commentary on Politics and a little bit of everything else

Romanoff is not welcome by the Dem's in Colorado……

Why am I not surprised?

I told Daniel awhile back that Andrew Romanaoff was a media creation……

I also told Daniel that the party and the White House was rock solid behind senator Michael Bennnet…..

I wasn’t fooling around……

Now this……

[ Bennet and Romanoff ]

Romanoff finds himself in the role of the uninvited guest because he has chosen to challenge Sen. Michael Bennet in the Democrats’ Senate primary. In a year in which the party is on the defensive, officials are not enthusiastic about challenges to vulnerable incumbents, which Bennet is.

But this is a primary campaign in which the world seems turned upside down. Bennet is a political newcomer. He had no prior elective experience until he was appointed to the Senate after the 2008 elections. Now he has the blessing of virtually every party leader from President Obama on down. Romanoff, the onetime insider, is contesting Bennet’s right to claim the Senate nomination without a contest. He now casts himself as an outsider who would go to Washington and truly shake up the system.

There is little love lost in this contest, as is often the case in party primaries. Republicans have drawn much attention this spring for their intraparty battles — Sen. John McCain versus J.D. Hayworth in Arizona and Gov. Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio in Florida — but Democrats have a few of their own. In Pennsylvania, Sen. Arlen Specter, who switched parties in 2009, has been challenged by Rep. Joe Sestak. In Arkansas, Sen. Blanche Lincoln, who has been running away from the national party, faces a contest against Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, who is running to her left…..

Romanoff’s challenge to Bennet has little to do with ideology. They agree on many major issues. Instead, Romanoff asserts that Bennet has become part of a broken system in Washington that has turned its back on ordinary people in favor of big money and special interests.

This is turning out to be primary politcs…..something the White House frowns on ( Remember New York’s Senate manuevering with Gillibrand? )

The real contest will be the August primary. Romanoff claims he is building “a head of steam” that will carry him to victory in that primary. “If I’m the Democratic nominee, I hold the seat — or at least I’m in a stronger position” than Bennet, he said.

But Bennet’s financial advantages will be ever more valuable as the two candidates head toward the primary. Through the end of 2009, Romanoff had raised only $630,000 and he concedes that Bennet will be able to heavily outspend him.

Bennet has begun airing television ads, which Romanoff cannot afford yet.

  1. Neither Bennet or Romanoff will determine this Race. Jane Norton WILL.

It’s entirely up to Norton. IF she’s a FLOP either Bennet ot Romanoff will win. However if she turns out to be a good Candidate both WILL LOSE to her.

I’m not sure Voters in CO will embrace the Presidents Policies.

Democrats REALLY HIT THE HIGH WATER MARK in Colorado after snatching both Senate Seats, 3 House Seats and the Governorship + the EV over a time span of 4 years.

  3. Your Claim Romanoff is entirely a Media Creation is totally untrue and disgusting.

It shows me that you don’t understand Politics.

As Leal told me a couple of weeks ago:

You’re an Obama Lackey and a RUBBERSTAMP for his Policies.

I totally agree with him. MYDD should hire you..he..he

  4. Romanoff is a media creation…while he is ofcourse a bonafided democratic contender for the seat..he carries little sway with the party…

    He is an outsider……

The media has made him a bit of a bog deal because of his run AGAINST Bennett the Admin pick…..

Just as with Halter the media ALWAYS looks for the outsider to take on the establishment…

Contrary to your wise crack….Romanoff has been counting on that wave and has ridden it…..

He has not gotten a boost in fundraising because he’s simply not that popular…..

  6. Primaries are GOOD see Oregon, North Carolina, etc. for your Party see 2008.

To bluntly say Primaries are bad like you do is BOGUS.
