Daniel……Arizona Senate: McCain leads Glassman, Hayworth trails him according to a new Survey from Public Policy Polling

Hello Folks!

2008 Presidential Candidate John McCain (R-AZ) has taken a BIG hit in his Approvals according to a new Survey from Public Policy Polling.

He still though leads Democrat Rodney Britz Glassman (D-AZ) by 13 Points in a General Election Match-Up.

What will certainly create more buzz around Democratic Circles is that Glassman leads McCain’s Chief Republican Rival J. D. Hayworth (R-AZ) by 3 Points.

Note to Readers: PPP is set to release Numbers for the Republican Primary in the Senate Race tomorrow.

Analysis:

Okay, we know McCain wouldn’t be in trouble against a Democrat.

Crunching out these Numbers I REALLY REALLY wonder how close Hayworth is in the GOP Primary.
McCain MUST be in BIG TROUBLE there. See, McCain could be facing the same fate as Utah Senator Robert “Bob” Bennett (R-UT). That would be CURIOUS if McCain would lose giving Democrats a shot at his Senate Seats.

More: HAD Obama not chosen former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano (D-AZ) as his Homeland Sec. McCain could be heading into a very competitive TOSS-UP Race or EVEN DEFEAT. I’m anxiously waiting on these Primary Numbers.

Bottom Line:

With McCain Dems have ZERO Chance, without him it’s a TOSS-UP.

J.D. Hayworth is running against Sen. John McCain in Arizona….

Former congressman and radio talk show host J.D. Hayworth formally announced today that he will take on Arizona Sen. John McCain in the state’s Republican primary — handing the 2008 presidential nominee what could be his toughest re-election challenge in years.

Hayworth is one of several insurgent GOP candidates running against established figures across the country. Similar races are shaping up in Florida and Kentucky, for instance. To read more about the Arizona race, check out this story that appeared in today’s USA TODAY.

Hayworth began his campaign with a rally in Phoenix today and has a three-day statewide tour scheduled, according to the Associated Press. Also today, Chris Simcox, co-founder of an anti-illegal immigrant group, has dropped out of the race and will endorse Hayworth, Politico reports here.

McCain told USA TODAY over the weekend that he takes every race seriously and that he will work hard for support. “I know of no other way to campaign,” he said.

That effort continues with a busy schedule in his home state this week. Today he received the endorsements of 31 Arizona mayors at an event in Phoenix. McCain is “leading the fight to get our economy moving again by getting government out of the way of our dynamic private sector,” Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman said in a statement.

The primary is set for Aug. 24.

Merlin on the Arizona Senate races……Hayworth will challange McCain…..

Hi Dog!

Some interesting Developments in Arizona these. Yesterday former Rep. J.D. Hayworth quit his Radio Show. Also, the Arizona Daily Star confirmed yesterday that Hayworth will primary 2008 Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain.

Quote from Hayworth:

“We will formally announce at a later time, but we’re moving forward to challenge John McCain,” he said. “I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it’s time for him to come home.”

He said he wasn’t serious about running against McCain until a recent “outpouring of support” from Arizonans asking him to run changed his mind.

“Arizonans have a clear choice _ a clear, commonsense, consistent conservative, or they can remain with a moderate who calls himself a maverick,” Hayworth said.

A new Rasmussen Reports Poll is showing John McCain, with a big lead.

Rasmussen Survey

Arizona Senate 2010

Republican Primary

Incumbent Senator John McCain  53 %

Former Rep. J.D. Hayworth  31 %

Chris Simcox  4 %

Others  3 %

Undecided  8 %

Full Results at Rasmussen Reports.com   The Primary is August 24th.

Merlin’s Take:

Currently the Democrats haven’t put up a credible Candidate. With Haywoth’s pending Entry I’m sure the DSCC will be trying to get popular Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon into this Race. Gordon is also an Option for Rep. John Shadegg’s Seat who is retiring. It’ll be interesting to see who gets the better of this, DCCC Chair Chris Van Hollen or DSCC Bob Menendez.

The Dog has gotten 411 on J.D. Hatworth from  I Brandon (from over at P1) and we have to post it up here……J.D. Hayworth is a bit of a character folks…..here’s his wiki info……..he, he, he…I post some of the best parts….

– In 1998, Hayworth was voted the second biggest “windbag” in Congress in Washingtonian magazine’s survey of 1,200 congressional staff members of both parties.

– Between 1999 and 2005, Hayworth received $69,000 from lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his clients, primarily from Indian tribes. $62,000 of the money went to TEAM PAC.[10] After Abramoff was convicted of defrauding the tribes, Hayworth decided to keep the donations. His chief of staff, Joe Eule, said to the Arizona Republic, “The tribes have told us, ‘We love you. We loved you before we met Jack Abramoff, and we love you after Jack Abramoff, and we think it would be foolish of you to (give back) the money.

Read the link….there’s more……

Even I’d vote for McCain anytimee over this chump…..
