Primary results 2012: Mitt Romney ‘s 5-state sweep

Mitt and Ann Romney greet the crowd Tuesday. | AP Photo There was little suspense in tonight’s elections. Only in Delaware, where Newt Gingrich camped out in recent days and collected endorsements from top local officials, was Romney at any risk of losing. Even a Gingrich victory there would have been unlikely to complicate Romney’s glide to the Republican convention in Tampa. (Also on POLITICO: GOP delegate tracker) But with nearly all of the vote reported, Romney was crushing Gingrich in Delaware by a 30-percentage-point margin. Speaking to supporters in Manchester, N.H., Romney declared a formal end to the primary season and predicted: “Together, we are going to win on Nov. 6.” “After 43 primaries and caucuses, many long days and more than a few long nights, I can say with confidence and gratitude that you have given me a great honor and solemn responsibility,” he said, framing the general election as a test of the country’s economic resilience. Said Romney: “The last few years have been the best that Barack Obama can do. But it’s not the best America can do.” Romney has not yet secured enough delegates to clinch the GOP nomination officially, but he has already been treated by his party as its presumptive nominee for two weeks, since Rick Santorum ended his White House bid earlier this month. I just paid $3.67 for a gallon of gas…..

Listen…..

I’m pissed…..

But the best thing about this  IS this……

While standing on-line at the Deli counter at the supermarket…

The topic of conversation was the GAS PRICES!……

The last time I remember this happening was the end of Carter’s one term wonder…

Now  I’m not suggesting that Obama is gonna be another Carter….

He’s far from that right now….

But…..

If things start to go sideways with the economy…..again..

And gas stays above $4.00 a gallon (It’s going there for sure)….

Then I don’t agree with Nate Silver’s assessment that the price of gas won’t have amajor impact on the Presidential races….

Plain and simple….

We all agreed that Obama is a lock for another term is the economy is doing okay…

That isn’t the case right now….

And the way the GOP newbie’s are tearing at the budget it looks like things are gonna get worst….

IF….and that’s a big IF….

The electorate blames Congress and the GOP for this …..

Than Obama

Is a lock….

But If things start to drop again and Obama stands by waiting to see which way the wind blows, as he usually does , before jumping in…

Then all bets are off…..

And….

That would be fucked up…..

The GOP newbie’s wreck the economy along with their rich friends on Wall Street, and in the Banks, who get a pss….

Just to get the Presidency?…..

Do these people have a soul?

CNN Poll…..52% think President Obama doesn't deserve to be re-elected President….

From The Hill.……

52 percent of Americans said President Barack Obama doesn’t deserve reelection in 2012, according to a new poll.
44 percent of all Americans said they would vote to reelect the president in two and a half years, less than the slight majority who said they would prefer to elect someone else.

Obama faces a 44-52 deficit among both all Americans and registered voters, according to a CNN/Opinion Research poll released Tuesday. Four percent had no opinion.

Some feed back on the piece……

Lets see…….. Rasmussen has him at 49%….Gallup at 53%…and CNN with these numbers …….who do you believe?

Oh, yea…these numbers won’t really mean anything till early 2012…..right?

Merlin looking at the 2012 Senate Landscape…….

Hello Dog!

I know it’s very early BUT it’s never too late to look at the 2012 Senate Landscape.

The Democrats could be in quite some trouble in 2012 if they don’t have around 55 Seats after this years Midterms. Over the Course of 2009 over at P1 I mentioned a few possible Retirements come the end of this year and 2011.

One Senator who is BOUND to Retirement Rumors as soon as the Midterms are over is Wisconsin Senior Senator Herbert “Herb” Kohl (D-WI)

According to the latest Fundraising Reports with the Federal Election Commission Kohl has only 24.476,73 $ Cash on Hand at the end of 2009.

Kohl would be 76 years old in 2012 and will LIKELY draw a serious GOP Challenger like for example Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)

Kohl first got elected to the United States Senate in 1988.

Democrats have 22 Seats to defend in 2012 while Republicans have only to defend 10 Seats.

I’m sticking with my Call that Republicans will take over the Senate after the 2012 Presidential Election. Doesn’t matter that Obama is on the Ballot that year because HE CAN’T SAVE all competitive Seats – Period.

Merlin

The Dog feels its way to early for any calls…..But the Senate and the House should stay as Democratic simple majorities until at least 2012…maybe longer…. if Obama can get his act together……and help his fellow party members out…..

GOP 2012…..Huckabee pulls ahead……….and works the money train…..

It seems that in the early race for the GOP nod for the 2012 Presidential run, former Arkansas Republican Governor,  Mike Huckabee has pulled ahead………A new Rasmussen Poll…has him leading Romney ( who\’s PAC has $2 million vs Hucks $430,000, or so ) by  44% to 39% …….now I know it’s three years out…but the race has already begun and will be the exclusive primary story since Obama will be the democratic nominee………..

And just in case you didn’t  know this……Huckabee favors the conservative republican, Marco Rubio in Florida, over the moderate republican Governor Charlie Crist in that states run for the senate…..Says Huckabee of Rubio…..“It stunned me when the [National Republican Senatorial Committee] came out and made an endorsement for Charlie Crist in that race. That was absurd,” Huckabee said. “Guys like Marco are the future of the party. What I see in him is what I want to see in all of our candidates.”.

The thought that Crist has clear sailing down there is increasing becoming clouded…….

Interestingly, right now Palin leads forever choice Newt Gingrich in that poll…….

Stay tuned for more……….
