The Democratic National Committee will help out House/Senate and Governors with $50 Milllon…..

President Obama and others are helping the DNC raise a lot of money…..

They are going to need to keep it up…..

The Democrats could lose a lot of seats…..

The Republicans are in trouble….several donors have indicated that they will not give to the Republican National Committee because of concerns with its head…..Michael Steele…..

The Democratic National Committee will contribute more than $50 million in cash and services for November’s midterm elections, a top Democratic official tells POLITICO.

The payments — for House, Senate and governor’s races — will start in June. Aides are negotiating the split between cash and services.

The DNC wasn’t a big player in 2006, sparking a spat between White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, then chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and party chair Howard Dean.

This year, the DNC will provide “an unprecedented amount of cash and field, with a special emphasis on base turnout — youth, African-Americans, Latinos and first-time voters,” the top official said.

President Barack Obama has a special relationship with first-time voters who turned out for him in 2008, and he’ll work to get them out again, the official said.

44% of the nations legislators are millionaire’s….

That’s right……the Center for Responsive Politics has a report out that claims that 237 members are worth more than $1,000,000……the top congressman is worth about $251 million……and there are at least 7 law makers worth over $100 million……The top of the list is dominated by US Senators, who collectively average  more then $1.5 million……

Members of the House are not so rich, with an average of $622,254…Which has gone down since 2007 by almost $100,000….

President Obama is at $4 million and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is at $21 million….

And dig this…some lawmakers have done well with federal bailout companies……While others are not so lucky….In fact, several have lost huge amounts of money due the drop in stocks and other securities……

President Obama is at $4 million, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is at $21 million….

The fight over the public option is on!

Today the push back from within the democratic party materialized on dropping the public option in the healthcare bill, and the White House is a little wobbly ( they just threw Sebelius under the bus ) ……..Several Senate and House members have gone on the record against the trial balloons offered by the administration…for Obama, this could be the hardest thing he has tackled so far…I think it could surpass the election……

He knows he can get a bill probably with out the public option …heck, the Republicans would probably give him it smiling…but now he’s got the problem of the progressives in the House and Senate mad at him ( and Grassley back in the fold with the Republicans), and a bill without the option will cost him a good bit of his base…….

I posted a strategy piece from the Washington Post a few days ago….that piece suggested that the President would wait till September to show his cards….that may not work if the progressives get too restive…….
