Daniel…..House Takeover? National Republican Congressional (NRCC) Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX 32) WANTS Republican House Majority come 2011

Hello Dog Folks!

Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX 32) who is the Head of the NRCC seems CONFIDENT of a House Majority.

From Politico:

NO ROOM FOR SECOND PLACE: In a briefing with reporters Tuesday, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-Texas) said anything short of a GOP takeover of the House would be unacceptable.

“Anything less, I did not fulfill my mission statement,” Sessions declared. “I’m not the least bit interested in coming in second place. Not the least bit interested.”

While lauding the Republican candidates in the upcoming Pennsylvania and Hawaii special elections, Sessions sought to lower expectations. “I think it’s really important that these are Democratic seats and drawn for Democrats,” Sessions said.

Sessions acknowledged that the NRCC was not yet fully on par with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, but he highlighted the fundraising successes of candidates and said the NRCC was closing the gap. “Clearly, the trend lines are in the right direction,” chimed in Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), who is chairing the committee’s fundraising effort this cycle.

According to a committee count, 121 GOP challengers and open seat candidates have over $200,000 on hand and 23 candidates have over $500,000 on hand. Sessions also pointed out that there were 16 races where GOP challengers had out-raised Democratic incumbents.

Sessions said he expected the GOP’s forthcoming contract to emerge after Labor Day, but said he would not insist on his candidates signing on. “This is a free country.” –Alex Isenstadt
