Since this is the Dogs state he gets to do the comments……

From the top…..Current Governor David Paterson is just delaying the inevitable….He  was appointed and he will leave that office never being elected to it…..

Andrew Cuomo will be the next Governor of New York….while he’s 27 points ahead Lazio now those numbers will come down…..but the spot is his come next January…..

The story here is the Junior senator from New York Kirsten Gillibrand……Both Ford and Gillibrand beat Blakeman…..so we’re not gonna even consider that this seat is going to the GOP……

Gillibrand is consistently running about 17 to 18 points ahead of Ford in all the current polling……But there are several things that should be worrying the junior senator from New York State…..

First of all…..Harold Ford, jr. hasn’t declared yet…..he hasn’t rolled out his campaign with a lot of publicity and hoopla……Second….look at the undecided numbers…..Woa!….a whopping 40%!!!…..if Ford got most of those sitting on the fence (entirely possible if he took the minority vote from NY City ) he’s ahead in the state…..Third…whether he likes it or not Chuck Schumer is going to have Gillibrand stand more on her own two feet…the beginning of this race is actually hurting Schumer whose numbers are beginning to fall (he owns his spot )……

The race in New York State is going to be the Democratic Senate primary if Ford runs…….

Merlin on the Q Poll for Connecticut’s Governor’s race…..

Hi Dog!

Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz’s Departure from the Connecticut Governor Race has hurt Democratic Chances to retake the CT Governorship since 1986. Bysiewicz would have been the Frontrunner for Democratic Primary as well as the General Election.

With her Departure, the Race is wide open, which helps Republicans, and gives at least fmr. Ambassador to Ireland, Tom Foley (R) a fighting Chance to hold the Seat, a newly released Quinnipiac University Poll finds.

Quinnipiac University Poll

Connecticut Governor 2010

Democratic Primary

Ned Lamont  27 %
Dan Malloy  11 %
Jim Amann 5 %
Mary Glassman  4 %
Gary LeBeau  2 %
Rudy Marconi  1 %
Juan Figueroa  1 %
Others  4 %
Undecided  44 %

Republican Primary

Tom Foley  17 %
Michael Fedele  8 %
Mark Broughton  6 %
Larry DeNardis  4 %
Oz Griebel  2 %
Others  2 %
Undecided  59 %

General Election

Ned Lamont (D)  38 %
Tom Foley (R)  36 %
Others  2 %
Undecided 21 %

Dan Malloy (D)  37 %
Tom Foley (R)  33 %
Others 2 %
Undecided  24 %

Ned Lamont (D)  41 %
Michael Fedele (R)  32 %
Others  2 %
Undecided  23 %

Dan Malloy (D)  37 %
Tom Foley (R)  31 %
Others  2 %
Undecided  27 %

Merlin’s Note:

The Bysiewicz Departure has really thrown this Race wide Open. Despite  lower Name Recognition,  Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy runs stronger in the General Election. Lamont, in my view, is a Candidate who could blow Democratic Chances of capturing the CT Governorship.

Merlin on the Connecticut senate race…and few other Q Poll confirmations…….

Hello again Dog!

Morning.

A new Quinnipiac Connecticut Senate Poll confirms what we have known since last week. Conneicut Attorney General Richard  Blumenthal has a monstrous lead, and has transformed this Race overnight. Merlin will change the Race Rating.

Quinnipiac University Poll

Connecticut Senate 2010

Democratic Primary

Richard Blumenthal  82 %
Merrick Alpert  4 %
Others  1 %
Undecided  12 %

Republican Primary

fmr. Rep. Robert “Rob” Simmons  37 %
Linda McMahon  27 %
Peter Schiff  4 %
Others  2 %
Undecided  28 %

General Election 2010

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D)  62 %
fmr. Rep. Robert “Rob” Simmons (R)  27 %

Linda McMahon (R)  23 %
Others  1 %
Undecided  11 %

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D)  66 %
Peter Schiff (R)  19 %
Others  1 %
Undecided  14 %

Job Approval

Governor M. Jodi Rell (R)

Approve  64 %
Disapprove  28 %

Despite  announcing her Retirement, that’s pretty high poll numbers….. indeed.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D)

Approve  84 %
Disapprove  11 %

Note from Q-Pac Pollster Douglas Schwartz

“Blumenthal’s Job Approval is unbelievable high, higher than any other politician we’ve ever measured, other than former President George W. Bush after 9/11.”

84 % is indeed strikingly high and comes close to that from North Dakota Governor John Hoeven (R) who entered the Senate Race this week.

Senator Christopher J. Dodd (D)

Approve  36 %
Disapprove  58 %

Senator Joseph “Joe” I. Lieberman (I)

Approve  39 %
Disapprove  54 %

Full Results at Quinnipiac University Polling Research Institute.

It will take a MAJOR Collapse for Blumenthal not to win this Race and hold the Seat for the Democrats. Therefore Merlin changes the Connecticut Senate Race from “Toss-Up” to “Likely Democrat”

Other Pundit Ratings

Election Projection has it as “Mod DEM Hold”
Stuart Rothenberg has it as “Clear Advantage Incumbent Party”
Charlie Cook has it as “Toss-Up” BUT with this Poll it’ll probably change today to at least “Leans Democrat” and maybe even further.

Merlin

Note:…….Check those numbers out and file them…..they have nowhere to go…. but down…..he’s a lock, but the finish line can’t have numbers this high…..actually the same appies to another state Attorney General ….New York’s Andrew Cuomo who is doing the exact same thing in New York and will run for Governor of the state….he’ll likewise make it…but both will have their number settle down by election day….
