Major Health Care Reforms Take Effect January 1

Starting Saturday, two of the new health care law’s most significant reforms take effect — or at least begin to take effect.

The first will dramatically clamp down on insurance industry waste, abuse, and excesses. Starting on New Year’s Day, insurance companies will have to spend at least 80 percent of the revenues they receive from premiums on actual health care. Not on salaries or overhead.

Rumors flying high that Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI 1) has reached a Deal (not with Pelosi but with the President). To satisfy Stupak President Obama apparently will issue an Abortion Executive Order at 12.30pm ET.

Stupak also says he’ll have 8 Votes to support the Deal literally putting the Democrats over the top to pass this CRAPPY thing in convincing Fashion.

It looks surely like GAME OVER for us. Damnit.

Public Still Doesn’t Understand the Health Care Bill

Despite more than a year of public debate, town hall meetings, speeches and advertisements, the public still “does not understand some important elements of the reform legislation” that is set to come to a final vote today in the House of Representatives, according to a new Kaiser Health Tracking Poll.

“Only 15% of Americans, for instance, know that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has said the legislation will decrease the federal budget deficit over the next 10 years. And 55% believe the CBO has said the legislation will increase the deficit over that period.”
