The President is more popular than Congress…..

Is anyone surprised with this?

Not me…..

Obama Popular Compared to Congress

A new report from Gallup finds that President Obama has remained more popular relative to Congress than all of his predecessors except George H. W. Bush, with an average 26 point gap between the president’s approval and that of Congress.

“Given all this, it appears that Obama is performing above par relative to the broader negative political climate, although the reason is not clear. His approval rating has been below 50% for most of this year — not good for his party heading into midterm elections — but given that Congress’ ratings are hovering around 20%, it could be much worse.”

Sestak in PA…. compares cleaning up after the GOP… after the Bank mess… to cleaning up after his dog…

Sestak Compares Republicans to His Dog

In a new ad, Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) defends his vote to bail out the banks saying he needed to clean up the economic mess the Republicans left behind just like he has to clean up after his dog.

Young voters at MTV forum challenge Obama on big issues…..

Audience members pressed Obama, asking why they should vote for him again in 2012 when unemployment is currently at 9.6 percent nationally and the military’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy is still in place.

“If the economy does not improve over the next two years, why should we vote you back in?” asked one audience member.

Another young voter told Obama she voted for him because of his “alleged” commitment to equality, and then ask why he had not yet ended the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

Obama responded by defending his economic record with a now familiar checklist of the policies he has put in place and the economy he inherited.

On “Don’t ask, don’t tell,” the president said he believes he has “enough votes in the Senate to go ahead and remove this constraint on me” as the House has done.

“This policy will end, and it will end on my watch,” Obama said.

After a federal judge ruled the policy unconstitutional earlier in the week, the White House has been scrambling to emphasize Obama’s opposition to the policy even as the Justice Department prepares an appeal.

“I can’t simply ignore the laws that are out there,” Obama said……

Misión cumplida: All 33 miners pulled to safety……

Thank Goodness for the people who made it out…

And …

The people that made it possible for that miracle…

In a mesmerizing story of grit, endurance and triumph, the 33 men who had been stuck underground since their gold and copper mine collapsed on Aug. 5 were hoisted to the surface, one by one, in a rescue celebrated across Chile and watched on live television worldwide. At 8:55 p.m. Eastern time, the last of the miners, Luis Urzua, the stoic foreman, was lifted from purgatory, capping off a flawless operation that lasted less than a day.

“I was with God, and I was with the devil,” Sepulveda, the second man freed from the mine, said upon reaching freedom. “They both fought for me. God won.”

Sepulveda then bounded into a field hospital, hugging journalists, nurses and rescue personnel and saying “Thank you, thank you” to anyone within earshot. Stopping for a moment to talk, the 40-year-old told The Washington Post that he never doubted that he would be extricated from the 2,000-foot-deep hole that he and the others called home for 10 weeks.

“We always knew that we would be rescued,” he said. “We never lost faith.”

Your Underwear Is A Window To Your Sexy Soul……

Your Underwear Is A Window To Your Sexy Soul

In 10 Things I Hate About You, we were told that black underwear means you plan on having sex. A new survey kind of confirms it. Among other sweeping generalizations!

We’re sort of confused about this poll, since the Daily Mail describes it thusly, and it’s the Daily Mail doing the describing: “Expert Donna Dawson drew up her list after a poll for laundry experts Dr Beckmann found almost three quarters of women now opt for ‘nude’ underwear – which means they have ‘nothing to hide’.” More details on “the poll for laundry experts Dr. Beckmann” were not forthcoming, nor did we learn in what, exactly, Dawson herself specialized. Something that allows her to give authoritative pronouncements on what different undies mean, apparently…….

Christine O’Donnell’s Confused Debate Night: Candidate Asks For Hint On Recent SCOTUS Cases

[ DE-SEN candidate Christine O’Donnell (R) in a debate with Chris Coons (D) ]

The gift that keeps giving….

Delaware Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell may have mastered her debate talking points and had a “Saturday Night Live” laughline, but had a tough time this evening with some basic questions about issues she’d face if she is elected to the Senate.

The most striking example of that in her CNN-televised debate against Democratic nominee Chris Coons came at the end of the 90-minute forum when O’Donnell could not name a recent Supreme Court case.

The debate moderator Nancy Karibjanian of Delaware First Media asked O’Donnell to talk about a recent high court opinion she disagreed with. The Republican, who defeated Rep. Mike Castle in a primary last month, paused.

“Oh gosh. Give me a specific one,” O’Donnell said after a deer-in-the-headlights moment which you can watch below. Karibjanian said, no, because that was the point: she needed O’Donnell to name one.

House GOP campaign chief predicts gains in ‘mid-40s and above’….

The Dog thinks that number is high…..

I think the Democrats come in 1 o2 seats under the wire and keep the House….

The head of House Republicans’ campaign efforts said the GOP would pick up a number of seats totaling at least in the “mid-40s.”

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas), the head of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), set expectations for his candidates’ performance with just under three weeks left until Election Day.

“We’re just a few weeks from what I believe will be a tsunami,” Sessions told the conservative magazine Newsmax. “For the House of Representatives, I believe we will go mid-40s and above.”

A performance like that on Nov. 2 would have the effect of handing Republicans control of the House, and likely making House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) the new Speaker of the House.

Republicans need a net gain of 39 seats to take back the majority. A number of GOP leaders have been unabashedly optimistic about their chances of making those kinds of gains, though Boehner himself has sought more actively to manage expectations. He said in late August that a GOP majority is an “uphill climb.”

Democrats from President Obama to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have also expressed optimism that they’d keep control of the House, though polling shows them well within risk of losing their majority.

“The polling data right now, the field information looks very good,” Sessions said. “Our candidates are right in touch with the voters.”

Sessions’s counterpart, National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman John Cornyn (Texas), has been more measured in setting expectations for the upper chamber, where the GOP needs to pick up 10 seats to win back a majority.

“I really think it’s probably going to be a two-election cycle transition in the Senate,” he said. “Although if we have a really good day, anything’s possible.”

Woodstock for Conservatives: Dick Cheney Is Back….

Five heart attacks ….

Shooting people ….

And still a die hard Conservative….

Dick Cheney is back…..

A little thinner…

But it’s him….

The Cheneys are celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary, and their well-scripted exchanges included a story about how their big yellow Labrador, who was named Dave for no particular reason, disrupted a meeting with the president and top aides at Camp David by chasing President Bush’s dog, Barney, who yipped and yapped at people and sometimes bit.
“Dave thought Barney was an evil squirrel and went after him,” Lynne explained. The vice president ended the chase by handing a sweet roll to Dave, and they thought the crisis had passed. But when they returned to their cabin, there was a knock on the door and they were informed that until further notice, Dave was barred from Laurel Cabin, which is the main meeting hall at Camp David.
The Bakersfield conference is like the Aspen Ideas Festival or Woodstock for conservatives. Headliners included Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Karl Rove and Sarah Palin as the wrap-up speaker. Three thousand American flags dotted the fairgrounds in honor of the 9/11 victims, a symbol of how much the GOP defines itself around 9/11. Lynn Cheney asked her husband to describe what it was like in the White House that day, which he did as the crowd of several thousand listened attentively.
He related how the Secret Service grabbed him by the back of his belt and shirt collar to propel him through a tunnel and into the President’s Emergency Operations Center under the White House. He talked about issuing the order to shoot down one of the hijacked planes, not realizing at first that it was the hero passengers on Flight 93 who had crashed the plane.
He recalled how he and Lynn had later flown from the South Lawn in a helicopter, the only time someone other than the president had done that. Everyone was concerned about the threat level, and the country’s two top elected officials had to be kept apart in the event of another attack.
Three o’clock in the morning is worry time, Lynne said. “What do you worry about?”

Hillary Clinton Leads the Pack in Bloomberg Popularity Poll…..

Yea….. She’s looking good these days…..

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is the most popular political figure in the nation, receiving a favorable rating of 64 percent in a Bloomberg National Poll released Tuesday. Following close on her heels is the first lady, Michelle Obama, with a 62 percent positive rating.
The two women climbed far above the pack of elected officials, political parties and TV political personalities. Lagging 11 percentage points behind Hillary Clinton, President Obama was in third place with a 53 percent favorable rating in the survey of 1,000 adults conducted Oct. 7-10.
It says quite a lot about politics in the midterms that Jon Stewart, the liberal host of the satirical newscast, “The Daily Show,” came in at 39 percent, ahead of Sarah Palin, a prospective presidential candidate in 2012 and a leader of the Tea Party movement, who pulled in 38 percent. Palin’s counterpart in Tea Party media politics, Glenn Beck, the Fox television host, followed her with 34 percent. And despite the trashing that political parties are taking this year, they did surprisingly well: Democratic (47 percent favorability rating), Republican (45 percent) and the Tea Party (41 percent).
