Progressives going after GOPer’s who vote against Healthcare….

Progressives Target Republicans Over Health Care Vote

Paul Ryan

Progressive groups are again targeting Republicans in competitive districts for voting to repeal health care reform while accepting federally financed insurance.

Americans United for Change, Daily Kos, and Blue America have aligned to run radio ads in the districts of Reps. Charlie Bass (R-NH), Paul Ryan (R-WI), Sandy Adams (R-FL), and Leonard Lance (R-NJ).

Reflection on Liberals and Progressives in the Democratic Party….

This from me on Harold Ford and Kirsten Gillibrand….

I hope he runs and takes every damn vote in the Five boro’s and wipes her butt…then all the liberal and progressives can eat it…just like they did from Obama in Iowa…….

http://politicaldog101.com/2010/…senate-version/

these same people against ford would rather embrace her ……

look at her poll numbers….they are for her…and she’ll take a hit from any Republican…even the mid night cleaner…..

really the left of the democratic party has to wake up…..minorities got there’s..the presidency….what has the left ever got?

live your political life in moderation….it’s easlier to get thru things that way…….

finally this…..

I’ve been listening to the lefty since the election…they got conned like everyone else…..

at least I know what the president is…and I can live with that and generally support him….

Progressive and Liberal Democrats are getting mad at their President…..

This from Jerome Armstrong over at mydd.com…..

In my view, the last two weeks, the swing of Markos/DKos, Howard Dean, MoveOn.org, DFA/PCCC into a more antagonistic activist-based approach has been long overdue. FDL, Glenn Greenwald, David Sirota and others, have been there waiting too; understanding that the politics of the Lieberman/Nelson/Lincoln approach demand that progressives be willing to lose a battle in order to win concessions. RJ Eskew is right: “In a very practical sense the Deans, Hamshers, and Taibbis are accomplishing more than any other progressives to get a better bill.”

This from Huffington …….

The Senate Health Care Bill– Leave No Special Interest Behind:

As we approach the end of Obama’s first year in office, this public subsidizing of private profit is becoming something of a habit. It is, after all, exactly what the White House did with the banks. Just as he did with insurance companies, Obama talked tough to the bankers in public but, when push came to shove, he ended up shoving public money onto their privately-held balance sheets.

This is not just bad policy, it’s bad politics. …There are many reasons for hoping the current Senate bill doesn’t become law. But the biggest reason of all is the desperate need for a DC pattern interrupt. The desperate need to draw a line in the sand against the continued domination of our democracy — and the continued undermining of the public interest — by special interests.

They are not happy at themselves for trusting Obama and sitting bcak….heck they could have read the Dog…I mentioned several times that in the end Barack H. Obama is a Politician..no more…no less…and tht he wanted a bill…that’s all….I put out there he would NOT fight for the ‘Public Option’ anymore than he would fight for anything else….indeed…the guy was out of the country during every key time Reid had a problem in his chamber and Pelosi had a problem in hers……

and the Republicans where dead after Obama’s instaliation as presdient with both house’s in democrat hands????

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

…..more from Armstrong……

Absent bipartisanship, Did Republicans Blunder on HCR? Heck no, they played it to a tee:

… if Republicans had played ball, they would have been in a position to eliminate the public option, demand deficit neutrality, and so forth … but they had Democratic centrists to do that work for them, and they won all those battles, to some extent at least, without having to vote for the final bill. Whereas winning the larger war, over the design of the legislation, was probably beyond their capabilities whatever negotiating strategy they took.

…judged purely as a short-term political strategy designed to derail the legislation, it’s hard to argue with the results. Public opinion has turned dramatically against the bill, and every swing-state Democrat who votes for it is courting political suicide. If you’re an opposition party trying stop a legislative juggernaut, that’s exactly the kind of landscape you want to create: One where your opponents know, as they ponder how to vote, that they might well be choosing between the bill they want to pass and the majority they want to keep.

the last ditch effort  …….

Markos (Daily Kos)

…improve the bill. We’re not done fighting.I have to say there is a fairly big split in the progressive, online community, between those who just want to take a deal, anything, and move on to the next big issue, and those of us who haven’t quit fighting. I have to say, the reason Obama that is now talking about drug re- importation, cheaper drugs from overseas, is because we are continuing to fight.

If you laid down arms, you know what? The Ben Nelsons and Joe Liebermans, they keep extracting concessions. We cannot, at any point, lay down our guns and stop fighting.

Once we have a final bill, and things are set in stone, then we can re-examine that bill. But right now, things can still change. To stop fighting for that change, to me, is patently ridiculous.

Any positive change from here on out is going to be because we keep pushing from the left not because we say, “Good enough. Let’s pass it.”

ah, Good luck fella’s ……..

But you were warned here at the little ole’ Dog……

It was your own fault for believing in the impossible…..Politicans are Politicans…we love some ..hate others…but deep down they are all dog robber’s…..all of them

Obama and Healthcare promises………

Jerome Armstrong over at mydd.com posts a list of promises that President Obama made out on the campaign trail and has not apparently kept…..and I’m not really surprised….at the end of August of this year I did a post in which I pointed out that Obama really wanted a Healthcare Bill period……Obama has had experience as an Illinois legislator and a US Senator…..he knows the game….there was no way in hell that he would stake his bill on concrete promises he made during the campaign….he knew when he made those statements that he would not have too much control on what would come from the congress as a bill for him sign………

So…..I really don’t see what the crying is about from p[progressives and the left of the democratic party…..Barack Obama is the president…presidents are politicians…and politicians practice politics which is the art of compromise…..And the final bill will be a compromise between literally thousands of people and political, business and people interests…..

As much as I wanted a bill to make sure that every person in America can get quality healthcare, I am a realist…it is just not gonna happen that way…..

This is the American way…..and this what we have to work with……

A little bit on Obama’s drop in the polls and his usage of his popularity to effect change…….

We all know that Healthcare is driving the President’s poll numbers down ( he’s doing all right with the economy, but no one’s looking right now ) …… but I for one, believe that people still believe in Obama personally. Tom Schaller, asks in FiveThirtyEight , how has Obama used his political capital ( or popularity)?…..

Schaller gives four ways that Obama has worked it……..1) Obama has spend his political capital freely…not holding back…..2) Obama has worked it, thinking of the future…..3) Did Obama misjudge the push back on healthcare….thinking it ( the capital/popularity) would negate the opposition…… 4)In spite of  it,  he got mugged……Schaller’s piece is good… and he provides a graphic up front in the piece also……

As for me……For the past nine months I  believe that Obama has been true to his campaign speeches for the Presidency…. Using his capital and popularity to effect change in the basic  sense……he has challenged the status quo in that the congress, political parties and executive branches don’t want to deal with this HUGE issue…

This is what he promised  America to get elected…..and he is in it for the ‘Longhaul’,  and as I posted on August 16th……..also….as I posted on August 13…… this is Politics…and it will be up to Obama to ‘ decide if he goes for the jugular, with the Bluedogs, and Republicans, or dances around the ‘Public Option’  (which Liberals, and Progressives have made a beachhead ) issue’….

Update: A look back at August shows that things wasn’t so bad for Obama, who has swung back up in the polls…………

The fight over the public option is on!

Today the push back from within the democratic party materialized on dropping the public option in the healthcare bill, and the White House is a little wobbly ( they just threw Sebelius under the bus ) ……..Several Senate and House members have gone on the record against the trial balloons offered by the administration…for Obama, this could be the hardest thing he has tackled so far…I think it could surpass the election……

He knows he can get a bill probably with out the public option …heck, the Republicans would probably give him it smiling…but now he’s got the problem of the progressives in the House and Senate mad at him ( and Grassley back in the fold with the Republicans), and a bill without the option will cost him a good bit of his base…….

I posted a strategy piece from the Washington Post a few days ago….that piece suggested that the President would wait till September to show his cards….that may not work if the progressives get too restive…….
