Unconfirmed Reports out of Florida suggesting AG McCollum HAS TAKEN a big HIT over his Health Care Lawsuit in the new Mason-Dixon Poll to be released later today.

In the Republican Primary McCollum has 38 %, Businessman Rick Scott has 24 % and State Senator Paula Dockery has 7 %.

McCollum had 61 % in a M/D Survey in March.

I told ya eveybody that McCollum would be a lousy Candidate.

  6. SE-779, I Don’t know if your a history major, but really man, you are judging someone with a 21st century lense who lived in the middle of the 19th century and you don’t expect him to have the values and ideas of his time.

Abraham Lincoln was also for shipping all Negroes back to Africa (Good luck with that one).

And the article you posted also said somethng about politics that is always true, his ideas and statements on slavery always fit his political need. Lincoln was a politician and he did whatever he had to do to stay in political power.

As for Lincoln’s pesonal feelings on race, I am sure he didn’t feel blacks were equal to whites, but how does that make him different from most white peole today?

There is really “Anti-Incumbent” Mood and it isn’t just Democrats, it’s Republicans too see Bennett.

So my guess would be that Sestak has a pretty good chance beating Specter.

I think Rand Paul will win over Grayson and Lincoln will likely be forced into a Run-Off.

If Bennett gets ousted today McCain might be in some severe Trouble too.

David Cameron (C) and Nick Clegg (Lib D) spoke to each other briefly, and then later for 70 minutes before adjourning for the night. Prime Minister Gordon Brown (Lab.) has left 10 Downing Street with his family for his home in Scotland.

Dems sue to block election for Maldonado seat

Bob Egelko, San Francisco Chronicle Staff Writer

    Saturday, May 8, 2010

Democrats seething about Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s decision to call a special election next month for the state Senate seat vacated by Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado – a move that they believe increases Republicans’ chances of keeping the seat – have gone to federal court to block the vote.

A lawsuit filed Thursday in San Jose on behalf of three voters says the June 22 balloting would violate the federal Voting Rights Act because any change in election procedures in Monterey County requires U.S. Justice Department approval.

Maldonado (R) was appointed to replace Lt-Gov. John Garamendi (D), who’d been elected to Congress. But I can’t remember whose seat he took.

Comment by Democratic Socialist Dave | May 9, 2010 | Reply

    • Now that I think of it and look it up, Garamendi succeeded Rep. Ellen Tauscher from the East Bay (Calif. 10th), who became Under Sec. of State for Arms Control & Internat’l Security Affairs (John Bolton’s old job before he went to the U.S. Mission to the U.N.), thus removing a burr from Speaker Pelosi’s side. [Tauscher had supported Steny Hoyer of Maryland for Minority Whip in 2001 against her trans-Bay colleague Pelosi.)

  21. Throw the bums out?

Bennett got the boot in Utah. It will be interesting to see if Keith my old nemesis at P 1 will be right about the Tea Baggers kicking out establishment Republicans only to be foiled in the final. A form of this did happen here in MA in the early 1990’s but the GOP here was so weak that a duck could have taken it over.

Utah is a state where the Dem’s are weak enough so that a Tea Bagger could go to the Senate. Their Congressman Matheson (D) was forced into a primary yesterday. He got 55% to bis opponent Claudia Wright’s 45% and now says that he “Gets it!”

the EXCEPTIONS are I dont support term limits

I merely ASK for open access to being on the ballot and the voting process is done on the level

I am OPPOSED to the Death Penalty ALWAYS

I think the Fair Tax hurts the LOWEST income earners

and I support the RIGHT to same sex COURTHOUSE marriage

    • See I agree with ou on the pro-choice pro-death penalty issue. It just seems more consistent. Either you are for killing crimminals and unborn fetuses (pro-death) or you are pro-life and against the death penalty and abortions (like the Catholic church, which for once in its long history makes sense too).

Me personally, I really can’t say because I may want to run for office one day and I don’t need anyone bringing back my old statement from this here political blog…

Benigno Aquino, Jr, ahead in Filipino Presidential election, with about 40% to 25% for his nearest rival, Joseph Estrada.

    • Ignorant Googling led me to this Philippine web site, which has the merit of links (along the top left) to a couple of dozen English-language papers in the Philippines and S.E. Asia.

      http://www.philnews.com/

The Nacionalista candidate (Villar) has conceded; Corazon Aquino’s son Benigno, of the Liberal Party, leads former President Estrada. Votes were roughly 11 to 12 million for Aquino, 8 for Estrada and 4 for Villar, with half a dozen candidates in the race.

The Vice President is elected separately.

The automated voting machines seem to have worked better than people anticipated, although with glitches. Turnout would be the envy of the US (or even the UK) at 85%.
