iPad over sells expectations……up to 700,000 units sold…..

Long lines of tablet-hungry crowds greeted the iPad’s official release yesterday–but how many did Apple actually sell?

Brainstorm Tech reports Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster’s sales estimates for iPad’s first day:

In a report to clients issued Saturday night, Munster’s estimated that by midnight Sunday, Apple will have sold 600,000 to 700,000 iPads, including pre-orders — more than double his relatively conservative pre-launch estimate of 200,000 to 300,000. (Other analysts had published estimates of 300,000 to 400,000.)

By comparison, Apple reportedly took 74 days to sell one million iPhone when the gadget first debuted. The iPhone 3G and Phone 3GS each took just three days to sell the first million units.

That’s a lot of first weekeend sales….

More on the first day sales……

CNET’s got a team covering the launch: Greg Sandoval in New York City, Erica Ogg and James Martin in San Francisco, and Josh Lowensohn in Palo Alto, Calif. Follow along with our live blog below.

Sandoval, 8:15 a.m. EDT at New York’s Fifth Avenue Apple Store: In the final hours before the iPad went on sale, the line out in front of the store saw a little controversy.

Greg Packer, the retired highway worker who says he began waiting in line since Tuesday to ensure he would be first to walk out with the device, learned on Friday that those who had preordered an iPad would be first to enter.

Iraq still has problems……

The US causalities are gone…..

The Major push is to move US Troops, supplies and equipment home and over to Afghanistan….

But there has been bombings in the recent days …killing innocent civilians as the political chess moves involve violence, reprisals and disruptions…..

The job in Iraq is not over..there are a lot of blood feuds to settle it would seem, and Iran…trying to exert influence in a war for power that Saddam Hussian  fought for 8 years WITh US assistance…..

Even in this rebuilding country…power invites ……serious players…

And it is occurring with the full knowledge the United States is busy packing its bags…looking to the East…..

I told you folks…..Don’t expect all the troops to leave too soon….

It ain’t gonna happen…..

The attacks, the deadliest in the capital since the March 7 parliamentary elections, come asIraq’s political factions are locked in a dispute over the outcome of the vote. Analysts say the violence could trigger a more intense round of fighting among the rivals that threatens to spill into the streets.

The strikes against the Iranian, German and Egyptian diplomatic missions appeared to be a continuation of attacks that began in August against government and high-profile buildings that killed hundreds. But accusations started soon after Sunday’s bombings, with former prime minister Ayad Allawi’s Iraqiya bloc calling on the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to “restore security” and blaming security forces for failing to prevent the attacks.

“This is a serious crime in which the Iraqi people are being consumed in the process of what we can call the conflict over who should have the upper hand in Iraq,” political analyst Ibrahim al-Sumaidaie said.

Maliki is struggling to hold on to power as his many rivals seek to dethrone him. His predominantly Shiite bloc came in a close second to Allawi’s secular slate but is trying to build a coalition large enough to form Iraq’s next government.

“The real danger is there will be more of these attacks and the political leaders will not respond the right way and they will start fighting,” said Joost Hiltermann, an Iraq expert at the International Crisis Group. “They want to exploit the current security vacuum and trigger violence between political parties. That will be a prescription for civil war.”

That's right….Obama has Bill Clinton to thank…….

This is pretty heady times for the new President…..

Healthcare…..

Stimulus……

START Treaty with the Russian’s…….

Don’t Ask…Don’t Tell……

Need the Dog remind everyone that Obama’s triumphs have been earned  from  quite a few of Bill Clinton’s failures…..

Each of the things listed above went down in flames for Clinton …who up to the last Democratic  Presidential Primary in South Carolina was an iconic legend in the Democratic party……(he ‘s still pretty high up there, still )…..

By trying to tackle these issues…Clinton lead the way from Obama to find out…what NOT to do…. to deal with them……

True these are different times…..and Obama is a pretty darn good politician in his own right…..but every night….. when he goes to bed ….he should remember to pay tribute to the man that lead the way for him…and helped talk his wife into helping him……. also……

Duke beats West Virginia 78 to 57!…..Will play Butler on Monday for the Championship!

Duke’s Kyle Singler (12) shoots over West Virginia’s Kevin Jones (5) and Wellington Smith during the first half.

Folks I never thought Duke would get this far!

But the Dog has just come back from watching the Duke Blue Devils school West Virginia…..

The will now show up in the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for their 11th NCAA  Mens College Basketball Championship……..

This is their first since 2001……..

They have been 10 Championship games and their record is  3 and 6 for those games……

West Virginia only scored 6 baskets during the second half……

Duke’s  Singler, Scheyer and  Smith scored 63 points combined in the win……..

Duke 13…. 3-pointers in the game……..

And controled the boards the entire game……

The best part of the game was me breaking my oldest son’s chops!

Go Duke!
