The second shoe drops in New York State…..The State Police Superintendent will resign….

Shannon DeCelleGov. Paterson (L) with State Police Superintendent Harry Corbitt in 2008.

First the person that the  State Police report through ….Densie O’ Donnell, the Commissioner of the State Division of Criminal Justice Services resigns…now the departement’s boss, Superintendent Harry J Corbitt is reported to be gone in the morning…..Who next?

State Police Superintendent Harry J. Corbitt will step down from his post tomorrow, sources told The Post tonight.

The move comes a day after Corbitt was grilled by state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is looking into the role Gov. Paterson’s administration might have played in getting a woman to back off of domestic abuse charges against top aide.

Corbitt was hand picked by Paterson to run the troopers.

State police called the woman who reported the abuse, Sherr-una Booker, even though they had no jurisdiction over the case.

Booker said David Johnson, one of Paterson’s top aides, assaulted her.

Along with the State Police intervention, two Paterson aides also called Booker, sources have told The Post, with one even trying to get her to downplay the incident.

Booker later decline to proceed with her charges.

Halter has made his Senate Bid OFFICIAL today filling at the State Capitol. Halter is the weaker General Election Candidate mostly because he’s unknown to Voters particular in the North of the State. That might change and could change very fast. Halter has Room to grow, Lincoln has not.

On the heels of this Poll the AFL-CIO (Union) issued an Executive Order pledging to raise 3 Mio $$ for Halter during the Primary Campaign:

Chris Cilizza of the Washington Post also reported that Moveon.org has raised 600k $ in the last 24 Hours. WOW.

From Daniel G…..New York Governor: Cuomo leads Lazio by almost 3 to 1 …..

Hi Dog!

The same Pollster who put Gillibrand ahead of Ford by 31 Points has also New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) ahead by nearly 3 to 1 over his Republican Rival, former U. S. Rep. Rick Lazio (R-NY).

Marist Research Poll

New York Governor 2010

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (D)  64 %
Former U. S. Rep. Rick Lazio (R)  28 %
Undecided  8 %

What can I say? I’m getting very worried about the possible Cuomo Coattails in November. Look, without him Republicans would have likely flipped a few House Races in Upstate New York. Now, that’s in serious doubt. NY-20 (S. Murphy), NY-23 (Owens), NY-24 (Arcuri), NY-25 (Maffei), NY-29 (Massa). Those 5 Seats would have a good chance of flipping. Now I doubt it. Remember 2006 when Spitzer trounced his GOP Opponent 2-3 House Races flipped that year.

Daniel G.

From the Dog…his numbers will come down…but he’s the next Governor of the state….The issue in Albany, the state’s capital is ….will Paterson make it through next week?…if not, Lt. Governor Richard Ravitch moves up……

Lt. Gov. Ravitch

From Daniel G……New York Senate Races: Possible Reason Ford dropped out; He was facing long odds…..

Hello Dog!

Here is a possible Reason why Ford didn’t get in to challenge Gillibrand. He would have faced very long odds. In a new Statewide Survey in the Empire State completed last Night Gillibrand would have led Ford by 31 Points.

Marist Research Survey

New York Senate Special

Democratic Primary

Incumbent Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand  50 %
Former U. S. Rep. Harold Ford, Jr.  19 %
Jonathan Tasini  3 %
Undecided  28 %

General Election

Former New York Governor George Pataki (R)  48 %
Incumbent Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D)  45 %
Undecided  7 %

Incumbent Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D)  59 %
NY Daily News Publisher Mort Zuckerman (R)  26 %
Undecided  15 %

Incumbent Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D)  58 %
Bruce Blakeman (R)  28 %
Undecided  14 %

New York Senate Regular

Incumbent Senator Charles E. “Chuck” Schumer (D)  69 %
CNBC Host Larry Kudlow (R)  24 %
Undecided  7 %

Full Result can be found at:

http://maristpoll.marist.edu

With Ford’s Departure we can now effectively put the Pataki Speculation to bed I think. That said Gillibrand will win BUT not with 60 % of the Vote in a bad Democratic Year. Ditto to Schumer. These Pollsters are jerks.

Daniel G.

Interesting Daniel…..You don’t think Pataki jumps in after all, eh?

China, Iran and other countries work to deny America access to strategic area's of the globe………

Asymmetrical war, egh?

You don’t deal with your enemy’s strength…you find their weakness……

During the Cold War, the Pentagon built the greatest naval and air forces the world had ever seen, endowing the United States with the superpower ability to land huge military forces anywhere in the world, at any time, whether invited in or not.

So it was that Washington, using its armada of aircraft carriers, cruise missile-launching submarines, fast cargo ships, long-range bombers, airlifters, and air refueling fighters, could eject the Iraqis from Kuwait (1991), bomb Serbia (1999), kick over the Taliban regime in Afghanistan (2001), and knock off Saddam and his cronies (2003). Everybody else had to meekly follow along (or sit on the sidelines).
But now the party’s over. The United States, Pentagon strategists say, is quickly losing its ability to barge in without permission. Potential target countries and even some lukewarm allies are figuring out ingenious ways to blunt American power without trying to meet it head-on, using a combination of high-tech and low-tech jujitsu.

At the same time, U.S. naval and air forces have been shrinking under the weight of ever more expensive hardware. It’s no longer the case that the United States can overwhelm clever defenses with sheer numbers.

and this is the situation right now…..

As all that unfolds, the Pentagon’s attention will be elsewhere. Gates has directed that the Defense Department’s strategic and budgeting focus in 2011 be directed at fighting “the wars we are in today,” in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Federal Reserve is getting an opening…and Obama will fill it….

The members of the Federal Reserve board may be nameless and faceless to the general public, but the announcement that Vice Chairman Donald L. Kohn is retiring opens up a huge opportunity for President Obama, who soon will have three vacancies to fill on the central bank’s seven-member body.

The open seats will likely prompt debate over the priorities of the Federal Reserve: whether to pursue monetary policies friendly to job growth or continue on the path as the nation’s chief inflation fighter through tinkering with interest rates.

Princeton economics professor Alan S. Blinder said party affiliation doesn’t matter when it comes to creating jobs. “Any incumbent president wants to see the economy grow,” Blinder told the New York Times. “. . . So, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Obama administration is looking for someone more dovish on inflation.”

The June departure of Kohn, a 40-year veteran of the Fed, comes with two existing vacancies, and in the aftermath of Obama’s successful reappointment in January of Ben S. Bernanke as Fed chairman. Christina D. Romer, chairwoman of the White House Council on Economic Advisers, is among those mentioned as a possible nominee for one of the vacancies, the Times said.

Obama has already named banking law expert Daniel K. Tarullo to the Fed board.
