commentary on Politics and a little bit of everything else

Things get nasty in South Carolina Governors race…..2nd Affair alleged for Nikki Haley….

Well…..

It seems that Larry Merchant (A lobbiest, who up until today worked for LT. Gov. Andre Bauer’s campaign ) alleges he had a one stand with Haley….( he left Bauer’s campaign )

But admits he can’t offer ANY evidence to prove it…..

WTF?

Is this for real…Or another way the ‘Good Ole Boys’ are trying to stop Haley’s rise in the polls?

Haley…Whose parents are from India…Was born in South Caroline, and is a married mother of two and Tea Partier, She has been endorsed by Sarah Palin…..And  has surged in the polls* and seems good to take the GOP  nomination….

She just had another affair rumor shot down RedState….A Conservative Blog site that does’ t like SE too much and is ran by Erik Erickson who also works on John Kings new daily CNN program…..

Unless things get too stupid ……

And they already are…..

Lobbyist Larry Marchant admitted he had no proof to back up his allegation of a one-night stand with state Rep. Nikki Haley in 2008 and her campaign vehemently denied the allegation. The claim became the latest political drama for a state that was roiled when Gov. Mark Sanford made a tearful confession last summer to sneaking out of the country to rendezvous with an Argentine woman.

Earlier in the day, Marchant resigned from the campaign of Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, who is competing with Haley for the GOP nomination in the June 8 primary.

“It never happened. Absolutely not,” Haley said emphatically about Marchant’s claim during a debate with Bauer and the two other Republican candidates in Charleston. “This is just disgusting politics. Two or three months ago I was Nikki who? and nobody was saying anything and a couple weeks ago we started going double digits up in the polls and now we have had everything thrown at us.”

Haley’s campaign manager had the same message.

“As Nikki Haley rises in the polls, the good old boys in Columbia see their taxpayer-funded fraternity party coming crumbling down, and they will say or do anything to hold onto their power,” Tim Pearson said earlier. “This is South Carolina politics at its worst.”

* In Daniel’s latest Polling post she leads the GOP field by at least 10%…..That includes Lt Gov Bauer…..

  1. You should not presume these allegations are false because you share her political views, any more than her political opponents should presume they are true.

Establishment politicians of both parties have long since put personal ethics into play. Whether it’s Bill Clinton or Newt Gingrich, John Edwards or Mark Sanford, the rules of the game have been set. If she’s going to run for office, this is the game. She’ll have to grow up fast, regardless of her politics.

    • Listen…..I may lean Democratic….But I have done this post to shed light on something I think is wrong….

Twice she seems to have been targeted with false rumors…..

That is wrong…And it shouldn’t be swept under the rug…It should be brought up for ridicule……

  4. Secondly,

I’m questioning the purpose why “The Dog” is posting this up? Is he so STUBBORN that he thinks he can win in South Carolina?

    Well,

james is always doing this crap to make Republicans look bad.

  7. center square i don’t know where u been the last 20 years in politics but THE GOP gets more bad press as far as personal scandals. THEY WERE THE ONES whom attack bill clinton and the dems as immoral and unpatriotic over the years. everyone on this blog with half a brain knows this. that is why gopers get it worse than dems when they get caught. for the most part dems don’t go around preaching how godly they are and immoral dems are. dems do get caught in scandals as much as gopers i agree.

  10. james, i admit your more in the middle than i am. nothing wrong with that. and on ocasion i will go after dems. none other than pres. obama on his slow response on the oil spill. 2 years ago i was catching holy hell on my bigtime support of hillary over obama. my biggest foe was then obama supporter daniel g. sadly he went from a hard lefty to a hard rightwinger with a few weeks after obama was sworn in. he never really explained the 180 degree political shift to this day by the way.

Comment by Terry Green | June 3, 2010 | Reply

    • Totally UNFAIR from you Terry. IF I were truly a RIGHTWINGER I would join Palin and her gang and I’m not.

  11. Terry…That is why I’m happy you’re here man…..
We both fought the good fight over at P1 for Hillary…..

Got out our butts chewed up real good by the likes of Corey and Co….

    But we fought the fight….
    That’s why I can’t fault Daniel……..

He made a choice to switch…..I’m fine with that…..The HHS pick seemed to be what put him over the top…

What they are doing to Haley in SC sucks….And to be honest ..She gets my sympathy…..
    I’m flexible enough to bend….

I’m better with myself by being at P1 and here…..

And I’m with you on Obama ….
    The guy is all right…
But in the end…he’s another politician (see my upcoming Israeli post )

  12. thanks james. look i really came over to obama and now really like him now. but that said i still think from time to time what might have been with hillary running the place. i moved on. oh well. 2016 i think age might be too much on hillary but what the heck reagan and mccain ran as old men right?

  13. This country likes it presidents young these days……

But I would never rule her out…she’d only be about 68 years young!

  14. The problem that the Republicans have here is that if they select Haley

And then these things prove true or other paramours appear

Then the presumptive Democratic challenger Vince Sheheen(who many legislative Republicans would actually prefer to Haley) could pull it off

McMaster is the safest choice but is a bad candidate

Barret is not well known outside his CD

    And Bauer is Bauer

A guy who traditionally has run behind the GOP ticket statewide(last election while Sanford was reelected handily,Bauer won be only 3000 votes)

Look for a runoff between McMaster and Haley
