Poland's speaker of the Parliament ascends to its Presidency…..

I was asked who will run the Polish  country after the tragedy that took out most of the country’s top  politician’s…….

Poland’s interim President will be Bronislaw Komorowski……..

PiS żąda wyjaśnień od Komorowskiego

The country seems to be running smoothly inspite of the huge loss…proving that the political system there….. works……

Komorowski, the speaker of parliament who assumed presidential powers according to the constitution, vowed in a short televised address to work closely with parliamentary political factions in naming replacements for posts left vacant by the tragedy Saturday that took the lives of all 97 passengers aboard a Tupolev TU-154 presidential aircraft as it approached an airport in Smolensk, Russia, in heavy fog.

“The parliament should demonstrate unity in view of the national tragedy,” Komorowski said in somber tones.

As Komorowski spoke from inside the presidential palace, thousands of Poles lined up in silence on the esplanade outside for a chance to enter and sign their names on a condolence book. It was the third day running that grief and patriotism led large crowds to assemble spontaneously in front of the palace, where they placed flowers, lighted votive lamps or just stared at the building where Kaczinski had lived and worked.

Komorowski said many empty government and military posts had already been filled provisionally by assistants, permitting government to continue functioning. He said he would consult with parliament members of all parties beginning Tuesday on naming a swift replacement for Slawomir Skrzypek, head of the National Bank of Poland.

The Warsaw stock market, which reopened for trading, seemed unaffected by the tragedy and closed with little change. This was taken as a sign that Poland’s key economic actors have confidence in the political system’s ability to absorb the shock.

But because of the urgency of the job, Komorowski added, he already has chosen a replacement for Aleksander Szczyglo, head of the National Security Office. The choice was Gen. Stanislaw Marian Koziej, a career officer and former deputy defense minister identified with Kaczynski’s views on foreign policy.

Under Poland’s political system, the bulk of political power is exercised by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, based on his coalition’s majority in parliament. No cabinet ministers were killed in the crash, and as a result, it was not seen as a threat to government stability or the ordinary march of affairs in the bureaucracy.

But the president, who is elected by universal suffrage, is the military commander-in-chief and wields veto power over legislation. In addition, Kaczynski had strong influence over foreign policy, pushing for strong alliances with the United States and NATO and skepticism toward Russia.

The X-37B……The Air Force moves into the post Space Shuttle mode….

The Space Shuttle Program is winding down……

President Obama will not extend the aircraft…….

The Air Force it seems is concerned that they will not have a space truck to make delieveries….so they have dragged out a old program almost cancelled when the shuttle started doing its work…..The X-37B…….

Image

This spaceplane looks surprising like the Shuttle , right?

Well …….I would assume that the Air Force wants this to be able hoist up their satellites and other stuff …..which was the deal the original Shuttle program used to continue its funding……

The ultimate purpose of the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle and details about the craft, which has been passed between several government agencies, however, remain a mystery as it is prepared for launch April 19 from Cape Canaveral, Fla.

“As long as you’re confused you’re in good shape,” said defense analyst John Pike, director of Globalsecurity.org. “I looked into this a couple of years ago — the entire sort of hypersonic, suborbital, scramjet nest of programs — of which there are upwards of a dozen. The more I studied it the less I understood it.”

The quietly scheduled launch culminates the project’s long and expensive journey from NASA to the Pentagon’s research and development arm and then to a secretive Air Force unit.

Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on the X-37 program, but the current total has not been released.

The launch date, landing sites and a fact sheet were released by Air Force spokeswoman Maj. Angie I. Blair. She said more information would be released soon, but questions on cost and other matters submitted by e-mail weren’t answered by Friday.

This is a repost……from April 4th…..The Aircraft was mentioned on MSNBC today…..

An addition pice from usatoday on a launch of the aircraft.…..ah, Spacecraft…..

According to a new Statewide Survey in the Bayou State Junior Senator David Vitter (R-LA) is still comfortably ahead over U. S. Rep. Charles J. “Charlie Melancon (D-LA). Vitter now leads the Congressman by 16 Points.

Vitter like North Carolina’s Richard Burr (R-NC) was once considered as Prime-Time Target by Democrats because of his Scandal in 2005.

Running this year in a very favorable Environment for Republicans helps him a lot.

Poland remains sorrowful and calm…..Moving on after its loss…….

With most of the important political leaders of the country gone in a terrible tragedy……

Poland …..a new democratic Republic up from under the thumb of communist Russia is moving ahead….

It’s military subordinates have moved up to replace the  lost leadership….

The politicians gone are being replaced by their subordinates….

And Poland signals…..for now..that it is sticking to rules set forth for such a situation…..

There will  be political manuervering…no doubt…..

But things are moving along nevertheless peacefully…….

As the body of President Lech Kaczynski was returned to this traumatized capital on Sunday, and the nation entered a second day of mourning on Monday, there was already a sense that the state was facing up to a major test, with a smooth transition and surprising unity in a long-fractured political environment.

“I am truly impressed and really amazed, to be honest,” said Violetta Sajdak, 35, a teacher who was pushing her year-old son in a stroller on the main boulevard where crowds gathered to pay their respects to the president. Although she was worried about the fate of the conservatives, who lost many of their top leaders in the plane crash in western Russia on Saturday, she said the system had performed well.

The electoral mechanisms to replace the officials among the 96 people killed on the plane were functioning according to plan, and senior Polish officials reassured the public that the government would continue to operate normally.

Military leaders were immediately succeeded on an interim basis by their subordinates. Members of Parliament will be replaced automatically by the next-highest vote winner from the same party in the electoral region.

The first deputy president of the National Bank, Piotr Wiesiolek, assumed the duties of the institution’s president. The bank issued a statement saying it was “functioning without disruption and performing all of the statutory tasks of the central bank.”

Despite the devastation, said Roman Kuzniar, a professor at Warsaw University’s Institute of International Relations, politicians were handling a terrible situation effectively and with unexpected composure.
