Joe Sestak……A little info……

Here’s some information on the man who beat Ole’ Arlen in Pennsylvania……..

Joseph A. “Joe” Sestak, Jr……

When Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.), the Navy admiral-turned-congressman, defeated 30-year incumbent Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania’s Democratic Senate primary Tuesday night, it was the second time in his short political career that he had knocked out a better-known incumbent. Four years earlier, Sestak bested Rep. Curt Weldon, beating the Republican incumbent by nearly 13 points to take the seat representing Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional district in Congress.

In his three years on Capitol Hill, Sestak has offset his 31-year military career with an aggressively liberal voting record, supporting the Democratic House leadership on most votes and endorsing nearly all of the White House’s top priorities. Sestak voted for President Obama’s health care bill, the Troubled Asset Relief Program, and the energy bill that included a cap-and-trade mechanism to reduce carbon emissions. He also established himself as pro-choice, with a 100 percent rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America, pro-gun control, and pro-labor, sponsoring the Employee Free Choice Act.

One of eight children of a Navy captain in Pennsylvania, Sestak finished second in his class at the U.S. Naval Academy. He also earned a Ph.D in political economy from Harvard and capped his Naval career with a second star and the command of an aircraft carrier battle group in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sestak also served in the Clinton White House as the Director for Defense Policy on the National Security Council…….

Daniel…..Pennsylvania Senate: Democratic Senate Primary now a DEAD HEAT; Toomey leads General Election Head-to-Heads by 10 and 11 Points……..

Hello Dog!

I promised our Readers to have a more in depth look at the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary Survey from Rasmussen Reports who came out yesterday showing the Primary between Specter and Sestak now a DEAD HEAT.

We’re now officially under 5 weeks away from that “Super Primary Tuesday” on May 22nd where 4 States (Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Arkansas and Oregon) are holding Primaries.

The Poll Results could be attributed that Voters are USUALLY paying more Attention to Races like this when Election Day draws nearer. After all the good Polling Specter probably thought he would win this Primary in a walk – HE WON’T. Honestly it was a big surprise seeing Specter jumping out to this big lead after all his “Party Swiching” and “Flip-Flopping”.

Currently may still be the Favourite to be the Democratic Nominee in November BUT I’ll watch this Race closely. If the Average narrowes further during the last weeks of April we could have a REAL RACE on our hands come May.

Remember: Just this week SUSA putting out a Survey showing Conway erasing Mongiardo’s lead in Kentucky from 18 Points to 3 in just 4 weeks. The same could happen here.

From Daniel G…..Pennsylvania Senate: Specter leads Sestak by 24 Points in Democratic Primary; Regains lead over Toomey in the General new Q-Pac Survey shows …..

Morning Dog!

Some good News for your Party this morning. According to a new Quinnipiac University Survey in the Keystone State Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA) has widened his lead over Primary Rival Joseph A. Sestak (D-PA) to 24 Points. More importantly: He now leads his Republican General Election Rival, former U. S. Rep. Patrick J. “Pat” Toomey (R-PA) by 7 Points.

Folks, something is VERY FISHY here. Clearly Q-Pac does seem to see a completely different Electorate in this Race. To put this in perspective: A Franklin & Marshall Survey just released last week showed Toomey ahead of Specter (44-34) and a Rasmussen Survey done February 8th showed Toomey ahead (47-38). Something has to be wrong here. There can’t be an 11-Point Swing in just one week friends. Quinnipiac is usually a good Pollster so I don’t know why they see it so differently.

Daniel G.

The Dog will only say that he has cautioned everyone that sooner or later the ‘Scoot Brown’ effect would wear off….and that Republican’s were expecting much too much for November ( like the democrats after Obama’s win )…it’s early but let’s see……ole’ Arlen still has a lot of fans out there…..

Merlin on the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Senate race…..

Hi Dog!

The gap in the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Primary has somewhat closed according to a new Statewide Survey of 425 Likely Primary Votes. Incumbent Senator Arlen Specter is barely over 50 % but leads his Main Rival U. S. Rep. Joseph A. Sestak by 15 Points. Last month Specter led Sestak by 22 Points.

Rasmussen Survey

Pennsylvania Senate 2010

Democratic Primary

Incumbent Senator Arlen Specter  51 %
U. S. Rep. Joseph A. Sestak  36 %
Others  4 %
Undecided  9 %

Merlin’s Observation:

I don’t think Specter will just walk away with this. This thing will get tighter as Primary Election Day approaches. The Primary is May 18th.

Merlin

From the Dog……Ole’ Arlen Spector will be the Democratic nominee…The question will be the numbers (expected shortly) on Spector vs Toomey, who led both Democrats last month…..Spector now has the parties endorsement…..it’s nine months from election day…….

Ole’ Arlen Spector is ahead of Joe Sestak right now by more than 10%……

If the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate seat was held today…Ole’ Arlen would walk away with it…..He leads in a recent Rasmussen Poll by 48% to 35%…..

Sestak’s numbers have actually dropped from their high of 42% in October…..switching parties so far is okay for the long time Republican……
