Why Obama has Israel’s back…and there will Never be Peace in the Middle East….Editorial…..

A few months ago President Obama nd Secretary of State Hillary Clinton …jumped all over Israeli President Netanyahu after Vice President Joe Biden got things switched up on him during a visit to Israel….

The issue was settlements….

Obama wanted to differentiate his administration from past one’s in the eyes of the Middle East by pressuring Israel to hold on the settlements (A policy to cement gains against the Palanastian ‘s )….

For the first week Obama took the fight to Netanyahu…..

The hardliners in his cabinet orchestrated the settlement caper to remind the Americans…..and the President with the middle name of Hussian…that they would do what was right for them …in their country….

Netanyahu *  keep getting hammered for a few….In the media here...and in Israel……

The Israeli right dug in…..

Slowly over the last two weeks things began to change….

Hillary backed up….

No the United Sates wasn’t mad at Israel…just annoyed….

The Jewish congressional lobby began to speak up…..Schumer, Weiner….etc..

When this Gaza caper went down Netanyahu was in Canada on the way to the US to kiss and make up with Obama….

‘Forget about the settlements …You can do what you want’……

Then the Gaza caper….

Obama responded to that from the gut initially….

Condemning the raid….

But now a few days later…..

Obama has once more retracted his rhetoric..

During a One hour call to Netanyahu it has been  reported that Obama coached the Israeli President to check his intelligence and review what went before the decision to do the raid was given to him for his approval…

Yesterday ALL of the captives where set free…

Netanyahu now has to find away back to mending his relationship with the Turks privately while they trade barbs publicly…..

Obama is disappointing back to where every American President ends up….

COVERING ISRAEL’s back while after they get themselves in trouble……

Bu doing so…

The United States loses all impartiality in the eyes of the Middle East Body public….

Let me say something here…

The leaders of the Middle Eastern countries are not the least bit surprised by this…

They have been here before with EVERY AMERICAN PRESIDENT since the Seven Day War….

And Sadly….

This is why there will never be  a Middle East Peace…..

No President has ever been able to bring Israel to the table to deal….

The Israeli right has cut the balls out of any deal…..

For the same reason their was the raid…and there is a blockade…

Fear and mistrust between the Palestinians and the Israeli’s…

Don’t tell me that Israeli’s don’t emigrate to this country after being tired of the tension….

They do…

Don’t tell me that Palasteina’s don’t emigrate to this country because of the tension…

They do…..

Don’t tell me both parties don’t intermarry and do thing together…

They do…..

They Don’t……

Here’s a story on the close bond that Israel and the United State have on the military level…..It is almost as tight as the US and The British .

……….Close military ties between the United States and Israel mean that Washington will be unable to convincingly distance itself from the Israeli action, and American relations with the Muslim world will continue to be difficult and, in many places, dangerous.

The bloom of optimism in the Arab world that greeted the election of President Obama had already begun to wither, as the inevitable disappointments over the lack of peace progress set in.
Now, additional boats of the “relief flotilla” carrying supplies from Turkey are expected to try to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza, and with the Turkish government threatening to send armed escorts, more confrontation and tension seem inevitable.

The anger and violence, in turn, fuel anti-American bitterness across the region, as Gen. David Petraeus and others have recently observed.
But there is no escaping the fact of deepening U.S.-Israeli military ties that have no parallel with any other country in the region.
In a joint appearance at the Pentagon this spring, Defense Secretary Robert Gates lauded Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, calling him a friend with whom he’s worked for over 20 years.
“The United States’ commitment to Israel’s security is unshakable, and our defense relationship is stronger than ever, to the mutual benefit of both nations,” Gates said in a news conferenceApril 27. “The United States and our ally Israel share many of the same security challenges, from combating terrorism to confronting the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear-weapons program.”

Barak was no less enthusiastic. “The special relationship between Israel and the United States is unbreakable, built on mutual respect and shared values,” he said, citing “the unmatched support and cooperation that the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] and the Israeli minister of defense share with the United States military and the Department of Defense. ”
For instance, the USS Ramage, a guided-missile destroyer based in Norfolk, Va., spent much of last month off the coast of Israel, plugged into Israel’s missile defense system “and learning a lot about how to do that,” according to Adm. James G. Stavridis, who commands U.S. and NATO forces in Europe and the Mediterranean.
The growing U.S.-Israeli coordination of missile defense operations “is something we’ve been working very closely with the Israelis on,” Stavridis told defense reporters May 17. “We’ll get a lot out of it, I think the Israelis will get a lot out of it, and we’re moving forward with a great deal of practical work. The idea is to continue that march to try and build inter-operability together.”

More than a thousand U.S. soldiers, sailors and airmen landed in Israel last fall for ExerciseJuniper Cobra, held every two years to facilitate joint missile defense and other joint U.S.-Israeli operations. U.S. military personnel are stationed in southern Israel, where they operate a strategic radar designed to detect and lock onto enemy missiles.

Such joint strategic operations have strong support not only in the White House and Pentagon but in Congress as well. This spring lawmakers lined up to push through a $205 million addition to Israel’s annual $3 billion security aid package; the added money, approved by a bipartisan crowd of 401 legislators, is earmarked for Israel’s “Iron Dome” missile defense system…….

In the end it seems…The Israeli’s have bored so deep into the American political system that NO AMERICAN President has a choice but to go along ans sacrifice Middle East Peace for Israeli’s fight to survive…..

Not that they shouldn’t mind you….I’m with them…

But a more lasting and complete peace will only come through political channels…

Not military might……

Why can’t Israel be the great nation that it can be?

Comment by Peter Reynolds | June 3, 2010 | Reply

    • Peter….I don’t think Israel is a BAD nation…….
      Far from it…..
We American’s tend to only think of the world as a extension of us…..
      It isn’t……
Israel has every right to keep itself safe …and going….

My argument is that Obama has tried to break the same mold that every US President gets plastered in….
They ALL start out trying to do something different…..
NUDGE the Israeli’s to bargin (The American way )….
      We’re America…The BIG GUYS!
      They care less……

      It always fails…..
Israel almost always gets a jam…
      We take their back…
It over for the President at the helm…..

      It just happened again Peter…..Blink…

What are we gonna do ?
Right in front your eyes…In broad daylight…..

  2. The world needs someone of equal calibre to Obama in Jerusalem. Unless Israel can find the leader it needs then it is bound for destruction – and the Middle East along with it.

  3. Well Peter the way I see it…

    It isn’t that easy…..

Because Israel has a Parliamentary form of government….Coalitions are required…..

BiBi needs the hard right to keep his government….

He has to listen to them…The agriculture guy…The one who dropped the settlement thing on Biden is hard right…..

    See where I going?

Even if Bibi wanted to go left…He’d probably lose his government…..

You think Israeli’s don’t want peace?

    Of course they do!

On the other side The Palestinian’s have to play their trump card at some time…..

    Recognize Israel…Declare the fight over…Break Bread……

    • Sure. That sounds like a great idea to me. Do that now. It’ll leave the Israelis floundering to keep up. Force their hand.

We need men of courage. It is time for a great leader to emerge – on either or both sides.
