Senator Mitch McCollonell has his hands full with Rand Paul, Jim DeMint and others……..

[ Rand Paul ]

I did something similar a few days ago on South Carolina’s Senator Jim DeMint…..

The Washington Post has done a piece on Kentucky’s Rand Paul……

The Post piece mirror’s my piece on the fight going on for the soul of the Republican party……

That same Conservative purity test that Daniel and others wants is pushing at the ‘old guard of the GOP’ who …in office….. MUST make deals with the Democrats to have any influence in the legislative process….which puts them at odds with the new purists…

AS with anything in life…

It easy to stand outside and throw stones…..

But harder to manage and ‘do’ in a club of 100 legislatures …….

When Senate candidate Rand Paul told a lunchtime crowd at Shearer’s Buffet that “we have to do things differently” in Washington and “bring ’em home and send some different Republicans,” it wasn’t hard to make the jump from this rural area near the Tennessee border to the top Republican in the state, if not the country: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Paul, a “tea party” activist and the son of Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.), a former presidential candidate, is not the first person this year to blame leaders in Washington for the nation’s ills. What’s remarkable about this primary campaign is that McConnell isn’t even on the ballot. Paul is running against Secretary of State Trey Grayson.

McConnell, 68, is widely credited with building the Kentucky Republican Party — the GOP headquarters in Frankfort is even named for him. Just a few months ago, it seemed inconceivable that he couldn’t push Grayson, his handpicked candidate, to victory Tuesday. Now, not only is Grayson in trouble — he trails in the polls by double digits — but his association with McConnell isn’t helping.

“They go, and they stay too long, they lose their way, and as they do they become corrupted by the system,” Paul, 47, an eye surgeon making his first run for office, told a group of about 30 supporters over breakfast at Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in the tiny town of Albany. “The longer you’re there, the more you succumb to the power, the more you think you are somehow different or more important than the rest.”

McConnell was unavailable for an interview, and his spokesman declined to comment for this article. But Grayson rejected the idea that the race has become areferendum on McConnell or Grayson’s connection to him. “He’s actually got more D.C. ties than me,” Grayson said of Paul.

GOP Sen. Jim DeMint favors HIS Conservatives…….

The Republican’s are beginning to act like the Democrats…..

The is some drama going on in the endorsement department…..

With people NOT following the party line…..

[ Jim DeMint ]

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) is endorsing state Sen. Marlin Stutzman in the GOP primary for retiring Sen. Evan Bayh’s (D-Ind.) seat, according to Fox News.
DeMint’s endorsement comes just days after Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) backed another lesser-known candidate, Rep. John Hostettler (R-Ind.). Former Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) is the favorite in the GOP primary, but thanks to a late start and some less-than-outstanding fundraising numbers, the May 4 primary looks to be up in the air.

From Fox:

With the Republican primary in Indiana’s US Senate race just two weeks out, candidate Marlin Stutzman picked-up an endorsement from a potential future colleague. Senator Jim DeMint from South Carolina told Fox News exclueively that Stutzman was his choice in the Hoosier State’s five-candidate GOP primary.

DeMint disclosed to Fox News senior producer Trish Turner late Monday about his decision to back Stutzman.

“I like Dan (Coats). I like John (Hostettler), but we need new faces here,” said DeMint.

The Palmetto State Senator continued, “(Stutzman’s) not as well known as the other two, but what we’ve seen … (Stutzman’s) won just about all the straw polls. The activists are beginning to know who he is, and that’s the reason I decided to get in. I’m trying to give some spotlight to the underdogs.”

SE on RedState…again…..Part 5…..

From SE…………
RedState’s Erick Erickson Opens His Big Mouth…AGAIN-Part 5

Not one day goes by where Erickson doesn’t show us his false-Conservatism. This time, through the most idiotic post I’ve seen yet:

Another day another story about Oxedine that should give voters pause.

Last May, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that two Rome, Ga. insurance companies – State Mutual Insurance Co. and Admiral Life Insurance Co. – sent checks to the 10 PACS. The insurance companies are both headed by the same CEO, Delos “Dee” Yancey III. The PACs are administered by the son of Donald V. Watkins, the head of the bank who also sits on the board of both insurance companies. The bank also once was co-owned by Yancey’s father.

Most of the PACs had little or no money in their accounts before the infusion of cash.

Once the payments were made from the insurance companies, the PACs each sent $12,000 – a total of $120,000 — to Oxendine’s campaign. The money was all sent in the same amounts and on the same dates from all the PACs.

The banks that handled the accounts have been subpoenaed by the State Ethics Commission, but as they are in Alabama, they are refusing to honor the subpoenas. Now the Attorney General will probably get involved and ask a court in Alabama to have the banks honor the subpoena request.

This will just keep this story alive to keep clubbing the Ox.

I get that Georgia Primary voters know Ox more than most of the other candidates because he’s been kissing their butts since 1994. It’s not them I’m worried about. It’s the non-primary voters who can quickly see through the pandering veneer into what a reckless politician he is.

Hopefully primary voters will be smart enough to see the danger and reject Oxendine. The best thing that could happen to the Georgia GOP is to see the end of Oxendine’s political career.

Unless a subpoena comes from the same state as the Insurance Companies are in, they don’t have to turn over any information. And I don’t see the problem in Businesses giving money to the PAC’s of their choice. This is just nonsense manufactured by the radical left and neo-cons like Erickson. I am comforted that Georgia Primary voters know Ox more than most of the other candidates because of his selfless public service since 1994. It’s not them I’m worried about. It’s the non-primary voters who can quickly be influenced by Lefties and Neo-Cons that they don’t see what an honorable politician he is. Hopefully, primary voters will be smart enough to see the BS the progressives are manufacturing and vote Oxendine. The best thing that could happen to the Georgia GOP is to see Oxendine’s election to the Governorship.

SE on RedState……and false Conservatives….

From SE…………

Many Republicans are outraged following the discussion ban of the eligibility question imposed yesterday by the Editor-in-Chief of Redstate.com, a leading Republican News Blog published from Washington, D.C.

Eric Erickson justified his action in a post entitled, “Vigilance: I’m Banning Birfers, Truthers, and Groups Affiliated Therewith” for the following reasons:

We must be vigilant. We must be willing to draw a line in the sand and stand against fatuous nonsense that opens up the right to attacks by a left-leaning media intent on embarrassing the good people who have developed through the tea party movement a renewed sense of civic involvement.

Birfers and Truthers have no place among us. And they are most decidedly not welcome at RedState.

Erickson is evidently that kind of Republican who believes politics needs a sort of Inquisition-like approach, ever- vigilant for political “heretics,” and sees his duty as requiring him to ban them from exercising their free speech on constitutional issues.

While I’m not a Truther or even a Birther by any stretch of the imagination, I think this shit is outrageous because this is a blatant violation of free speech rights. They can disagree with them, but banning them for what they think is pretty much no different than the old German Regime. Alas, knowing RedState, they’re going to start banning Libertarians, Oxendine supporters, etc because they disagree with them. I heard one person say that she tried to post her opinion on RedState, but it was removed because Erick disagreed with it. WTF!!!??? I think the false Conservatives totalitarian bigots at Redstate need to be starved of attention. Of course, in doing this, these false Conservatives, along with the Liberals, are sinking their own ship in the process, and if it brings about civil debate and real Conservative values to the table, I’m happy.

GOP Litmus test?……What Litmus Test?

From PolticalWire…….

Republicans Dismiss “Purity Resolution”

“The RNC avoided a potentially embarrassing resolution that would have given the party an ability to impose sanctions on candidates who do not follow key elements of the GOP platform, a move that would have shone a spotlight on some of the party’s best recruits,” according to The Hotline.

“GOPers meeting in Honolulu this week unanimously said the party is in good shape to make big electoral gains this year, but many worried that the proposed resolution could highlight differences between conservatives and several more moderate contenders.”

Despite Governorship wins…the GOP has to still define what it stands for….

The Grand Old Party has the same problems the Democrats do…How do you deal with the left and the right …and how do they get them to row together on their boat?

Solving that issue will be the key for both parties ability to get votes from the independents that are critical factor in winning elections…….

If the GOP turns to a right leaning party only in general elections (all republican go to the right in primaries, that’s given) they run the risk of duplicating the NY-23 outcome where voters track to the moderate inspire of the party registration numbers……right now cooler heads are going to have to look forward within that party…and local races are still more influenced by local issues more than national issues…

The truth is…we are still dealing with the after effects of President Obama’s ground breaking election……

In both parties….…

Democrats thought Obama voters would still rally to their side….they didn’t…

Republican’s are still dealing with the shock of their lackluster presidential campaign, and George Bush’s policy’s……

And both aprties are dealing with the drumbeat of the economy and unemployment, eventhough the econmy may be starting to turn around (people don’t feel that turn)…..

It is a brave new world out there……how does the GOP deal with it?
