Rush cries ‘voter suppression’ – creative little shit, isn’t he…Whatever Works….

In what may be the most breathtaking turn-it-on-its -head moment in political rhetoric, Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday claimed that the Obama campaign and all Democrats and all the pollsters and all the media are conspiring to suppress the Republican vote.

Here’s how it works. Diabolical pollsters ask questions in a dishonest fashion designed to show Obama leading. The media publish and pushes that narrative. The campaign seizes upon this (of course they’re actually behind it but that’s hidden behind an impenetrable veil of secrecy financed by George Soros and Warren Buffet) and it gloats. All of this combines to discourage Romney voters who are made to think there’s just no point in voting since Obama is sure to win.

Presto! Voter suppression.

He’s a marvel he is.

Tommy Thompson has an Obamacare shadow problem with the Tea Party types….

My friend Daniel here is high on Wisconsin Republican  (former Governor and HHS Secrtary), Tommy Thompson …

Thompson has a GOP Primary contest coming up on August 14…

And Tea Party people are after him for being a bit ‘moderate on Healthcare in the past’….

Ouch!

fox6now.com

“While Tommy Thompson has always been at the forefront of health care reform, he has been an aggressive, consistent and outspoken opponent of Obamacare as it harms both the quality of care while introducing 21 new taxes further burdening businesses struggling to make ends meet in an economy driven to a low point by President Obama,” Nemoir said in a statement. “Any effort to say otherwise would be a gross misrepresentation of his position.”

A Marquette Law School poll earlier this month showed the race was tightening ahead of the Aug. 14 primary, with wealthy businessman Eric Hovde closing in on Thompson, and Neumann and state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald well behind. Thompson still had a double-digit lead over his opponents and was the only Republican candidate ahead of Rep. Tammy Baldwin, the Democrat running for the seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl.

The race has enormous implications nationally. A GOP victory in the state would give Republicans a major shot at regaining control of the Senate, which currently stands at 53-47 in favor of the Democrats.

Thompson’s tea party opponents believe that his health care stances give them an opening with GOP primary voters who detest the law. While Thompson has laid out an ambitious plan to replace the health care law, some comments he made before he became a Senate candidate are coming back to haunt him.

In 2006, he hailed the individual mandate included in the Massachusetts health care law. In 2009, he called a Democratic bill approved by the Senate Finance Committee an “important” step to expand coverage and provide “affordable, high-quality health care for all.” Eager to hear praise from a prominent Republican, Obama touted Thompson’s remarks.

Congress WILL try NOT to shut down the Government over spending….

They’re gonna punt…..

Again….

Lets see if the can extract a little MORE drama out of this from the Conservatives in the House?

Senior House and Senate leaders voiced optimism that they could reach agreement on a stopgap spending measure that would prevent a government shutdown shortly before the November election.

Congress has more than two months to figure out how to fund the government this fall, but because lawmakers are only in session for less than three weeks during that time, discussions about a continuing resolution have heated up in recent days. The Senate has made little progress passing annual appropriations bills, necessitating a stopgap measure to keep the government’s lights on through the November election.

It could be political suicide to have a government shutdown before voters go to the polls — for both sides of the aisle. Congress’s approval rating is a scant 16 percent, according to a July Gallup poll.

The central issue has been the length of a stopgap, and both sides appeared to be moving toward a six-month bill, which would keep the government running into 2013.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday talks were occurring “at a high level” and had been “very productive.” Reid also suggested that he would support a continuing resolution that would extend into 2013, aligning him with House conservatives who have pushed their leadership for a six-month bill. “It would be to my preference that we do something that would alleviate this being an issue that we have during the lame duck,” Reid said….

The President orders some illegal immigrant children’s deportations halted……

In a message to the Latino and anti-immigration people….

The President has moved forcefully to do something he had been reluctant to pursue ….

For Obama the issue had been festering recently….

(I did a post on this recently)….

Latino’s are solidly behind  Obama , by more than 60%….

But the recent headline a few days ago that the OBAMA Administration had been carrying out RECORD deportations had begun to move around the Latino and Hispanic communities and Obama was seeing figures in the polls that Latino’s where NOT gonna come out and vote come November…..

There  is more to this story….

The new order applies to young illegals (under 30) that would qualify for the much talked about Dream Act….

 and…

They must have clean records…..

In another action…

Ex- Mississippi Republican Governor Haley Barbour  ( he leads a pro-Romney Pac) has come out for a process to offer citizenship to the 12 million long term illegal’s in the United States….

This position is somewhat similar to what Mitt Romney had first advocated in the GOP primaries before he scurried back to the hard right position of NO path to citizenship….

Didn’t Romney us the term’self-Deportation?”…..

The policy is designed to aid immigrants who would have been affected by the DREAM Act, a Democratic-backed bill that would have put many students and veterans on a path to citizenship but failed to win passage in Congress. The White House had been reluctant to go around Congress to resolve the issue, but began to feel pressure from advocates when a prominent Hispanic Republican, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, began working with activistson a scaled-back version of the bill.

The move puts pressure on presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who ran to the right of the field on immigration during the GOP primaries.

Another development:

At a Christian Science Monitor breakfast Friday, former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour (R) forcefully advocated for a program of legalization for illegal immigrants currently in the country.

“We’re not going to deport 12 million people, and we shouldn’t,” said Barbour…..

BP Oil Spill Civil Trial set to begin …..Breaking….Trial delayed for a week….

The Associated Press ‏ @AP  (2/26/12 – 3:36PM)

BREAKING: Gulf oil spill trial delayed, allowing another week for settlement talks, people close to case say -RJJ

The civil trial is set to begin in a New Orleans Courtroom while settlement talks continue….

The Trial could set the civil penalties and percent of responsibilities for the parties involved…

In addition, the outcome of THIS matter could effect other civil suits and a possible criminal investigation by the Justice Department….

An unfair resolution could also spell political trouble in the region for the Administration……

Lawyers involved in the case said settlement talks were continuing through the weekend. Unlike Exxon, which spent two decades fighting damage claims over the 1989 Exxon Valdez tanker spill in Alaska, BP has been eager to put to rest the entire affair surrounding its ill-fated Macondo exploration well. But while opposing sides often reach agreement on the eve of trials, lawyers familiar with the case said the trial would probably move ahead. “The parties remain significantly far apart,” said one of the lawyers, on the condition of anonymity because negotiations are ongoing.

Firm numbers were hard to come by, but some sources said that the private plaintiffs group and the Justice Department were each seeking more than $25 billion in civil claims. If the Justice Department decides to file criminal charges, that would be a separate trial.

Possible outcomes

Any settlement by the Justice Department could have political impact if voters see it as not large enough given the size of the spill and of BP, still one of the world’s biggest oil giants. The associate attorney general in charge of negotiations, Thomas J. Perrelli, also oversaw talks that led to the recent $26 billion foreclosure abuse settlement with major banks. Perrelli, a law school acquaintance of President Obama, is leaving the department March 9 after three years as its No. 3 official.

If the trial moves ahead, lawyers for the plaintiffs’ steering committee and the Justice Department are expected to attack BP and rig owner Transocean, saying that their gross negligence and willful misconduct led to the blowout on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, which caught fire and sankApril 20, 2010, killing 11 people and eventually spilling as much as 4.9 million barrels of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

If found guilty of gross negligence, BP and Transocean could have to pay $4,300 a barrel instead of $1,100 a barrel in federal fines under the Clean Water Act and Oil Pollution Act for oil that was not recaptured. (Under one scenario,BP pays $3.5 billion)

10 Years after 9/11 2001….New York City and the World will remember…..

It is with a heavy heart that I will get thru September 11, 2011…

For I knew personally some of the people who did not come home from that days events…

For that day 10 years ago my job was to comfort the children on the people who worked in New York City…

On that day my contribution was to assure those worried that their children were in a safe place….

I am happy to One World Trade Center rebuilt….

I spent passing time in the old one….

I pass on my prays to people who lost loved ones on that day in threelocations in America…

I pray for strength for the people who have to live with their loses…

And I hope that while some of us may complain about the coasts…

I can only hope that our Government and it’s actor will spare nothing to do what ever they can to make sure that

NOTHING

like this will EVER happen again….

Amen…..

The Dog…..

From the New York Times…..

By MICHAEL HOWARD SAUL

New York City will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a ceremony at the World Trade Center site on Sunday, when the nation pauses to grieve for the dead and reflect on the decade since terrorists toppled the Twin Towers, damaged the Pentagon and crashed a jetliner in rural Pennsylvania.

President Barack Obama and his predecessor, former President George W. Bush, will be among the eight current or former elected officials to deliver readings at the ceremony, which is set to begin at 8:35 a.m. with the sound of bagpipes and drummers. Mr. Obama, the first sitting president to attend the annual ceremony, gave the green light earlier this year for the military mission that killed Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the deadliest foreign attack on American soil.

While most of the attention will focus on New York’s ceremony, there will also be events at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, plus many smaller observances in communities across the country, from a stair climb in Seattle to a 9/11 memorial dedication in Sarasota, Fla.

On Saturday in Shanksville, Pa., the 40 passengers and crew who fought back against their hijackers aboard Flight 93 before it crashed on Sept. 11 were honored for their heroism in a ceremony dedicating the first phase of a memorial at the nation’s newest national park, the Associated Press reported.

The hijackers intended to crash the plane in Washington but “never made it because of the determination and valor of the passengers and crew of Flight 93, that plane crashed in this field, less than 20 minutes by air” from the target, said Jon Jarvis, director of the National Park Service, according to the AP.

Vice President Joe Biden and former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were among those attending the Shanksville event, the AP said.

The 10th anniversary also marks the official opening of the National September 11 Memorial—twin reflecting pools that sit within the footprints of the Twin Towers and feature bronze panels on which the names of the dead are inscribed. A 9/11 museum is scheduled to open at the World Trade Center site next September.

“As we reflect back on the past, let us remember not only the agony and anguish of the attacks but how we channeled our pain into something positive and powerful,” New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday in a speech about the rebirth of Lower Manhattan. “Let us remember not only how the towers fell, but how we rose up—determined to defend our freedoms.”

What do you do In The Country after you get rid of the bad guy Running the Country?

That seems to be a recurring theme for the US and NATO thru the years….

As this piece from the Atlantic by James Joyner points out…..

Mommar Gaddafi is gonna be out of Libya sooner or later….

When that occurs…..

What’s gonna happen?

As we see in several countries …

Replacing the bad guy running the show creates a vacuum…

That creates unrest…

Unrealistic  expectations by the masses…..

And of course an oppountity by an organized opposition that often finds itself as the ONLY organized body…

All this the country has to continue running itself with with same corrupt people stealing from its population even if the head of the bad guy is gone….

So as in Iraq and Egypt….

What will happen in Libya when the time comes?

“Getting Libya back on its feet will be an unwieldy, and probably fractious, process in which many scores are settled against those who once supported the Gaddafi regime. But the problem is, of course, that much like in the former Soviet satellites in Eastern Europe, virtually everyone at one point or another had to deal with the regime to survive. Unless political authority can be restored quickly, the sorting out of claims will undoubtedly be a bloody affair in light of the pent-up frustration that is now being released.”

James Dorsey noted for Al Arabiya recently, “The immediate problems Libyans and the international community will have to address once Mr. Qaddafi departs are huge and so are the potential pitfalls. The problems include restoring and maintaining law and order; securing basic services such as food, water and energy; achieving international recognition of a post-Qaddafi government; resuming oil exports to ensure funding for the new government; and kick starting Libya’s stagnating economy.”

He noted, “Anticipating the need to maintain security, avoid violent revenge and retribution and ensure that a post-Qaddafi government gets off to a good start, some US commanders, including Admiral Samuel Locklear, NATO’s joint operations chief in Naples, and General Carter Ham, who runs the US military’s Africa Command, have suggested that United Nations or African Union peacekeepers would have to be inserted into Libya once Mr. Qaddafi has been removed from power.”

The parallels with Iraq are eerie. In his seminal work on that conflict, Fiasco, Thomas Ricks quotes Major Isaiah Wilson, the official Army historian of the spring 2003 invasion and later strategic planner in Iraq saying that there was “no single plan as of 1 May 2004 that described an executable approach to achieving the stated strategic endstate for war.” Joint Staff officer Gregory Gardner explained why: “Politically, we’d made a decision that we’d turn it over to the Iraqis in June” 2003. Additionally, an Army War College study found, what little planning there was for post-conflict stabilization was predicated on the unfounded assumption that “the international community would pick up the slack.”

To tell Ya truth….I don’t even know if the Republican’s know WTF is going on…..

As I begin to read in for the Dog a little while ago something strikes me….

The theatre in the round that titled the ‘Debt Ceiling/Budget Talks’ is all over the place…..

First there’s this from Politicalwire…….

Three Tracks Towards a Debt Limit Deal

First Read: “With the clock ticking until the Aug. 2 deadline, there are essentially three tracks to resolve the debt-ceiling standoff. One track is McConnell-Reid, the ongoing negotiations between the Senate Majority Leader and Senate Minority Leader to pass a ‘failsafe’ debt ceiling increase without majorities of Congress having to approve it, and it’s losing a lot of steam (right now). The second track is the talks between President Obama and House Republicans John Boehner and Eric Cantor, as they try to revive a ‘grand bargain’ — and it’s a track that is a LOT more active than folks realize. And the third track is a second grand-bargain-style deal — this one by the Gang of Six in the Senate.”

One huge problem: “There is currently no plan out there that could get through the House. And that’s raised chatter on Capitol Hill that the only way to convince enough House Republicans to support ANY track is for the Dow Jones to collapse, a la what happened with TARP in 2008.”

Then there is this from CNN….

President Obama met with party leaders. House Speaker Boehner had talks over pizza with tea party conservatives. House leaders also met. But there still is no plan to keep the U.S. from defaulting on its debt. FULL STORY

Of course the Money people over at Wall Street are smart enough to know that it looks like the August 2nd deadline isn’t gonna be much of a deadline (Obama is not gonna what I think he should do which is STOP writting Federal checks ) so they have set in motion this action mentioned in the New York Times….

Wall Street Makes Fallback Plans in Event of U.S. Default

By LOUISE STORY and JULIE CRESWELL

Lawmakers in Washington are racing to reach a deal to save the country from defaulting on its debt, but financial players are devising doomsday plans in case the clock runs out……

Like I said in the tittle to this post….

Things are fluid…

So fluid that NOBODY seems to saying what the final outcome will be….

Certainly not the Speaker of the House John Boehner who seems to be a ally fight with his Majority Leader…

Cantor and his ‘no negotiating group’ is either amenable to something…..

Or…

Nothing that doesn’t cut the balls out of  the budget right now and sticks it to the Democrats and hurts Obama….

Quit frankly only the inside players know the score…

The media is just guessing ….

Casey Anthony verdict….The media didn’t get it right…

My wife’s been following this case down in Orlando….

I haven’t until a few days ago….

Casey Anthony is a young mother who didn’t call authorities about here missing child for about 30 days…

The child’s body was found in bad shape…

The death was a mystery…

In fact to this day NO ONE know quite how the child died….

Oh, little Cayle Anthony was duct taped and drowned it’s reported….

Here’s the weird thing….

The child’s mother during this period went out a partied….

And then there is even more…

The grand parents of the child  (Casey mother and father)where looked at as possible ‘persons of interest’…

Her Dad is a ex-Homicide Detective…

There is also an old bot friend angle and more….

That’s a little background….

My wife and I discussed the case after it was sent to the jury over the July 4th weekend….

I watched two different talking heads yesterday….

So Defense lawyer on Fox who thought the case was a slam dunk for the Prosecution and

Jane Velez Mitchell from CNN’s Court Channel…

The media outlets….

Virtually ALL of them where reporting that Casey Anthony was a done deal for a conviction on most …if not all of charges and was on trial for her life….

Somebody forgot to tell the jury that….

Hours ago the came back with NOT GUILTIES for….

Murder….

Manslaughter….

Felony Child Abuse…..

Valez Mitchell had been right….

The case presented by prosecutors didn’t sway the jury which came back with a verdict convicting Casey Anthony of lying to the cops….

That all….

Those are misdemeanors….

Which means with time served …..(Anthony has been in jail since her arrest. 3 years ago)..

She’ll be out of jail shortly….

I watched with amusement all the talking heads on several channel try to play off the fact that they just about ALL got this wrong….

Very wrong….

Listen from what I read and what my wife has told me….

Casey Anthony wasn’t the best mother in the world….

After the verdict her parents left the courtroom without saying a word….

A beautiful kid is gone in a horrible way….

And like it or not…

Casey Anthony DID time and was scared in the courtroom today…

Something bad happened to that child…

But….

The media clearly missed the train on this one….

There seemed to be so much circumstantial evidence and almost no direct evidence that Casey Anthony ….Or for that matter ANYONE hurt the child….

The media pushed for a conviction….

The jury had the last word….

Cleared of murder charges in death of 2-year-old daughter
