Jennifer Love Hewitt….

Jennifer Love Hewitt

Ever since Jennifer Love Hewitt hit the big time on Fox’s orphanfest Party of Five in 1995, the gorgeous Texan has held the attention of mankind the world over. Her starring roles in the I Know What You Did Last Summer series of slasher flicks and the teen comedy Can’t Hardly Wait only solidified her claim as Hollywood’s most desired actress. Fast-forward a decade, and the three-time Maxim cover girl is still on top with her other worldly seriesGhost Whisperer, a ratings juggernaut for CBS. Recently, after a two-year relationship, the Love of our lives has become a single woman again. Glory, glory hallelujah!

President Obama will nominate James Clapper to The Director for National Intelligence Post….

House Committee Assesses Al-Qaeda Strength

The Dog fells sorry for James Clapper

Who is volunteering for a thankless job that really should back to the CIA Director……

Clapper  has no background with Obama and will be usurped by CIA Director Panneta…..

Who has the personnel and political juice…..

He is former House member from California….

Who has the manpower and political juice…..

Clapper has had a rough time with Congress in the past…..

He might not even make it……

Like a said…..I wouldn’t want to be him….

He gonna get ran over……

In Clapper, the White House has elevated a seasoned intelligence official. The former lieutenant general in the U.S. Air Force serves as the under secretary of defense for intelligence and previously held several key positions within the intelligence community including director of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency and director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

His nomination could face tough partisan opposition in Congress. The prospect of his selection has been drawing fire from vocal GOP critics of the administration’s national security policy, including the senior Republicans on the Senate and House Intelligence Committees, Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.) and Rep. Pete Hoesktra (R-Mich.).

“Unfortunately, with his pick in Jim Clapper as the next DNI, the President has ensured our terror-fighting strategy will continue to be run out of the Department of Justice and White House,” Bond said in a statement Friday. “While Jim has served our nation well, he lacks the necessary clout with the President, has proven to be less than forthcoming with Congress, and has recently blocked our efforts to empower the DNI, which is why at this time I’m not inclined to support him.”

Hoekstra has called Clapper “exactly the wrong person” for the DNI job because of his resistance to keeping Congress informed.

Hoesktra also predicted that Clapper would tangle with Congress because he “doesn’t like” providing information during testimony before committees with jurisdiction.

“What I’ve found is that he doesn’t like Congress – you can’t get a straight answer from him when he’s testifying. It’s like pulling teeth. He would be a sharp contrast to Director Blair,” he said.

Hoesktra also has accused Clapper, as well as White House officials, of actively trying to keep critical intelligence information from him.

Rasmussen Polling changes it up……Comes back……

The Right leaning polling outfit found itself out a limb reports Pollster.com ……

And has scurried back into the pack of major pollsters……

This from PoliticalWire……

As many readers have noted, the latest Rasmussen surveys of U.S. Senate races in Connecticut and Kentucky seem to have swung wildly back in line with other recent polls.

Pollster.com notes “something funny has happened in the past four days.”

Markos Moulitsas: “Remember, Rasmussen has two modes — the narrative setting mode, which he’s used to great effect this year to fuel the ‘Democrats are doomed’ narrative, and the ‘get it right’ mode he uses the closer we get to the actual election. Well, we’re not that close to November yet, but apparently he felt threatened by having such massive outliers vis a vis other pollsters. So he rushed new polling more in line with the composite polling trendlines.”

In an email, Scott Rasmussen declined to respond.

In New Jersey…….Under 21 year old drivers have to have red patch on their plates…..Ooooh!

Man …….this is like setting them up for the cops!

New teenage drivers have a lot of accidents……That’s why insurance rates for over 25 years olds drop dramatically…

I know it true…..I have three grown sons who proved the statistic to me…

But actually young teenage drivers to the cops doesn’t rub me right…..

I hope they repeal the law……

A New Jersey law requiring young drivers to stick a red decal on their license plates expectedly upset teenagers.

But the ire has crossed generations. Parents, too, are protesting the overhaul of the state’s rules for young drivers.

Debbie Minnick, a mother in Hamilton Township, recently took her 16-year-old to the Motor Vehicle Commission for a learner’s permit. The clerk told her she needed to buy red decals for her daughter.

Ms. Minnick’s response: “When hell freezes over, I’ll buy those stickers,” she said.

One month after the new law went into effect, many New Jersey parents are refusing to abide. As of May 1, small red decals must adorn the license plates of cars driven by new drivers under 21.

New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle Commission says 250,000 drivers are subject to the law. As of last week, it had sold just over 105,000 sets of the decals.

The red badge of inexperience is part of Kyleigh’s Law, which was passed nearly unanimously by the state legislature and signed by then-Gov. Jon Corzine last year. The law is named for a Morris County teenager killed three years ago when the car she was riding in crashed. A new driver was at the wheel.

Gregory Gottlieb, a junior at Atlantic City High School, isn’t putting the decals on his car. His parents are supporting his decision, he said.

“It’s scary, especially for parents who disagree with it,” Mr. Gottlieb said. He co-founded a Facebook group opposing that law that now has more than 30,000 members.

“If any group of drivers should be identifiable, it should be convicted sex offenders, not their prey,” Mr. Gottlieb wrote last year in an op-ed in his local paper, the Press of Atlantic City.

Most of the law’s provisions—restrictions on teenage driving at night, how many people can be in the car, a ban on hands-free cellphones—aren’t as controversial.

The decal—the first of its kind in the nation—is meant to give police a way to enforce restrictions on young drivers.

SC Governor candidate Haley the victim of slurs on her and her religion by opponent…..Update….

And Daniel wanted to know why the Dog went with this story???

Someone here from South Carolina mentioned that things could get nasty down there….

Well…They nailed it!……

Her GOP rival unleashed a few descriptive words about her…and now he’s saying….’It was all in fun?’

What fun?

[ Nilkki Haley and Jake Knotts ]

Lexington state Sen. Jake Knotts called political rival and Republican gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley a “raghead” on an Internet political talk show Thursday evening.

The term is a slur typically used against Arabs or other ethnic groups who wear turbans or headdresses. Haley, a state representative from Lexington, is the child of Indian immigrants.

“We already got one raghead in the White House,” Knotts said. “We don’t need another in the Governor’s Mansion.”

According to those present and watching the show, “Pub Politics,” Knotts also talked at length about Haley’s parents’ religion and her family. Haley was raised as a Sikh, but converted to Methodist and has said she attends both services. “Pub Politics” host Wesley Donehue said the video will be posted today.

Haley’s religion was raised as an issue during her first S.C. House run in 2004, when anonymous fliers claimed — inaccurately — that she was a Hindu. Haley won the race, unseating the House’s longest-serving lawmaker.

Haley is in a four-way contest for governor. Knotts is a longtime ally of Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, who is also running for governor. Wednesday, Bauer campaign consultant Larry Marchant said he had a one-time sexual encounter with Haley in 2008. Bauer asked Marchant to resign, but Haley accused Bauer of “fishing” the story to the press. The allegation was the second in as many weeks against Haley, who has maintained she has been faithful to her husband of 13 years.

It seems that Knotts contiued on with the remarks after leaving the show……

Wesley Donehue, a political consultant who co-hosts “Pub Politics,” says he believes the comment may have been in jest, but it crossed a line.

“I guess it was made as a joke,” Donehue says. “He was talking about her religion and I think he took it a step too far.”

“Knotts always says what’s on his mind, so in that respect, he’s a very honest guy and whatever comes top of mind he always says it,” Donehue adds.

Donehue and the team behind “Pub Politics” originally said they would release the audio of the program, but now say they will not until at least after Tuesday’s primary election.

Knotts did issue an apology of sorts after his remarks. “I still believe Ms. Haley is pretending to be someone she is not, much as Obama did, but I do apologize to both for an unintended slur,” Knotts says.

However, the Free-Times, a Columbia newspaper, reports that Knotts went further in his comments after the show was over. The paper published an article claiming he repeated the use of the term “raghead,” and said that Haley was “programmed to run for governor of South Carolina by outside influences in foreign countries.”

A second source backs up the content of that report.

Daniel…..Arkansas Senate Democratic Run-Off: Halter leads Lincoln by 4 Points heading into home stretch according to Research 2000 / DailyKos Survey

Hello Folks!

It surely looks like Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) will be the next Incumbent Senator to be booted out by Voters. A new Research 2000 / Daily Kos Survey shows Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter (D-AR) leading Lincoln by 4 Points heading into the Home Stretch.

More importantly among Voters who voted for DC Morrison who got 13 % in the May 18th Primary Halter leads Lincoln by 10 Points.

Even more important: According to the local “Tolbert Report” Lincoln is apparently running out of money. Halter is currently visiting all Counties in the State of Arkansas.

Research 2000 / Daily Kos Survey

Arkansas Democratic Senate Run-Off

Arkansas Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter  49 %
Incumbent Senator Blanche Lambert Lincoln  45 %
Undecided  6 %

Big Caveat: Republican Voters CAN VOTE in this Run-Off if they view Halter as the weaker Candidate.

Don’t assume he is the weaker one just because External Groups like MoveOn.org, etc. supporting him.

Looking around the Democratic Bloggers like MYDD, Swing State Project it’s clear they want Halter to win.

I know “The Dog” disagrees on Halter BUT Terry Green LOVES Halter.

Daniel G.

And Daniel….All those people going for Halter just make me know he couldn’t win the General….The guy is actually alright with me with his views…But those views make him unelectable to me….Unions and Progresives……Not something you’d not want to be pushing you in the South…..
I’m dealing in electiblity……Halter will be good for you…Bad for the list of people who like him in the primary run off…..

BP reports capturing Oil from the well…..The Cap is working…….

Obama 'furious' as BP wrestles cap onto oil leak

[ AFP/BP – This still image from a live BP video shows a cap being lowered in the hopes of sealing the fractured ]

BP has finally had some luck in fixing the cap onto the pipe spewing oil in the Gulf……

Hopefully they can capture enough oil to render this spill over…..

Something about closeing the evnts to the cap without it being blown off……

Mean while oil droplets have reached the coast of Florida….and the President is back in the region just in time to get the good news…..

On day 46 of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, BP, at last, began to siphon oil from the ruptured undersea well to the surface, where it was flowing onto the awaiting drill ship Discover Enterprise.

As the recovery process started Friday, BP said it would shut four vents on top of a containment cap from which oil was still escaping into the ocean. The company hoped that closing the vents would greatly reduce the amount of gushing crude, though there was still enormous uncertainty about the ultimate success of BP’s latest effort to contain and recover the oil.

U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the federal government’s response manager, said estimates of how much oil is being captured or whether any leaks develop will be determined later Friday.

President Obama, who said he was “furious at this entire situation,” arrived in Louisiana on Friday afternoon to get another firsthand look at the environmental damage and speak with political and business leaders.

Obama did not provide details about attempts to seal the well, but said “it does appear that the cap — at least for now — is holding.” He quickly added, however, that it is “way too early to be optimistic.” Officials should know more about the success or failure of the effort in next 24 to 48 hours, he said…….
