Dan Coats might not make it……

The Dog warned Merlin about Republicans drag up all GOP politicians to run again…..

The Dog see’s Dan Coats as someone who will is likely to ultimately drop out of the running for the Indiana Senate seat…

…..We’ll see…

But stuff like this below is gonna make it hard for Coats to run effectively…….

From PolitcalWire…..

Coats Tied to Chavez-Connected Oil Company

Former Sen. Dan Coats (R-IN), who wants to challenge Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) for his old Senate seat, “lobbied for a Texas-based oil and gas company that partnered with Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez,” Politico reports.

The Hotline notes Coats has also “spent the past several years advocating on behalf of pharmaceutical companies, major health care firms and big corporations.”

SE goes after RedState again…….

Here’s more and the link…………….

From SE………

Sigh, it’s always the faux Conservative charlatans that make asinine posts like this. Here’s another gem from Empty-Suit-in-Chief Erick Erickson:

Yesterday I gave you background on Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine and why I think Republican Primary voters must unite to defeat him.

Let me give you some more today………

Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) is one of the most conservative Republicans in Congress. He is unapologetic in his demands for smaller government. He has no shame in defying Republicans leaders in Congress, routinely voting against the party and in favor of budget cutting legislation. The guy is a conservative hero in Congress………

The Dog get's it wrong on SE……..

Hey…… when we make a mistake ….we own up to it……

The Dog did two posts about SE wanting to vote for Roy Barners…..the Democrat running for the Georgia’s Governor’s job………

WE WERE WRONG…..

We mistaked another Blogger , Erick Erickson @ RedState……who was angry at Oxendine…. for SE……we regret the mistake……..

Here’s SE’s latest post In which he defends Oxendine for going after what he believes is fraud in the state…….

John Oxendine calls it one of the largest fraud investigations the Department of Insurance has ever conducted— and now, he says several prominent Georgians are connected to the company at the center of the criminal probe.

Westmoreland: Oxendine Playing Politics with SEUS Investigation
The company is Southeastern United Insurance Company (SEUS). Last year it was liquidated under court order, after it was discoreved the company didn’t have enough money to cover claims. SEUS sold workers comp policies mainly to municipalities well below market value. In all, it covered about 5,000 Georgians and scores of municipalities, when it was shut down for being financially insolvent. And at least six Georgia families can not pay for medical coverage related to workplace accidents due to SEUS’s collapse.

The former CEO of that company, Clark Fain, is under criminal investigation. Oxendine alleges Fain, and the company, kept “Enron-style” books.

'The Jersey Shores' Snooki dresses up for a photo shoot transformation……

'Jersey Shore' star Nicole (Snooki) Pilozzi traded in her sky-high poof and casual clothing for a sleek ponytail and Alice + Olivia shift dress.

Snooki\’s lost her poof!

“Jersey Shore” star Nicole (Snooki) Polizzi got a chic make-under from Us Weekly magazine’s fashion director Sasha Charnin Morrison, which will be revealed on Thursday night’s episode of “Inside Edition.”

In one of the photos from the transformation, the 21-year-old self-proclaimed “guidette” traded in her sky-high poof for a chic slicked-back ponytail.

She also rocked a classic sequined blouse – no cleavage – under a black blazer with matching dress pants.

“I feel like my grandmother,” Snooki said to Us Weekly of this look, “I wouldn’t be caught dead in this outfit. If I had to go to court, I’d wear this. That’s about it.”

Make-up artist Victoria Pastoriza went light and fresh … and didn’t use bronzer!

“I can’t walk out of the house without bronzer,” Snooki said to Inside Edition about her make up routine.

Though she covered up for this make-under, the reality star has been fighting some raunchy rumors.

“There are no nude pictures nor will there ever be. The tabloids just love Snook gossip,” Snooki tweeted Tuesday in response to buzz that nude photos and video of her were being shopped around to media.

Keep those headlines going girl…..it’s good for the ‘brand’…….

Arriving at the Super Bowl isn't just playing 18 games and winning…..

SP_FEATURE3

In the grand scheme of sports, it may seem unfair that the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts were able to reach this Sunday’s Super Bowl in Miami after playing only 18 games. The New York Yankees had to win 110 times last year just to make it to the World Series.

But don’t let these numbers fool you. With 53 players per team divided into three distinct units—each with their own intricate playbooks—a professional football team is a complex organism.

Add a dozen coaches who study film late into the night, hundreds of grueling practice sessions, an annual college draft and the number of hours the players spend in the gym throughout the year, and the two teams that make it to the Super Bowl each season put in more hours of work than any team in any other sport.

SP_HOF2

According to an operational study of National Football League teams prepared for The Wall Street Journal by Boston Consulting Group, the typical NFL season requires 514,000 hours of labor per team. That’s about eight times the effort it took to conceptualize, build and market Apple’s iPod, according to BCG, and enough time to build 25 America’s Cup yachts. If both Super Bowl teams dedicated themselves to construction rather than football, their members could have built the Empire State Building in seven seasons.

If you divide a team’s total preparation time by the number of yards its offense gains on the field in a season, you’ll find that an NFL team moves at the rate of about 32 hours per foot. And it’s only getting worse: According to interviews with NFL personnel, the study’s authors say the total prep time per team has nearly doubled in the last 20 years.

“We prepare so hard for one common goal,” says Colts offensive lineman Kyle DeVan, “I think it would be easy to compete against businesspeople.”

Here’s the link………….A good piece about all the work and preparation that goes on….. to get to the Super Bowl…..

The first Action in the GOP attempt to take back the Government…….

From Charles Lemos over @ MyDD.Com……

Senator Shelby Places a Blanket Hold on Executive Nominees

On day one of their new 41-59 majority, Republican Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama placed a blanket hold on pending executive nominations on the Senate calendar in an effort to win concessions from the Obama administration. By placing a hold, a single senator can stop the Senate from taking up consideration of a particular nomination. Holds can be overcome, but it takes 60 votes to do so.

According to the Federal Times, Senator Shelby is upset over the handling of an Air Force refueling tanker contract worth up to $35 billion which was originally awarded to a consortia led by Northrop Grumman and Airbus last year, but later voided after a bid protest was filed by Boeing. Northrop Grumman has an assembly plant in Mobile, Alabama.

In a written statement, Senator Shelby complained Air Force efforts to build new tankers have been stalled for nearly 10 years and “we still do not have a transparent and fair acquisition process to move forward.” The senior Senator from Alabama who was first elected in 1986 as a Democrat (he switched parties in 1994) also wants the Obama Administration to release funds so the FBI can build a Terrorist Explosive Devices Analytical Center in Alabama, the statement said.

While individual holds are not unusual, Congressional scholar Gary Jacobson, a Professor of Political Science at the University of California at San Diego, said he knew of no previous use of a blanket hold.

This isn’t government, this is hostage-taking.

The Democrats will now pay for their over confidence after Obama won the presdiency…..The President will now hurt for his failure to do his homework and work to shore up the seats of his fellow democrats in Congress and his failure to take care of business at home…..

All politics is local….and if you don’t have that 60th vote…you gotta go and speak to the Republicans…..

Life is gonna be harder for the Democrats in the Senate…….

IMPACT FORECASTS FOR FRIDAY

Updated at 4:35 p.m.

FORECAST IN DETAIL

Through tonight: The calm before the monster storm continues as skies trend cloudier. Lows in the mid-to-upper 20s.

Tomorrow (Friday): We won’t warm much with clouds and precipitation inbound. Look for highs in the mid 30s, falling back to and below freezing as snow gets underway by the late morning or early afternoon. By evening, snow should be falling at a moderate pace with at least 3-5″ of accumulation common across the area and rates increasing into the night.

Dangerous weather: This will be a high-impact storm any way you cut it. Heavy wet snow will create difficult digging out conditions and may lead to numerous power outages. To minimize the risk of injury during digging, it is best to clear snow often. Wind and near-blizzard (or even blizzard) conditions may occur overnight Friday and into Saturday, Blizzard Warnings are already up to our east and we did have them issued in December. Be prepared to be stuck where you are for at least 24-48 hours, if not longer as suggested through a message delivered by the state of Virginia. And if all else fails, check out this “Snopocalypse D.C.” web site for further instructions.

Snow clings to trees in Fairfax, Va. yesterday morning. By CWG photographer Kevin Ambrose.

A major, high-impact winter storm is very likely to strike the metro region with heavy snow Friday and Saturday. This storm has the potential to be as strong as the “Snowpocalypse” storm of Dec. 19-20 earlier in the season. The one difference is that the atmosphere will be modestly warmer this time around, allowing for the possibility that snow will mix with sleet, primarily along and
