There are those helping Illegals from dying at the border…..

It takes all kinds….

And some people do not want to see illegals dying at the border……

So they help as much as they can…..

At a time when state and federal governments are focused on tightening the border to keep out immigrants who cross illegally fromMexico, Wallin and her colleagues help people who make the trip. They leave water and food along well-known foot trails. They distribute maps showing the water sites and search for trekking migrants. Sometimes, they find dead bodies.

Their efforts are at odds with a new Arizona law that makes it a state crime to be in the United States illegally. Gov. Jan Brewer (R), who met behind closed doors last week with President Obama, contends that the law known as SB1070 is necessary to fill a federal leadership vacuum on immigration reform. Obama, who has called the measure “misguided,” has directed the Justice Department to assess the law’s constitutionality.

While the debate goes on, Wallin and a group of 140 volunteers who call themselves Los Samaritanos work against brutal heat and an unforgiving desert landscape where 61 migrants died in the seven months that ended April 30. In a region split by the increasingly fortified U.S.-Mexico border, they say they are doing moral deeds in the face of a simple reality: Migrants keep coming.

“Most of the people we find are broken, beaten down, sobbing, so lonesome, broken. They just want to go home,” said the Rev. Randy Mayer, pastor of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Sahuarita, Ariz., home to Los Samaritanos. “We’re just trying to stop people from dying. Somebody will say, ‘What don’t you understand about “illegal”?’ Well, it’s more complicated than that.

Rep. Mark Kirk's misstatements continue on to other subjects beyond his Military record…..

This time it’s in Foreign Affairs…..

China drilling for oil off Cuba????

A French commmando raid with causalities….That had none….????

Hummmmm?????

………Some of the stories Kirk tells on the stump seem a bit too good to be true. When he last ran for re-election to his congressional seat, he got into trouble for saying China was drilling for oil off the coast of Cuba, which was not true, he acknowledged Thursday in a meeting with the Sun-Times editorial board.

Speaking to the City Club of Chicago last year just after President Obama authorized the shooting of Somali pirates who kidnapped American Capt. Richard Phillips, Kirk got a whole lot wrong talking about pirates attacking ships off Africa.

“We began to see some backbone, not from the U.S. but from France,” Kirk said. “France was always good for a quick $2 million ransom until the election of President Sarkozy. When his first ship was seized, he authorized the standard ransom payment — with a transmitter in the box. As that went into the pirate compound, he then authorized French Special Forces to roll in. And they killed everybody. . . . It kind of shocked us in the Pentagon. But it sent a clear message and I don’t think the French have had many problems since.”

Here’s the problem: Much of the answer was fiction. It wasn’t the first ship attacked after Sarkozy took office; and the French Special Forces didn’t kill everybody. In fact they didn’t kill anybody, Sarkozy has said.

Sarkozy backed that up with video footage of the French forces chasing the pirates who tried to escape in two SUVs through the Somali desert. The French forces disabled one of the SUVs and captured the six pirates, who were flown to France to stand trial. Four other pirates escaped in the other SUV with some of the ransom. One local official said at the time of the raid that three to five Somalis may have been killed, but Sarkozy said none was.

The Iraq battle with Al Qeada Update…….

While it has been relativly quiet while American troop withdraw….

There is still work to be done there…

The US Special Operators are working with the Iraq’s to rid the country of Al Qeada operatives…

This will continue even as the American troops withdraw….

The Administration is replacing US Military postions with civilian contractors….

One would assume that quit a few of those contractors have experience in the US Military…..Hint…Hint?

With the 2011 deadline…..

Some small concentration ‘s of US troops and Contractors along with equipment left behind for the Iraq’s is the future there….

Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, said joint U.S.-Iraqi commando raids over the past 90 days had significantly hampered al-Qaeda’s avowed goal of collapsing the Iraqi government and establishing an Islamic caliphate.

Toward that end, al-Qaeda in Iraq — an offshoot of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda organization — had rampaged across Iraq, sowing terror and destruction with suicide bombs, truck bombs, and grisly murders.

Odierno, speaking Friday to reporters at the Pentagon, said the joint U.S.-Iraqi counterterror operations will continue even as U.S. military forces are being withdrawn from Iraq. He said the withdrawals of about 12,500 troops a month are “on track” to reach the goal of 50,000 American military personnel by Sept. 1. Currently there are some 88,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.

ll of the counterterror missions in Iraq, manned by U.S. Army Rangers, Navy SEALs or other special operations forces, are undertaken in conjunction with Iraqi special forces and all have been approved by the Iraqi government. There are no independent U.S. missions, Odierno said……

The Clinton's have two weddings coming up…….

[  The Clinton’s  with Daughter Chelsea ]

[ Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin ]

Their daughter Chelsea Clinton, and Huma Abedin, Hillary’s long time ‘Body Person’  …….

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is planning wedding parties not only for daughter Chelsea but one to honor the upcoming nuptials of long-time aide Huma Abedin as well, POLITICO’s Maggie Haberman reports:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is entering a wedding season of her own. In addition to daughter Chelsea’s wedding, she has her longtime “body person” Huma Abedin’s nuptials, in which the groom is Rep. Anthony Weiner.

So Clinton is throwing a party in honor of Weiner and Abedin at her Kalorama home, according to several people close to Hillaryland.

The party will apparently occur before the wedding, which will be held on Long Island at the beginning of July.

Chelsea Clinton’s own wedding, about whose preps the secretary of state has spoken warmly, is slated for July 31.

Weiner has grown close to the Clintons through Abedin and became something of a surrogate for the then-senator during her presidential run in 2008……

Senate Majority Leader Reid is back to having a Energy Bill this month….Putting Off Immigration….

In a scene somewhat resembling Don’t Ask…Din’t Telll…

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has decided to spare his fellow Democrats  and Lindsey Graham grief…

He has punted…..

And will deal with Energy next……. instead of Immigration…..

Latino/Hispanic  groups are now rallying to just get a few important things attached to any up coming legislation…

They have slowly come to the realization that ….

Immigration is just Big and Toxic for Democrats…

Democrats are not in any shape to go Healthcare on Immigration…..

They more ANY President presses on the subject….

The more troops end up being sent to the border….

While wanted Immigration a couple of months ago…

He’s finally looking good in the polls….

He doesn’t need Immigration hurting his comeback….

Hispanics and Latinos really are stuck…

Just like Blacks are with the democratic party…..

He asked eight chairmen to submit recommendations for how the energy bill could address the Gulf oil spill by July 4.

“I would ask that you provide any recommendations or report legislation, if desired, in your Committee’s jurisdiction, before the Fourth of July recess to address the challenges that I have laid out above so it can be incorporated into a comprehensive clean energy bill for consideration during the July work period,” Reid wrote.

Regan Lachapelle, Reid’s spokeswoman, said that comprehensive immigration reform could still move this year.

But Reid has said the timing will depend on pro-immigration groups rounding up enough Republican support.

“The groups were given a couple a weeks to get some Republicans to cosponsor immigration reform and we’re waiting to hear from them,” Lachapelle said.

Pro-immigration advocates such as Robert Gittelson of Conservatives for Comprehensive Immigration Reform report that Senate Republicans have “closed ranks” against broad reform.

Senate insiders view June and July as the final months of the year to pass sweeping legislation through the upper chamber. Senators have scheduled a five-week recess beginning Aug. 7 to give those facing tough re-elections some time to campaign back home.

Historically, politics takes over the agenda during September and October of an election year. Lawmakers tend to focus on political debates on the floor instead of the substantive negotiations necessary to pass broad controversial legislation.

Some advocates of immigration reform are still holding out hope for comprehensive legislation.

Grisella Martinez, director of policy and legislative affairs at the National Immigration Forum, argued that Reid left himself some wiggle room in his Thursday letter to take up immigration before the August recess.

“As majority leader, he has the capacity to bring whatever he wants to the floor,” she said. “If he wants to make time on the calendar he can do something. I don’t see that statement as ruling out the possibility of immigration moving forward.”

Defense Secretary Gates on Oil Spill….The US Military can't handle it……

The U.S. military has no expertise that could solve the oil spill from a ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on June 4.

“I know there’s been some commentary about this. The truth of the matter is we don’t have any expertise in this area,” Gates told reporters during a visit to Singapore.

As BP has struggled to stop oil from gushing out of its ruptured well, some lawmakers and commentators have called for the American military to take over the effort.

Gates said the military had no magic bullet to address the worst oil spill in U.S. history, though it had provided some equipment and other assistance.

He said that “we’ll do whatever we can to help but this is not our area of specialty.”

The Cap IS working on the Oil pipe in the Gulf…….

Slowly they WILL get this thing done……

I commend the President for now jumping on the media ‘hype’ express…..

And Thad Allen for do a damn good job under intense pressure….

They need to keep him …….

“The vents remain open,” Adm. Thad Allen of the Coast Guard, who is in charge of the federal response to the oil spill, said in a briefing Saturday morning.

Admiral Allen said that while engineers had so far been able to bring 6,000 barrels of oil to the surface, they had been hesitant to close the vents. If they do so, they fear, water will rush in and form the kind of icy hydrates that doomed a previous attempt to cap the leak.

“When we put the cap down, there were four vents on the cap that allow oil to escape that’s not going up through the pipe,” he said. “What you want is you want to keep oil in the containment cap and not let water in, because when water gets in you form hydrates.”

The admiral had initially said that engineers hoped to begin closing the vents on Friday. But on Saturday he said they had not because of fears that the pressure inside the cap would become so great that oil would blast through the imperfect seal.

With the oil staining beaches and killing wildlife across the gulf, and tar balls beginning to surface on the shores of the Florida Panhandle, President Obama said in his weekly Saturday radio address, “We are prepared for the worst, even as we hope thatBP’s efforts bring better news than we’ve received before.”

BP and government officials have said it will take at least until Sunday to fully deploy the containment device and make a definitive assessment of the amount of oil it can collect. BP executives have said that as much as 90 percent of the escaping oil may be contained by the cap if all goes well. A ship on the surface is capable of collecting 15,000 barrels a day, Admiral Allen said.

The cap is a temporary measure. The well cannot be cemented shut until two relief wells are drilled, by August at the earliest.

Technicians, employing submarine robots, worked through the night to begin closing the vents. So far the cap has been able to bear the pressure and there is no sign of hydrates forming. That is viewed by experts as a positive sign because hydrates clogged a similar containment device a month ago and prevented it from capturing the oil effectively.
