From Daniel G……Maryland Governor: O'Malley has slight edge over fomer Governor Ehrlich…..

Morning Dog!

Today I’ll start with this: All Politics are Local AND that does really apply to the current Political Landscape in the State of Maryland. You’ve a very popular President in the State cobined with a very unpopular Governor. The middle thing combined is that you’ve a somewhat tight Race for Governor. According to a new Statewide Survey Governor Martin O’Malley (D-MD) leads his ’06 Republican Opponent, former Governor Robert “Bob” Ehrlich (R-MD) by only 6 Points.

The Governor’s Race wasn’t on Ehrlich’s mind early in the Cycle BUT as 2009 unrolled and the Political Climate began to shift Ehrlich became interested.

On Feb. 1st 2010 Republican Larry Hogan who was prepared to challenge O’Malley dropped out citing he’s convinced that Ehrlich will run. Ehrlich like NY State Andrew Cuomo is set to launch his Governor Bid in Mid March.

  1. Only down 6 % with 8 months out. Not bad for a Republican in MD to start with.

Ehrlich will get his old Job back in an Anti-Democratic Year. Goodbye O’Malley.

  4. James B, Ann Richards had a 70 percent as Texas governor down here when she choked her re-election bid to Bush Jr., in 1994.

It remains to be seen IF the GOP tidal wave will be bigger enough to derail O’Malley in Maryland since the Republicans are likely to pick-up 6 or 7 governorships in the fall.

  6. 6 points up and all O’Malley needs is one or two to win. Not a good place for a “former” who got fired 4 years ago after expanding spending by 30%, hiked taxes by $7bil and whines like a little child every week on the radio. On top of that his lies about leaving a surplus have been blown out of the water. He’s not trusted from the right and considered a “Bush” photo-copy on the left.

Run, Bobby, run! You’ll be a ghost when you go down for the second time.
