind of Healthcare Bill……He'll take what he can get….

From The Hill.Com…….

Earlier in the day, senior Senate Democratic aides said White House officials had been pressing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) behind the scenes to take up the Senate-passed healthcare bill.

But the White House strategy seemed to soften in the face of stiff resistance from rank-and-file House Democrats. Many have criticized a range of provisions in the Senate measure, including a tax on high-cost insurance plans and less strict regulations on insurance coverage for abortions.

Seeking to quell fighting within his party, Obama in his interview with ABC News urged lawmakers to focus on the most popular parts while leaving aside controversial measures such as the tax on so-called Cadillac insurance plans.

“We know that we need insurance reform. The health insurance companies are taking advantage of people. We know that we have to have some form of cost containment because if we don’t, then our budgets are going to blow up,” he said.

“And we know that small businesses are going to need help so that they can provide health insurance for their families. Those are the core, some of the core elements of this bill.”

An option the White House floated earlier in the week was for the House to pass the Senate bill, then move changes in a separate bill that would be forced through the Senate using special budget rules that require only a simple majority.

The problem with this Bill from the beginning has been that the White House and Obama in particular was unwilling to sell the darn thing to the public….after the Brown will…c orrectly or incorrectly …..Congressmen will no longer stand in front while Obama ‘cools out’ while they take the hits on the Bill….no way….

Rep. Chris Van Hollen (Md.), the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said the solution might be to change the party’s message by focusing on individual reforms in the massive healthcare bill.

Van Hollen noted to reporters that polls show voters support the individual reforms of the Democrats’ healthcare package.

Yep…you got it Rep. Van Hollen…will some ring up the President a tell him he’s got to let the American people know this….so that the democratic legislators can breath again…..

Van Hollen said Democrats need to “make sure people understand why we’re moving forward on this.”

I said a long time ago when the thing started….in the end…President Obama will settle for a Bill….any Bill…just the passage of… ‘A’ Bill…and that’s what’s going to happen….

President Obama on the Masachusetts vote……

From PolitcalWire……

“Here’s my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts, but the mood around the country. The same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office. People are angry, and they’re frustrated. Not just because of what’s happened in the last year or two years, but what’s happened over the last eight years.”

— President Obama, in an interview with ABC News.

And if you don’t get your stuff together…this is only going to be the beginning of some bad days……very bad days…indeed….

Cindy McCain comes out against California's Prop. 8 and for gay-marraige…..

Sen. John McCain’s wife Cindy McCain is the newest face of a pro-gay marriage campaign.

Posing with tape over her mouth and a “NOH8” logo on her face, Cindy McCain was photographed for the NOH8 Campaign, which protests Proposition 8, the California proposition passed in 2008 banning same-sex marriage. The proposition is currently being challenged in federal court.

McCain approached the campaign herself about her participation, the NOH8 Web site says. She has spoken out on behalf of gay rights before, though this is perhaps her most prominent show of support for the issue.

Interesting isn’t it?…You go girl!…Stand up for what you believe in!
