Linda McMahon has her own Oooops! Resume moment….
I told everyone it happens ALL the time!
Democrats…and Republicans….
From Politicalwire…..
The New York Post reminds us of one more reason Richard Blumenthal’s (D) exaggerated military record isn’t likely to affect him in his Senate race against Linda McMahon (R) in Connecticut.
Just last year when McMahon “was nominated to Connecticut’s State Board of Education, she claimed, as proof of qualification, her degree in education. Her degree, it was soon revealed, was in French.”

Wonder why she lied about that?
Personally a degree in French impresses me a lot more than the amorphous “Education” degree
She was on a Education thing……
Yeah but to a lot of Republicans “French” is a dirty word. Remember how they all guffawed that John Kerry looked “French” and how they got misty eyed when they ordered their “freedom fries”?
I would think Connecticut is one state where the GOP isn’t owned by this kind of foolishness but who knows?
I never majored in a foreign language, but most of us remember what a normal college language curriculum looked like. After French (or Spanish or German) 4 or 5 came Phonetics and a lot of philology before (or concurrent) with the Literature.
The main focus of such courses is pedagogical, with a view to those who plan to teach that language (and that is what most of those who think they’ll use a language major for a career expect to be doing).
So the line between pure French Language & Literature majors, and education majors whose specialty or minor is in French can be pretty permeable and vague. I’m sure many students who have the option waver between the two.
Most education courses as I remember it
Were composed of some professor yacking on ad infinitum about HIS views of how to teach someone
And if you could regurgitate his thoughts you got an A or B
Or so I heard!
Yeah one of my degrees is in Education and I can attest that what most of what Jack says is right.
I wouldn’t say the classes were easy, as they were time consuming and contained a lot of “busy work”. But they weren’t too intellectually taxing.
The truth is there is really no good way to train teachers. So much depends on how many and what kind of kids you wind up with and what kind of administration you work under.
I only lasted a year as a teacher, though I don’t blame that on my training. It simply wasn’t for me.
The old but unkind saw is that
Those who can, do;
Those who can’t, teach; and
Those who can’t teach, teach teachers.
LOL, this lady aint winning nothing against blumenthal this fall! blumenthal will have PLENTY of ammo on her regarding the her running that soap opera/scandal ridden fake wrestling operation she use to run. drugs/steriods and the whole 9 yards.
She might get desperate and challenge him to a wrestling match!…..
Legit LOL at comparing this to Blumenthal. At least she had a degree. If she said she had a degree and actually didn’t, then it might be slightly comparable to a guy who likes to pretend he fought in a war.
These things happen all the time….People pump themselves up…..
But the outcry on Blumenthal means that she’s fairgame…..
Remember when Jimmy Carter (an Annapolis grad who worked for Adm. Hyman Rickover of the submarine fleet) would occasionally himself a “nuclear scientist” when the most he could claim, perhaps at a stretch, was being an engineer.
DSD…you could get away with that stuff then…Now with the net’ and stuff ….
You can’t….
