SE on 2013 Governor races!…….

From SE…………

Here’s an early take on the 2013 Gubernatorial races:

New Jersey: Incumbent GOP Governor Chris Christie is running for re-election. Potential candidates for the Democrats are Newark Mayor Corey Booker, Congressmen Rob Andrews, John Adler, Frank Pallone, Steve Rothman, Rush Holt, and Albio Sires, State Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver, State Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Cryan, State Assembly Speaker Pro-Tempore Jerry Green, State Senate President Steve Sweeney, and State Assembly Majority Conference Leader Joan M. Quigley. At this stage of the game, this is a TOSSUP.

Virginia: Incumbent GOP Governor Bob McDonnell is term-limited. Potential candidates for the Republicans are Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, former Governor and former US Senator George Allen, former Governor Jim Gilmore, former Counselor to President Bush Ed Gillespie, and Congressmen Rob Wittman, Randy Forbes, Bob Goodlatte, and Eric Cantor. Potential candidates for the Democrats are State Treasurer Braxton Powell, Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner, Congressmen Glenn Nye, Bobby Scott, Tom Perriello, Jim Moran, Rick Boucher, and Gerry Connolly, State Delegate Brian Moran, former DNC Chairman Terry McCauliffe, and former US Senator Chuck Robb. Considering the fields of candidates, I rate this a TOSSUP.

The height of idiocy…..The U.S. Navy is re-biding the Marine One Helo contract….

Anyone who has followed me from the P1 to the Dog, knows that easiest way to my ‘Irish’ up is to mentioned the complete screwed up Marine One VH-71 debacle……

The President of the United States travels in a Marine One Helo every time he leaves the White House to get on Air Force One, and when he has to make short trips from local airports, to a location that is more  timely,  comfortable and safely reached by air……

The Army used to handle the detail…but now it’s the exclusive responsiblity of the Marines……

The current fleet of Marine Helo’s are from 20 to 30 years old….and they need to be replaced (Contrary to the CIC Obama’s comments)….

Well….. the government bid the contract and awarded it to a consortium of Lockheed Martin and Augusta/Westland…

….. Here’s the best part…….The Navy owns outright 9 completed VH-71 Helo’s…..they paid $3 Billion for them( and will pay another billion to shut the built down) !

They are the first of a order of 23 to be completed…….

But they are now sitting around with no mission, because the contract was cancelled…..Sec of Defense Gates says because they coast too much….and don’t do what they’re supposed to do….the problem is….. the manufacturer actually did what was asked of them….You see, the White House Military Office ( Under President Bush and  Gate’s watch, mind you ) and the Secret Service added a whole boat load of stuff when they got asked for their input on the helo….so much stuff that …….the added weight necessitated the manufacture to redesign the Helo to carry all the weight….this cost more money and time……

Now Secretary Gates is now pissed because the Helo’s are overweight and over budget…..

So a year ago…Gates decided as a efficiency issue,  and the President as a politcal issue…. that they would cancel the program…..

People….. that makes no damn sense.First of all…the Navy owns 9 brand new Presidential Helo’s…owns…Second of all… while the first block of Helo’s came from Europe..they where pu together in Upstate New York (American Jobs)….Third… the new Helo’s (which almost assuredly will be Sikorsky’s American built S-92’s ….even if they can’t lift a peanut) will not be ready for at least another 5 to 10 years..making the current ones almost 40 years old before they are replaced….Last….. and this is the best!…..it will coast at least $10 to $20 Billion  to replace the $3 to 9 Billion to bring the Lockheed/Augusta Helo’s they have already have……

Wasted time and Money…..

Oh, yea……. the reason the Lockheed /August Helo won was because it had 3 engines, not 2.. like the Sikorsky Helo….It could fly farther, faster, was bigger and was a tested Helo at the time…. which the Sikorsky S-92 was not…..

Wasted time and Money…..

Here’s the link on the new contract bid…..The whole damn thing makes me sick…….

Here’s links on th previous posts on the nightmare……

That is was a very good get conclusion from the New York Post ……..

Chris Brown is working through with his probation…and is praised for it by the judge…

Judge Patricia M. Schnegg praised Chris Brown for not missing a session of domestic violence counseling and completing 32 days of community service.

Brown needs to move on with life and keep performing…He is gifted …and has the World in front of him……..

From the piece…….

A judge on Thursday praised Chris Brown for diligence in completing the terms of his probation for last year’s attack on his then-girlfriend, Rihanna.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg said Brown hasn’t missed a session of domestic violence counseling and completed 32 days of community labor in Virginia.

“It looks like you’re doing really, really well,” Schnegg said. “That’s always good to see.”

Brown spoke only once during the brief hearing, telling the judge “thank you” after her comments.

The R&B singer was sentenced last year to five years of probation and six months of community labor after pleading guilty to felony assault. He was charged after an attack on Rihanna hours before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Brown was permitted to serve probation in his home state of Virginia, but the judge wanted him to return to court in Los Angeles for frequent updates.

Schnegg also ruled Thursday that Brown, 20, can travel out of the United States for concert dates in May and June. The countries Brown is permitted to travel to weren’t immediately disclosed.

Brown will be back in court May 11 for another update. “By the time you come back, you’ll be way over halfway there,” Schnegg told Brown.

Before his arrest last year, Brown had a squeaky-clean image and was known for his dance moves and his hit “Run It!” His latest album, “Graffiti,” was released in December.

Our Site Host WordPress went down for a while…..

From WordPress……

Today WordPress.com was down for approximately 110 minutes, our worst downtime in four years. The outage affected 10.2 million blogs, including our VIPs, and appears to have deprived those blogs of about 5.5 million pageviews.

I know this sucked for you guys as much as it did for us — the entire team was on pins and needles trying to get your blogs back as soon as possible. I hope it will be much longer than four years before we face a problem like this again.

So does the Dog……

We’re back now…..Ruff, Ruff……

CD on the Oklahoma Governors race……

Battle for the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion on who will take the reins from outgoing popular Governor Brad Henry (D) on January 10, 2011:

Drew Edmendson

Democrats running:
State Attorney General Drew Edmondson (D): been elected to statewide office 4 times since 1994. His late father, E.A. Edmondson served 20 years in the House and his late uncle, J. Howard Edmondson served as Governor and United States Senator. The family name may or may not help him in a GOP year coming up.

Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins (D).

Republicans running:

US Rep. Mary Fallin (R-OK): former Lieutenant Governor from 1995-2007 and briefly served in the Legislature; currently serving her 2nd term in the US House.

State Senator Randy Brogdon (R-Owasso).

Possible, but unlikely to jump into the race is US Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK).

CD on the Alabama races……..

From CD……

[Davis, Folsom and  George Wallace Jr. ]

James B, Davis will likely be the Democratic nominee for Alabama governor in June, but he’ll have an uphill battle against whoever comes out of the Republican primary bloodbath.

On the down-ballot statewide offices, Lieutenant Governor Jim Folsom, Jr., (D) will easily win re-election to a 4th term, and AL Democrats will keep both houses of the Legislature again, and George Wallace, Jr., (R) will get the State Treasurer’s gig again for a 3rd non-consecutive term.

Update……

James B, the other Republican candidates for Alabama Governor include outgoing State Treasurer Kay Ivey (R), former State Senator Bradley Byrne (R), Tim James (R)-the son of former Gov. Fob “the Slob” James (R), who served from January 15, 1979-January 17, 1983; January 16, 1995-January 18, 1999 as the state’s 48th chief executive, and former AL Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore (R).

Feingold leads his announced challengers in Wisconsin……

From Rasmussen…..

Wisconsin incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold leads his two best-known announced Republican challengers for the U.S. Senate in the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state.

Feingold leads real estate entrepreneur Terrence Wall 47% to 39%. Just six percent (6%) would choose some other candidate given that match-up, while seven percent (7%) are undecided.

Against another potential GOP opponent, businessman Dave Westlake, Feingold currently holds a 47% to 37% lead but again fails to receive 50% support. Six percent (6%) like another candidate, and 10% are undecided.

Any incumbent who attracts less than 50% support at this point in a campaign is considered potentially vulnerable.

Little has changed over the past month in the hypothetical match-up of Feingold and former Republican Governor Tommy Thompson, who has yet to decide if he’s officially running. Thompson holds a 48% to 43% edge over Feingold. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Thompson held nearly the same lead over Feingold in January, 47% to 43%.

Note:……Tommy Thompson is not running at this time…….I still don’t understand why Rasmussen always runs the person ahead in the poll in the second spot….are they upside down over there?

While Rasmussen is at it why don’t they poll Iron Man against Feingold he ain’t running there either………
