The L.A. Lakers meet the President….at the White house….and celebrate The Chicago Bulls….

Obamalakers

Now this is the real reason you want to be president. Hang around with pro jocks and get your own big league jersey from all the championship teams that visit the White House’s East Room for an a-political photo op.

Unemployment is for saps. And healthcare can wait a while after Celtics fans voted their verdict in Massachusetts last week. Although Republican Sen.-elect Scott Brown and his athletic daughters do play hoops and challenged No. 44 to some two-on-two. But the Obama White House doesn’t allow girls in its games (presidential daughters excluded).

Anyway, now that it’s 2010, President Obama had a celebration today for the 2009 NBA champs and posed for a smiling team photo. But the Illinois president couldn’t help reminiscing about some real champs from Chicago back in the 1990’s who won six — not four — league titles with the amazing Phil Jackson as coach.

Oh, wait, is that the same Phil Jackson in this photo?

So, six championships for Chicago. Let’s see. That’s two more more than L.A. with Jackson. Fifty percent more trophies in the Windy City.

Before hailing the Lakers, Obama hailed “some wonderful members of Congress,” an oxymoron to many Americans these days when those bodies have Cheney-like poll numbers.

Without his teleprompter Obama slipped up slightly and started talking about the only thing that’s better than playing basketball. But he caught himself. So the world is left to guess what the one thing better than basketball is.
