Pundits: If GOP destroys America, it’ll be because Obama was a dick

By Jed Lewison @Daily Kos….

Mr. Obama did not lay down a “red line” beyond which he would refuse to negotiate. But he repeatedly dared Congressional Republicans to side with oil companies, hedge fund managers and corporate jet owners against the interests of the elderly, schoolchildren and the middle class. His tone throughout was defiant. The question is whether Mr. Obama’s pointed remarks about his Congressional adversaries will help jump-start the stalled debt negotiations, or will have the effect of backing each side further into a corner even as the Aug. 2 deadline for raising the nation’s borrowing capacity nears.

So apparently the only thing standing in the way of getting a deal done is whether or not Republicans have their feelings hurt by what President Obama said in a press conference? Sorry, but if Republicans are really that sensitive, then their problems are far, far bigger than anything President Obama may or may not say.

Meanwhile, Mark Halperin says Obama was a “dick” yesterday. Yes, that’s a direct quote from the “civil” MSNBC show, Morning Joe. (Morning Joe blamed it on a producer forgetting to bleep out Halperin.)

But whatever the New York Times or Mark Halperin might say, the reality is that Republicans need to take responsibility for their own actions. They may not like it when President Obama tells them the truth. And pundits like Mark Halperin might think it makes him an asshole, or even a dick. But they can all go fuck themselves if they think that’s a legitimate excuse for Republicans to not do their jobs.

Time to grow up, children.

Join the discussion in LaurenMonica’s diary, Mark Halperin just called Obama “a dick” on Morning Joe.

Update….Halperin has been suspended indefinitely by MSNBC for his name calling….

*It seems that I HAVE spelled Mark Halperin’s name wrong …..It has been corrected….I apoligize for the spelling mistake….

Elliot Spitzer Hosting on MSNBC…….

Eliott Spitzer is on his way back into New Yorker’s hearts…….

He filled in today on MSNBC………

Video frame grab of former NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer on MSNBC.

TVNewser has learned that former New York governor Eliot Spitzer will be substitute hosting for Dylan Ratigantoday on MSNBC at 4pmET.

Spitzer, who resigned from office amid a prostitution scandal, has increased his TV news appearances as he considers — or at least does not rule out — a return to politics telling Fortune magazine, “Right now, I can tell you I have a family that is in one piece… That’s a measure of success after what we went through.”

MSNBC’s Monica Novotny will be the news anchor on set during today’s show.

Maybe he’ll run for Controller of New York State? (2014)…….Going for Gillibrand’s Senate job might piss too many people off…….

Lights, camera … Spitzer?

After years of being interviewed about his political successes – and glaring failures – Eliot Spitzer was on the other side of the microphone on Thursday.

Spitzer surprised regular MSNBC viewers who tuned into “The Dylan Ratigan Show” – and instead saw the former governor filling in as the guest host.

“Eliot has been a frequent guest on Dylan’s show and has provided our viewers with terrific insight into the financial crisis. With Dylan off today, it was the perfect opportunity to have him co-host the hour,” said MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines.

Spitzer was forced out of office by a prostitution scandal less than two years after taking office.

The Democrat who won the 2006 governor’s race in a landslide said in a recent interview he feels “unceasing agony” about not being “where \[he\] would like to be” – that being finishing up his first term as governor.

Spitzer quizzed his guests on everything from the Wall Street bailouts to the future of the Republican party.

Some addressed Spitzer, who wore a pinstriped suit and blue tie, as “Eliot,” while others stuck with “Governor.”

Why would you be surprised about him grilling people?…..He WAS New York States AG and Governor…he might have been careless with his ‘Johnson’…but he isn’t a dumb man …..by a long shot………

MSNBC decides to hold Obama to his healhcare campaign promises…and get some ratings in the process…..

MSNBC…the channel that unabashedly favored Obama for president for the last year and a half…. has decided to unleash one of its anchors, Rachel Maddow, on the president’s campaign promises on healthcare, and against the pro-life Stupak amendment that the House voted to keep, to appease the pro-life DEMOCRATS……

Now let me repeat something I found last week…..only 13% of people out there use their health insurance to pay for terminating a pregrancy….13%!

That means top me that 87% use their own money to pay for the procedure…because of various reasons, the best one I would think would be, that they don’t want anyone to know they had one done….

That brings me to a question I would ask Maddow…why can’t you figure out what the democratic party has?…the Stupak amendment really isn’t that important…..the amment only addresses 13% of people out there…why not let the other 87% keep paying out of their pockets?…since even if you defeat the pro-life ammendment…most poeple aren’t gonna ask their insurance company to pay anyways?

Of course, this being the media we’re talking about one would not be far off to look for the money angle……

And here it is…..last year MSNBC took in $270 million in revenue last year…this year it looks like they are on the way to take in $365 million….. and then there is this….”Gary Carr, the executive director of national broadcast for the media buying agency TargetCast, said the opinions matter less than the ratings they earn. With cable’s prime-time opinion shows, “you’re reaching a lot of people,” he said.

Yep…and $100 million is still a lot of money where I come from……..so MSNBC seeing the Fox News channel march to the head of line by going to the right…is going to the left…and seems like the viewership…and ad money is following….sorry Mr. President but we’re gonna throw a few at ya…its not personal…it’s business…..

FOX and MSNBC take their hits…and add viewers and ad revenue……

Like it or not Americans like their news slanted towards their views.….While the impartial media outlets go on…the partisan ones increase their viewership at the others expense…hype and rhetoric rule the day, in the end, eh?
