Living on Food Stamps…….Socialism is bad?

For those people who are afraid of the socialism in the upcoming Healthcare Bill…check this out

….American, one the wealthiest countries in the year 2010 AD…..has a lot of people surviving by getting food stamps from government….this the second post I have done about people being hungry…..the social net for an increasing amount of Americans includes government assistance,  to live thru unemployment insurance and food stamps…in a lot of places it is governmenet assistance in finding a place with a roof over your head with the Section 8 Rent assistance Program….

Stop bitching about Socialism in Healthcare people….Socialism is supporting an increasing number of Americans everyday…..and it’s cold out there tonight…….

Here’s the numbers and facts……

The New York Times said the data from those states, which account for about 60 percent of the national caseload, suggests there are six million people in households with no income, including 1.2 million children.

“The numbers have nearly tripled in Nevada over the past two years, doubled in Florida and New York, and grown nearly 90 percent in Minnesota and Utah. In Wayne County, Mich., which includes Detroit, one of every 25 residents reports an income of only food stamps,” according to the report.

Some point to these findings as evidence that the safety net is torn because of the lack of cash support. James Weill, president of the Food Research and Action Center, a Washington advocacy group, told the Times, “The food-stamp program is being asked to do too much…People need income support.”

USDA report cliams that up to 50 Million Americans had trouble feeding themselves last year…….

One of the by products of the nations economic downturn has been people\’s ability to feed themselves…flying below the radar is the fact that a lot of Americans go to sleep every night hungry…My wife went out one Sunday, last month, to help feed the hungry in New York City…When she got home she was upset and surprised….During her time at the church in downtown Manhattan …she saw people who looked like they where having problems, with ragged clothes and in unkempt physical condition..but my wife also noticed people who were not in that condtion…she noticed people who seemed to once have been middle class, or working class, neat but hungry…..she wondered was these people having trouble feeding themselves after losing their jobs and falling behind in their lives? ( the report identifies a 90,000 increase in attendance at soup kitchens)..or, was the answer that in certain cases people are working, but simply don’t have enough money left over after paying bills, and eat everyday (neat, but hungrey)…..
