The Democrat running against Senator Jim DeMint in SC is a black, unemployed veteran….Updated…….

[ Greene and DeMint ]

Yea you read that right……..

Everyone is scratching their heads……

64 year old Vic Rawl,  A  former SC legislator,  lost to one Alvin Greene….

A guy with no job, and no money….

Rawl has no friends…….

DeMint’s  a GOP maverick, who has a job, and more than $3.5 million in the bank….

This one’s gonna have media all over it…Especially, since Haley is now looking like a winner….

What do you think?

A self-proclaimed jobless military veteran won South Carolina’s Democratic Senate primary and the right to challenge the incumbent, conservative Tea Party Activist Jim DeMint, in this fall’s election.

Alvin M. Greene, 32, took 59 percent of the vote, stunning his primary opponent, Vic Rawls, 64, a former judge and four-term state legislator.

“I wasn’t surprised. . . . I mean, just a little, but not much,” Greenetold Mother Jones magazine, in one of his few post-election interviews.
Greene said he scraped together the $10,400 filing fee and funds for his campaign from money he had saved while serving in the Army in South Korea. Greene said he completed his military service, a total of 13 years in the Air Force and Army, last August. He has been unemployed since.

He declined to explain why he has neglected to speak with any Democratic Party officials or to register and file reports with state and federal election officials.
“I’m not concentrating on how I was elected — it’s history,” he said.
Army officials said Wednesday morning they were checking to verify Greene’s military status.
Greene appeared to have run his campaign largely in the dark. He put out no campaign posters, ran no ads, and although he said he had campaigned across the state, was vague on the precisely where he had appeared.
“As far as I know, he never showed up at anything,” state Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler told reporters. She speculated that voters picked Greene over Rawl because his name came first on the alphabetical list of candidates.
Rawl himself expressed shock and disappointment at the election results. “I never saw him,” he said of his opponent. “I’ve still never met him.”

Note……Grenee has got Mt. Everest to climb…But stranger things have happened….

Court records show that Greene was arrested in November after allegedly showing the photos to a woman and talking about going to her room at a university dorm. He posted bond after his arrest and has yet to enter a plea or be indicted, the AP reported. The charge carries a maximum five-year prison sentence.

The Army said Wednesday that Greene, from Manning, S.C., was discharged in August 2009 after being promoted to specialist. He served three years as a supply technician, including a tour in South Korea from June 2007 to July 2008. He last served with the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kan.

As stunned party officials in South Carolina and Washington scrambled to absorb the implications of Greene’s unusual victory, his election prospects seemed unclear — although he is certain now to attract the first serious media and political attention of his campaign.

Greene remains undaunted. He said he is excited about the campaign. “I’m looking forward to the debate this September,” he said.

Blanche Lincoln Wins the Democratic Primary for her Senate seat in Arkansas!

The Dog is very Happy to be wrong…..

And is happy to see that the Democratic voters of Arkansas are smart enough to NOT have someone run… that absolutely had NO chance to win against Boozman in November…

The Dog salutes everyone…. including Daniel and myself who got this wrong!

My apologizes to Bill Clinton** who campaigned for her and finally got a win!

I might have got it wrong…

But I got it right…

Halter ran with Union, Progressive and left support….

I said it couldn’t be done…

It wasn’t…..

Damn Right!

Washington (CNN) – Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln has defeated Lt. Gov. Bill Halter in Tuesday’s Senate Democratic primary runoff, the Associated Press projects.

Democratic Senate primary runoff:
Blanche Lincoln (incumbent) – 112,811 51.7%
Bill Halter – 105,352 48.3%

80% of precincts reporting

*Vote totals compiled by the Associated Press

** The Dog just wasn’t thinking about Bill Clinton in Arkansas….This guy was FROM Arkansas……Duh!…

There’s a reason that Bill Clinton was making the closing argument for Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) just days before today’s runoff, while the senator has made strides to separate herself from President Obama.

This is Clinton country.

Yes, Clinton is from the state, but it also went hugely for his wife in the 2008 presidential primary — 70 percent to 26 percent to be exact. The state was one of Obama’s worst showings in the general election too.

Arkansas is an extreme example, but many 2010 battles are being waged in similar territory. In fact, a majority of top 2010 races are being held in districts and states where Obama struggled in the Democratic primary fight two years ago.

Much has been made of Republican efforts to win the four dozen (or so) Democratic-held districts where Obama lost to John McCain in 2008. But looking at places where Obama lost to Hillary Clinton can also be instructive when it comes to understanding how the President, who is not on the ballot this fall, will nonetheless impact the fight for congressional control.

According to a Fix analysis, of the 27 Democratic-held House seats and 10 Senate races listed as toss-ups by the Cook Political Report, Obama lost roughly half of each by wide margins to Clinton during the primary season.

Obama lost to Clinton in seven of the 10 states with top Senate races, and in about 60 percent of the top 27 House districts. Five of those states and 13 of those House districts went for Clinton by double digits.

Scott Brown wins the Mass Special Senate Seat!……

In a result that no one…I really mean …..no one could have forcasted…..Scott Brown, the Republican running for the Senate Seat held by the Teddy Kennedy…….has won…..

The Dog congratulates Scott Brown, the winner……

Martha Coakley the state’s Attorney General, and a Democrat…has managed to do what was done in the last two major races in New Jersey and Virgina…… she  literally threw the race away…….going vacation during the Holidays, making the Curt Shillings ‘Yankee’ mikstake…and not campaigning seriously until the last week…..( nevermind that Obama made the trip on Sunday….he did that in New Jersey, and Democrats lost that one also)

This from the Boston Globe……

Republican Scott Brown pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Massachusetts political history tonight, defeating Democrat Martha Coakley to become the state’s next United States senator and potentially derail President Obama’s hopes for a health care overhaul.

The victory caps a dramatic surge in recent days as Brown, a state lawmaker from Wrentham once thought to have little chance of beating a popular attorney general, roared ahead of Coakley to become the first Republican senator elected from Massachusetts since 1972.

With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Brown had 52 percent and Coakley had 47 percent.

In a race that became the center of national attention, Brown’s win is widely seen as a vote against the president’s agenda from one of the most reliably Democratic states. And in a particularly ironic twist, Brown, in succeeding Edward M. Kennedy — the late liberal lion who deemed health care “the cause of my life” — may well be the 41st vote to prevent the Democratic-led plan from moving forward.

While Republicans around the country may be excited….the Dog says this…….

ok… tonight…you  people sound like the Democrats right after Obama won….the Democrats are not going to table everything and just sit there with their thumbs up their you know what……

…..This is a message to one person…..

PRESIDENT OBAMA…He can no longer just cruise above the fray…he has to get his hands dirty….to sell his programs (starting with Healthcare) and providing cover for the troops in Congress…they can survive together..or they sink together….

Note:……here’s a link to th Boston Globe chrono……

Ah, this is another one Merlin the magician got right…in the end……nobody could grasp this one…and most of the pollster’s… hedgeed their bets……
