John Yoo…the guy who told the government and President Bush they could torture people….

This from Mydd.com about John Yoo…….who worked from 2001 to 2003  ( Bush II ) in the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) and who wrote a series of legal opinions that provided cover for the Bush Administration’s use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” and “domestic wiretapping”…….he’s try to sell his book…..’Crisis and Command: A History of Executive Power from George Washington to George W. Bush’…….

Yoo does an interview with the New York Times reporter Deborah Solomon…….

Solomon: Do you regret writing the so-called torture memos, which claimed that President Bush was legally entitled to ignore laws prohibiting torture?

Yoo: No, I had to write them. It was my job. As a lawyer, I had a client. The client needed a legal question answered.

Solomon: When you say you had “a client,” do you mean President Bush?

Yoo: Yes, I mean the president, but also the U.S. government as a whole.

Solomon: But isn’t a lawyer in the Department of Justice there to serve the people of this country?

Yoo: Yes, I think you are quite right, when the government is executing the laws, but if there’s a conflict between the president and the Congress, then you have to pick one or the other.

Solomon: Were you close to George Bush?

Yoo: No, I’ve never met him. I don’t know Cheney either. I have not gone hunting with him, which is probably a good thing for me.

Solomon: Weren’t you invited to the White House Christmas party during your two years at the Department of Justice?

Yoo: I don’t think so. That’s the way the government works. There’s the attorney general, then the deputy attorney general and then an associate attorney general. Then there’s the assistant attorney general, who was the head of my office.

Solomon: So you’re saying you were just one notch above an intern, you and Monica Lewinsky?

Yoo: She was much closer to the president than I ever was.

This is very scary…..very scary……this guy guy set in motion a whole national security policy?????

Royal Dutch Shell and their partners, win a bid to develop a 12.6 Billion barrel huge oil field…in Iraq!

The Majnoon oil field  in, southern Iraq is ONE OF THE LARGEST OIL FIELDS IN THE WORLD……

Yes….. in the whole world……that’s what they say…..

Anglo-Dutch Shell and Petronas, a consortium will only make $1.39 a barrel on the venture…..but they expect to increase the output of the currently pumping field to make their profit…..there are other oil fields in the country that are expected to be turned over to developers to bring more oil out of the ground…..for instance, the oil fields in the eastern part of the country (Diyala province) are far too dangerous for outside companies to venture into….

The promising thing about this situation is that within a few years there should be a ten fold increase in oil revenue generated from the countries vast oil reserves…..

Note: Iraq has the world’s largest known oil reserves…..

Note 2:…..If you don’t  think Bush and Obama weren’t briefed on the info in the last sentence……. you’re crazy…..

Note 3:…Don’t count on American troops ever being completely out of that country…ever….

Iraq slips backwards to right after the American first so called ‘win’……

Iraq is right back where it was after Bush\’s so called first \”win\’ there.…In that case remember……the Saddam Hussein people having suffer a loss to America in a straight out military action turned to tried, and true action employed be others (notably in by the Palestain’s in Israel) …of bombings…….

Well in the last week, we\’ve gone back there……the country is busy trying to get ready for election  and the United States wants to make sure everyone knows that they are pulling out ‘combat troops’……

For two reasons Obama is happy to go that way…..Because he’s gonna send more troops next door to Afghanistan…and because he can have a big campaign promise for filled in 2012, when he runs again……but things are never that easy…are they?

We all know that the US is never gonna get rid of all the troops in Iraq…as a matter of fact Nouri al-Maliki, the countries Prime Minister has announced a few weeks ago that the Iraqi’s are not gonna hold the US to it’s withdrawal date of 2011….( Obama still said a few day’s ago we’ll have the combat troops out on time, don’t bet on it)……..

With this campaign, as we see, we are back to the juggling by the different factions in the country for power…. While enjoying the last year as a mostly stable place, Iraq, as other countries in the Middle East, has more of the ‘iron fist’ method of working its politics, than the relative peaceful bickering in the Europe, Asia and the America’s…….

Stay tuned……

There IS a misconnect between the US and Israel about Iran…….

There has been a steady stream of US diplomats and cabinet secretaries  traveling to Israel, ever since Obama’s less than satisfactory meeting with the Saudi’s in June……While Obama is trying the ‘jaw boning’  approach, in trying to get peace the Middle East, the Israeli’s are thinking about one thing……..Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear bomb………the Israeli’s asked Bush for permission to go the last time, and it was denied……I’m not too sure they are going to hold back a next time….. and everyone knows that an attack will wreck  any peace attempts in the region for long time (hence the reason for the vists?)……
