BP CEO Hayword relived of Gulf Oil Operation Oversight…….

Well…… he took his hits……

I guess he was found wanting in Washington and did not want to do that again…..

The new person will be Bob Dudley, the company’s managing director……

Good Luck!………

He’s gonna need it…….

BP’s chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg says Hayward, the face of the company during a crisis that has shattered BP’s reputation and sunk its stock price, will be replaced by Bob Dudley, the company’s managing director.

Svanberg, speaking on Sky News on Friday, said Hayward, grilled by a congressional committee on Thursday, was exhausted and that his recent public utterances may have hurt the company.

“It is clear Tony has made remarks that have upset people,” Mr Svanberg said.

Hayward first signaled the move during a June 4 call with investors, saying BP would create “a separate, stand alone organization… focused on the response, while the rest of the Company focuses on delivering our strategy.”

“I’ve asked Bob Dudley to take over the new organization.

Open thread for June 15…….Site Upgrades and White House Hype….

I’ve been busy today doing some paperwork and house cleaning  the blog for a long due upgrade…..

And believe me it ain’t as easy all as the web hosting people and WordPress says it is….

First I started off in the wrong place…

Then I found the right place but WordPress is having problems….

I vow to be patient…..

The new Web Hosting people have my money now….

On the other front….

I’m now checking the net to do a post and I notice one thing….

The race is on!

Every media outlet has something on Obama going to the Gulf, Obama telling the BP what to do….The White House in charge …Congress beating BP up…The stocj taking a hit….

And the best ones…..The Clean up is Chaotic…..

They even have a picture of my man Thad Allen looking glum…..

Judging my the comments here I guess I’m the only one out here that ain’t looking to lynch BP…..

Well folks you got what ya asked for…

Obama and his adminstration now looks like they are going to own the OIl spill…

They are in charge (Not really ….They don’t drill or cap oil wells )

They are whipping BP (Not really, that comes tomorrow )…

And  the state actually coordinates the clean up…..

BUT THEY ARE THE LEAD NOW!

SEND YOUR PUNCHES TO THE PRESIDENT and the government….

BP will settle on  putting money aside….

That’s a smart thing….

For the states and BP….

And I hear that WH Press Secretary Gibbs thinks they can capture 90% of the oil by next month…..

The Alvin Greene saga continues……

Yes Sir!

South Carolina Republican’s AND Democrat’s

what a mess…..

On to other things….

Daniel won’t be around for the you guys to kick around for a month…

He’s busy at work……

So I’ll try to do a some polling pieces and anyone that wants to try their hand at it…..

Come on!

As usual…….

Comments Please!!!

I’ll take the slow hits today……

and

Subscribe…..Subscribe…….Subscribe..…..

Ruff, Ruff….Bow wow!

Strasburg…The National's pitching wonder…Makes the SI cover….

The question is …..

Can he keep it going?

Can he carry the team?

Stephen Strasburg is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week, at least for everyone not in the Chicago market. This is, I believe, the first time a member of the Nats has been the primary subject of an SI cover. (UPDATE: Svlurga writes in to say that Ryan Zimmerman appeared onthe fold-out portion of this cover. My bad.)

It’s also only the second time a D.C. pro athlete has been featured on SI’s cover since this blog began in 2006.

In those five years, I believe this is the sixth time a D.C. athlete has been featured, though it’s certainly possible I’ve missed some.

But let’s put to lie this notion of an SI cover jinx, at least as far as D.C. athletes are concerned.

Nate Silver @ FiveThirtEight gets beat up again on his Pollster ratings…….Again….

I guess this goes back to tonight’s Apple post…

Once you get past a certain size everyone wants to know what type of underwear you have on….

Teagan Goddard of CQPolitics  uses Marc Blumenthal to  go after Nate Silver on transparency again…..

He does make one good point…..

Silver’s posts DO mean something these days……

From Politicalwire……

Mark Blumenthal looks at the transparency issues I raised with Nate Silver’s pollster scorecard and agrees it’s lacking in both the “database used to created to rate pollster accuracy and in regards to the details of the statistical models used to generate the ratings.”

Notes Blumenthal: “Many in the worlds of journalism and polling are taking these ratings very seriously. They have already played a major role in getting one pollster fired. Soon these ratings will appear under the imprimatur of the New York Times. So with due respect, these ratings deserve a higher degree of transparency than FiveThirtyEight’s typical work.”

In defending himself, Nate pointed to a 4,800 word explanation of his methodology and compared it to baseball, saying, “I’m sure that the first newspaper which printed a summary of batting averages took a lot of heat for it too.”

Perhaps, but anyone who has learned basic arithmetic can understand a batting average. Every baseball fan understands what it means and how it was calculated. But as Blumenthal clearly points out, even the experts in statistical modeling and polling can’t understand or assess what Nate is doing.

My point in raising this issue is not personal. I’ve enjoyed Nate’s work and think he’s been a very valuable political analyst over the last few years. In addition, I don’t have any business relationships with any pollsters. But the pollster scorecard as currently released is just not worth the attention it might otherwise deserve.

Check the comments to the piece …….they ARE  interesting……

Hillary grows more popular than Obama……

It sure is easier to be in the public’s eye as Secretary of State then as President…..

By any measure — favorability ratings or job approval — Americans by a sizable margin have warmer views of the secretary of state than they do of the president. This is of little use to Clinton beyond bragging rights, but among Hillary ’08 fans there is some satisfaction that the woman Obama once cut down as “likable enough” is now more liked than he is. Depending on the measure and the poll, she leads him by roughly 10 to 25 percentage points.

To understand why, look no further than their calendars for Monday. The president was in Alabama and Mississippi, trying again to change the public perception that his administration has been weak in its response to the oil spill. The secretary of state was in Washington receiving plaudits for being a “passionate leader” and for taking a “resolute and genuine” stand against human trafficking and slavery.

In the ceremonial Ben Franklin Room of the State Department, the passionate and resolute Clinton vowed her commitment “to abolishing this horrible crime” against human dignity. “Traffickers must be brought to justice,” she said.

For a public figure, few issues are as politically safe; the slavery and exploitation lobby, after all, was unlikely to issue a rebuttal. Clinton finished her day Monday with a speech on the need for help in sub-Saharan Africa; no criticism from the keep-Africa-poor movement was heard.

Contrast that with Obama, who had only grim tidings for Gulf Coast residents about the BP oil spill. He spoke to them of a “fear that it could have a long-term impact on a way of life that has been passed on for generations.”

Give Obama points for honesty, but that’s not going to boost his poll numbers.

Previous secretaries of state Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice were both more popular than their boss, President George W. Bush. But such a trend is not universal: Warren Christopher didn’t have ratings as high as his boss, President Bill Clinton.

Hillary Clinton helped her situation by sticking to relatively low-profile issues. While the White House drove the divisive policies such as Afghanistan, she has busied herself in quieter corners of the world, enhancing the perception that she’s above the political fray.

Editorial……Lets get something straight Rep. Clyburn…..Greene ran as a DEMOCRAT in your state…..Where was the party?

I’m beginning to get annoyed at Rep. Clyburn…..

His noise is getting louder…

But it negates a fact….

Alvin Greene ran as a Democrat…..

Stop blaming the Republicans if you got no proof….

Greene paid the $10,400 to run….

(I’d like to know where he got the money…but he produced it)

He was charged with a crime in the state….

Strange….he hasn’t had a hearing or a court date from what I’ve read….

WTF?

Listen…What the hell is going on down there???…

The story runs…but goes nowhere….

South Carolina looks like an Amateur Hour State….No the Democrats look like the Amateurs actually…..

Clyburn should shut up…..

If the local DA doesn’t pursue the charges against Green …

They should be dropped…

If no one can prove there was voter fraud….

His election should stand….

And the leadership of the South Carolina Democratic party should gone….gone….gone….

They screwed up……

Big time…

And Rawl should go home…he lost……

To a no name black guy…..

Yep…..

In South Carolina……
