Merlin on the 33rd America’s Cup 1st Race…….

Hello folks!

Welcome to Live Coverage of the 1st Race from the 33rd America’s Cup. Third try we finally got lucky. Race Committee just waiting to see the wind rotating anticlockwise from from North-West to South-East. Once that is done we should have some sailing guys. Wind is around 6 knots and will likely increase a little bit. Just be patient.

Race Start likely at 7am ET which would be 13.00 CET Local one hour after Noon.

The AP Postponement Flag is still up BUT from what I’m hearing it’s looking good so far. Folks, just be a little more patient.

Digging into the AC:

Swiss Alinghi Team hasn’t lost an America’s Cup Race since 26th June 2007 when they were beaten by Emirates Team New Zealand by 25 Seconds.

Update: The TV Planes have been assembled so confidence in growing that we’ll indeed have a Race today.

Update: Looks like we’re going sailing today. Principal Race Officer Harold Bennett just moved the Starting Line a little bit because the Wind has turned as forecasted a completely 180 Degrees coming now from South-East at 5-7 knots.

Update: Half way up the first beat and Oracle now leads by around 700 Meters

Update: Now BMW Oracle leads by 1 Nautical Mile. WOW.

    Oracle now half way down the Downwind Leg leading by over 3000 Meters. Just incredible.

    Once again I’m proven right. The faster Boat wins.
