Obama pleads for patience from Stewart on ‘Daily Show’…..

Kinda late isn’t he?

“When we promised during campaign ‘change you can believe in,’ it wasn’t change you can believe in in 18 months,” Obama said.

During the taping of the show, which was scheduled to air later Wednesday night, Obama defended his record and took issue with host Stewart’s accusation that the healthcare legislation was “timid.”

“”John, I love your show, but this is something where I have a profound disagreement with you,” Obama said. “This notion that health care was timid.”

Obama defended his landmark domestic agenda accomplishment, laying out the ways it has expanded coverage.

“”This is what most people would say is as significant a piece of legislation as we have seen in this country’s history,” Obama said. “What happens is it gets discounted because [the] assumption is we didn’t get 100 percent of what we wanted, we only get 90 percent of what we wanted — so let’s focus on the 10 percent we didn’t get.”

Jon Stewart curse's out FOX…….

Sometimes the guy just loses it…….

Perhaps what frustrated him the most last night was that, as displayed in the beginning of the segment, Stewart actually agreed with Fox’s pundits, who noted the dangers of generalizing groups of people based on the actions of a few (specifically the more extreme members of the Tea Party). Totally legit argument. But of course, this was followed by a compilation of examples in which Fox News pundits and personalities blatantly DID THE EXACT SAME THING.

(The “go f–k yourselves” segment of the clip below begins at 5:10, following a very funny Wyatt Cenac bit.)

'The Big Short'……Michael Lewis on the Jon Stewart show……about the people that made money on the financial crisis

Michael Lewis

Michael Lewis came on “The Daily Show” last night to talk about his new book, “The Big Short,” about the few investors who bet against subprime loans in 2005, predicting the financial meltdown, and were able to make money off of it. The book highlights one of these investors, a man named Mike Burry, who has a glass eye and Asperger’s syndrome but was still smarter than the rest of Wall Street.

These bets against the market, Lewis said, are important because they are “the only incentive in the system to bring bad news into the system” — most Wall Street investors had “forgotten” that they’d rigged the market, and couldn’t let themselves believe that something catastrophic was going to happen.

Jon Stewart on Everything that is wrong with America…in under four minutes……

Yesterday, the new Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure act went into effect—but not without controversy. And tonight on The Daily ShowJon Stewart brilliantly laid out both what’s wrong with American consumers and with credit card companies.

With his hilarious—and eerily accurate—rant, Stewart managed to do what many others have failed at: explaining how the country’s credit problem is exacerbated by the actions of those on both sides of the spectrum.

Stewart first explained that the problem with American consumers is that they not only desire a Champagne lifestyle on a Busch Light budget, but will take any opportunity to act on that appetite—even when painfully aware of the consequences of doing so. If you let them, they will spend, whether they have the money or not.

After his evisceration (sorry, had to) of consumers, Stewart took aim at the banks, hilariously describing the tricks they’ve used to historically bilk their customers out of as much extra money as possible, before even more hilariously highlighting some new tactics that were born from a theoretical leash imposed by the government with the newly-enforceable regulations on their business practices.

I’d say more, but the screen on my laptop is fading and I need to make sure I’m the first one to arrive at the Apple Store tomorrow to purchase a new one—just as long as my rate limit gets approved. Fingers crossed!

Jon Stewart on the Healthcare Summit and maybe progress?

Stewart Health Care

Expecting the health care summit to be a spectacle and political theater, Jon Stewart (who described himself as “bipartisan-curious’) was surprised last night to find that the discussion more closely resembled “the most boring seder [he’s] ever seen.” But that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

After mocking Republicans for showing up for a discussion yet clamoring for scrapping the bill, Stewart began to change his tune when noticing signs of progress. Sending him into a giddy celebration: an agreement between Tom “killing abortion doctors might not be such a terrible idea” Coburn and Charles “If I was any more liberal and Jewish I’d have tits and be Barbara Streisand” Schumer.

Stewart’s excitement couldn’t even be subdued by minority whip Eric Cantor, who still seemed intent on killing the bill and limiting government. Why? Because Obama stepped it up and put him in his place. Said Stewart: “You see how fast Obama took him down? That sh-t was Jedi!”

In the end, Stewart was encouraged by the progress and not even the skepticism from other media outlets (who “suck”) could bring him down.

Politicians don’t do the Colbert Show…..But Obama would do the Jon Stewart Show……

Obama Fine to Face Jon Stewart, Will Avoid Stephen Colbert

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs–who recently joined Twitter–told Time‘s Swampland blog that putting President Obama on Letterman and Leno last year were “two of the easiest decisions” he and David Axelrod ever had to make.

So what about “The Daily Show”?

“I think the President would love to, just maybe not Colbert.” He went on to explain:”I have yet to see a politician best Stephen Colbert in an interview on his show,” Gibbs said, laughing. “I mean, he’s really, really good.”

Perhaps someone should have told Harold Ford Jr. that.

Yep…..
