I just paid $3.67 for a gallon of gas…..

Listen…..

I’m pissed…..

But the best thing about this  IS this……

While standing on-line at the Deli counter at the supermarket…

The topic of conversation was the GAS PRICES!……

The last time I remember this happening was the end of Carter’s one term wonder…

Now  I’m not suggesting that Obama is gonna be another Carter….

He’s far from that right now….

But…..

If things start to go sideways with the economy…..again..

And gas stays above $4.00 a gallon (It’s going there for sure)….

Then I don’t agree with Nate Silver’s assessment that the price of gas won’t have amajor impact on the Presidential races….

Plain and simple….

We all agreed that Obama is a lock for another term is the economy is doing okay…

That isn’t the case right now….

And the way the GOP newbie’s are tearing at the budget it looks like things are gonna get worst….

IF….and that’s a big IF….

The electorate blames Congress and the GOP for this …..

Than Obama

Is a lock….

But If things start to drop again and Obama stands by waiting to see which way the wind blows, as he usually does , before jumping in…

Then all bets are off…..

And….

That would be fucked up…..

The GOP newbie’s wreck the economy along with their rich friends on Wall Street, and in the Banks, who get a pss….

Just to get the Presidency?…..

Do these people have a soul?

China’s workers strike and get higher pay……Higher prices coming for their goods?

[ Striking workers on Monday at Foshan Fengfu Autoparts, which supplies parts to Honda Motor’s joint-ventures in China.]

A sort of revolution in wages is starting in China…..

Honda Motors is settling one strike after another by increasing its Chinese workers pay…..

The trend seems to be spreading……

Another company Foxconn  a huge electronic manufacturing company has had employee deaths rise due to economic and life style problems…..

China ….

In the middle of a enormous economic boom is experiencing capitalistic symptoms…

Increase pay pressure…

Housing issues…

Health and welfare issues…..

The issues are beginning to leak out to the media……

As the Dog has written several months before China must be carefull to handle its economic growth…

Since it needs employment to keep its huge population content with its central controled political system….

Economists say that China’s labor force is growing increasingly bold and that over the past year, periodic strikes in southern China — some even involving global companies — have been resolved quietly or not reported in the media.

To resolve the strike at its transmission plant, Honda offered workers raises of 24 to 32 percent. The strike had forced Honda to shut down its assembly plants in China.

Now Honda, Japan’s second-largest automaker, after Toyota Motor, has been a target again. The exhaust-system factory, which is controlled by a joint venture between a Honda subsidiary and a Chinese company.

Honda owns a network of production facilities in China, including the four car assembly factories and three auto parts manufacturers, as well as two motorbike plants, two plants that make generators, pumps and other power equipment and three research centers.

Those numbers do not include factories opened in China by Honda subsidiaries like Yutaka Giken, which separately runs four auto parts manufacturers in the country.

Honda denied Tuesday that it was vulnerable to more strikes because it had already shown a willingness to increase wages to get employees back to its production lines. “It’s not at all clear at this point whether the two strikes are related,” said Ms. Asanuma, the Honda spokeswoman.

“It’s too early at this point to say whether we are looking at some kind of chain reaction.”

In New Jersey…….Under 21 year old drivers have to have red patch on their plates…..Ooooh!

Man …….this is like setting them up for the cops!

Listen…..

New teenage drivers have a lot of accidents……That’s why insurance rates for over 25 years olds drop dramatically…

I know it true…..I have three grown sons who proved the statistic to me…

But actually young teenage drivers to the cops doesn’t rub me right…..

I hope they repeal the law……

[TEEN]

A New Jersey law requiring young drivers to stick a red decal on their license plates expectedly upset teenagers.

But the ire has crossed generations. Parents, too, are protesting the overhaul of the state’s rules for young drivers.

Debbie Minnick, a mother in Hamilton Township, recently took her 16-year-old to the Motor Vehicle Commission for a learner’s permit. The clerk told her she needed to buy red decals for her daughter.

Ms. Minnick’s response: “When hell freezes over, I’ll buy those stickers,” she said.

One month after the new law went into effect, many New Jersey parents are refusing to abide. As of May 1, small red decals must adorn the license plates of cars driven by new drivers under 21.

New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle Commission says 250,000 drivers are subject to the law. As of last week, it had sold just over 105,000 sets of the decals.

The red badge of inexperience is part of Kyleigh’s Law, which was passed nearly unanimously by the state legislature and signed by then-Gov. Jon Corzine last year. The law is named for a Morris County teenager killed three years ago when the car she was riding in crashed. A new driver was at the wheel.

Gregory Gottlieb, a junior at Atlantic City High School, isn’t putting the decals on his car. His parents are supporting his decision, he said.

“It’s scary, especially for parents who disagree with it,” Mr. Gottlieb said. He co-founded a Facebook group opposing that law that now has more than 30,000 members.

“If any group of drivers should be identifiable, it should be convicted sex offenders, not their prey,” Mr. Gottlieb wrote last year in an op-ed in his local paper, the Press of Atlantic City.

Most of the law’s provisions—restrictions on teenage driving at night, how many people can be in the car, a ban on hands-free cellphones—aren’t as controversial.

The decal—the first of its kind in the nation—is meant to give police a way to enforce restrictions on young drivers.

It IS HOT in India right now!…….

From MyDD……

For those of you who prefer celsuis, that’s 50C and that’s the forecast for northern India. Right now it’s 113F across most of the Indian subcontinent though last week the mercury hit 119F in coastal Gujarat. And it’s not even June yet.

The Guardian has more on the heatwave in India which has already claimed hundreds of lives.

Record temperatures in northern India have claimed hundreds of lives in what is believed to be the hottest summer in the country since records began in the late 1800s.

The death toll is expected to rise with experts forecasting temperatures approaching 50C (122F) in coming weeks. More than 100 people are reported to have died in the state of Gujarat where the mercury topped at 48.5C last week. At least 90 died in Maharashtra, 35 in Rajasthan and 34 in Bihar.

Hospitals in Gujarat have been receiving around 300 people a day suffering from food poisoning and heat stroke, ministers said. Officials admit the figures are only a fraction of the total as most of the casualties are found in remote rural villages.

Wildlife and livestock has also suffered with voluntary organisations in Gujarat reporting the deaths of bats and crows and dozens of peacocks reported dead at a forest reserve in Uttar Pradesh.

“Because of the heat, lakes and other water bodies have been reduced to parched land, making dehydration common in such birds,” said Neeraj Srivastava, a wildlife campaigner

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee……

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

[ The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee ]

This is the first new vehicle from Chrysler and its new partner Fiat……

It has a new SUV has a V-6 Engine that gets 23 miles to a gallon…..

Chrysler released images and specifications on Wednesday of its redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee, two days before production was to begin. The new Jeep, a 2011 model, goes on sale in the United States in June.

The new Grand Cherokee holds a special significance to Chrysler; it is the only major new model introduction scheduled between Chrysler’s 2009 bankruptcy filing and the anticipated 2011 arrival of new models jointly produced with its new partner, Fiat Group of Italy.

The evolutionary styling is not likely to turn off loyalists, but, at the same time, it seeks to appear different enough to turn the heads of drivers of competing brands of sport-utility vehicles. New design features include a double-panel glass roof, trimmer exterior lines and a more premium look to its interior.

Under the hood, the Grand Cherokee has a new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that is capable of getting up to 23 miles per gallon on the highway. That is about 11 percent better than the outgoing model, Chrysler said.

The vehicle rides on a more rigid chassis and new independent front and rear suspension systems. The Grand Cherokee is rated to tow up to 7,400 pounds and offers a choice of three 4×4 systems……

The FBI raids locations in Boston, New Jersey and Long Island…..Times Square tie in?

FBI agents search a car in Brookline, Massachusetts, on Thursday.

[ FBI agents search a car in Brookline, Massachusetts, on Thursday. ]

The FBI and Customs Agents have executed raids in several states this morning…..

They have made statements to the media that the raids have nothing to do with immediate harm to the United States…

The raids ….The Dog would think are follow ups on information gathered by the FBI, The FBI/NYPD Joint Terrorist Task Force and other agencies…..including Intelligence agencies in their search and capture of Faisal Shahzad,……

I would also suppose that Shahzad is giving his interrogators every person he ever talked to about obtaining equipment, travel or information in connection with his Times Square caper…..

It is no coincidence that Customs is in on the action……Since a lot of people involved are probably  in the country with expired visa’s or illegally…

The FBI will be holding a lot more news conferences……

Authorities searched several locations in the Northeast on Thursday in the investigation of the failed Times Square car bombing, an FBI spokeswoman said.

Investigators were searching locations in and around Boston, Massachusetts, and in New York and New Jersey, a federal law enforcement source said.

Gail Marcinkiewicz, an FBI spokeswoman in Boston, said the searches “do not relate to any known immediate threat to the public or any plot against the United States.”

The Justice Department released a statement saying that Thursday’s searches “are the product of evidence that has been gathered in the investigation subsequent to the attempted Times Square bombing.”

During the searches, officials detained two people for “alleged immigration violations,” Marcinkiewicz said. The two have no direct connection to the Times Square bombing investigation, and their arrests were considered “collateral,” a second federal law enforcement source said.

One of the searches unfolded in Brookline, Massachusetts, where police were helping the FBI search a Mobil gas station on Harvard Street, said Lt. Philip Harrington of the Brookline Police Department……

Did the Times Square guy have the Pakistan Taliban PLAN his actions???

I don’t know……

And to tell you the truth……

I ‘ve got to question AG Holders trying to sell it all today…..

Listen………

We all know Faisal Shahzad came to the United States and tried to get a ‘piece of the rock’…..

We all know that his plans and life began to fall apart about two years ago…..

When that began to happen…he went back to pakistan and got some training their from Palestinian Taliban people….

No one has produced one shred  of evidence that the people in Pakistan……PLANNED the Times Square action….

Even the people in Pakistan are of two minds….

There are reports they backed the plan..there are reports they didn’t…..

Holders accusations raise more questions than they solve….

And while the media loves a good story…..

Not all of them are true….

He’s gonna have to do better than todays pronouncements……..

Facts are in order……not Guesses…..

For now the Dog is of the opinion that this was a hard luck opportunist that is actually going to give the US and  the Pakistani’s some good hard Intelliegence….and is gonna spend the next 10 years in jail..before losing his citizenship and being sent packing….

That’s all……

“We’ve now developed evidence that shows the Pakistani Taliban was behind the attack,” Attorney General Eric Holdersaid in an interview on ABC television’s news program “This Week.”

Later, appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” he said the Taliban in Pakistan “directed this plot” and may have also financed it. The Pakistani Taliban, he said, was “intimately involved” in the attempt on May 1 by Faisal Shahzad, an American citizen of Pakistani descent, to blow up gasoline and propane tanks secreted inside a Nissan Pathfinder parked on West 45th Street just yards from the heart of Times Square.

John Brennan, President Obama’s chief counterterrorism adviser, echoed Mr. Holder’s statements Sunday morning, saying that it appeared that Mr. Shahzad, a resident of Bridgeport, Conn., who spent five months in Pakistan until February, was working for Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP. The TTP is believed by some military intelligence officials to have joined forces with Al Qaeda and may be hiding some of its senior leaders, including Osama bin Laden, who was the motivating force behind the 9/11 attack.

“He was trained by them,” Mr. Brennan said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “He received funding from them. He was basically directed here to the United States to carry out this attack.”

Until now, American officials have speculated that the Pakistan Taliban may have trained Mr. Shahzad during his visit to Pakistan, but Sunday’s statements were their most definitive about the Taliban’s role.

The conclusion that the Pakistani Taliban is behind the attempted bombing “underscores the serious threat that we face from a very determined enemy,” Mr. Brennan said on CNN’s ”State of the Union.”

But this also…..

The Pakistani Taliban itself has sent mixed signals on whether it oversaw or sponsored the bungled Times Square bombing. In a video released last Sunday, it claimed responsibility, but on Thursday a spokesman for the group denied it played any role, though it did say it was placing suicide bombers in the United States.

“The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan has had no links with Faisal Shahzad whatsoever,” the spokesman, Azam Tariq, said in a phone call to reporters in Peshawar. “We never imparted training to him, nor had he ever come to us.”

US Car sales jumped in April…….

CARSALES_jp

Wow!…the numbers just took off!

Pent up demand from a year ago and a better US Economy has seen ALL car makers post impressive gains in sales last month……

Hyundai and Nissan had higher numbers that any of the US car manufactureers and Toyota…….

Boosted by a rebounding economy, U.S. auto sales jumped 20% in April as several car makers, including hard-hit Chrysler Group LLC, posted sizable gains.

Chrysler, Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. all reported increases of about 25%. GM’s growth was limited to 7.2% because it its phasing out four brands under its restructuring, but the four brands it is keeping—Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC—saw sales rise 20%.

GM Vice President of Sales Steve Carlisle said the industry’s recovery pace probably would not be as robust as other rebounds in the last half-century but would be steady. “Overall,” he said in a conference call, “the U.S. economic recovery would appear to be on track.”

Ford economist Emily Kolinski Morris said the recent growth in U.S. gross domestic product—it rose 3.2% in the first quarter—is supporting a recovery in car sales. Ford is forecasting that 2010 sales industrywide will rise to 11.5 million to 12.5 million vehicles, up considerably from last year’s 10.4 million. “I would be very surprised to see the sales pace tail off,” she said in a separate conference call……

Among other makers, Hyundai Motor Co. said its U.S. sales rose 30% to 44,023 vehicles, Nissan Motor Co.’s were up 35.1% to 63,769, and Honda Motor Co. saw a rise of 12.5%, to 113,697……

Note……

Toyota’s sales grew at almost the same pace as Ford’s, rising 24.4% to 157,439 vehicles from a year earlier. Toyota said it is extending its U.S. incentive program for a third month as it uses zero-percent financing and free maintenance to spark demand. Toyota’s luxury Lexus brand also is offering cheap lease and financing for the first time.
