10 Years after 9/11 2001….New York City and the World will remember…..

 

It is with a heavy heart that I will get thru September 11, 2011…

For I knew personally some of the people who did not come home from that days events…

For that day 10 years ago my job was to comfort the children on the people who worked in New York City…

On that day my contribution was to assure those worried that their children were in a safe place….

I am happy to One World Trade Center rebuilt….

I spent passing time in the old one….

I pass on my prays to people who lost loved ones on that day in threelocations in America…

I pray for strength for the people who have to live with their loses…

And I hope that while some of us may complain about the coasts…

I can only hope that our Government and it’s actor will spare nothing to do what ever they can to make sure that 

NOTHING 

like this will EVER happen again….

New York City will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with a ceremony at the World Trade Center site on Sunday, when the nation pauses to grieve for the dead and reflect on the decade since terrorists toppled the Twin Towers, damaged the Pentagon and crashed a jetliner in rural Pennsylvania.

President Barack Obama and his predecessor, former President George W. Bush, will be among the eight current or former elected officials to deliver readings at the ceremony, which is set to begin at 8:35 a.m. with the sound of bagpipes and drummers. Mr. Obama, the first sitting president to attend the annual ceremony, gave the green light earlier this year for the military mission that killed Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the deadliest foreign attack on American soil.

While most of the attention will focus on New York’s ceremony, there will also be events at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, plus many smaller observances in communities across the country, from a stair climb in Seattle to a 9/11 memorial dedication in Sarasota, Fla.

On Saturday in Shanksville, Pa., the 40 passengers and crew who fought back against their hijackers aboard Flight 93 before it crashed on Sept. 11 were honored for their heroism in a ceremony dedicating the first phase of a memorial at the nation’s newest national park, the Associated Press reported.

The hijackers intended to crash the plane in Washington but “never made it because of the determination and valor of the passengers and crew of Flight 93, that plane crashed in this field, less than 20 minutes by air” from the target, said Jon Jarvis, director of the National Park Service, according to the AP.

Vice President Joe Biden and former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were among those attending the Shanksville event, the AP said.

The 10th anniversary also marks the official opening of the National September 11 Memorial—twin reflecting pools that sit within the footprints of the Twin Towers and feature bronze panels on which the names of the dead are inscribed. A 9/11 museum is scheduled to open at the World Trade Center site next September.

“As we reflect back on the past, let us remember not only the agony and anguish of the attacks but how we channeled our pain into something positive and powerful,” New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday in a speech about the rebirth of Lower Manhattan. “Let us remember not only how the towers fell, but how we rose up—determined to defend our freedoms.”

What do you do In The Country after you get rid of the bad guy Running the Country?

That seems to be a recurring theme for the US and NATO thru the years….

When that occurs…..

What’s gonna happen?

As we see in several countries …

Replacing the bad guy running the show creates a vacuum…

That creates unrest…

Unrealistic  expectations by the masses…..

And of course an oppountity by an organized opposition that often finds itself as the ONLY organized body…

All this the country has to continue running itself with with same corrupt people stealing from its population even if the head of the bad guy is gone….

So as in Iraq and Egypt….

What will happen in Libya when the time comes?

“Getting Libya back on its feet will be an unwieldy, and probably fractious, process in which many scores are settled against those who once supported the Gaddafi regime. But the problem is, of course, that much like in the former Soviet satellites in Eastern Europe, virtually everyone at one point or another had to deal with the regime to survive. Unless political authority can be restored quickly, the sorting out of claims will undoubtedly be a bloody affair in light of the pent-up frustration that is now being released.”

James Dorsey noted for Al Arabiya recently, “The immediate problems Libyans and the international community will have to address once Mr. Qaddafi departs are huge and so are the potential pitfalls. The problems include restoring and maintaining law and order; securing basic services such as food, water and energy; achieving international recognition of a post-Qaddafi government; resuming oil exports to ensure funding for the new government; and kick starting Libya’s stagnating economy.”

He noted, “Anticipating the need to maintain security, avoid violent revenge and retribution and ensure that a post-Qaddafi government gets off to a good start, some US commanders, including Admiral Samuel Locklear, NATO’s joint operations chief in Naples, and General Carter Ham, who runs the US military’s Africa Command, have suggested that United Nations or African Union peacekeepers would have to be inserted into Libya once Mr. Qaddafi has been removed from power.”

The parallels with Iraq are eerie. In his seminal work on that conflict, Fiasco, Thomas Ricks quotes Major Isaiah Wilson, the official Army historian of the spring 2003 invasion and later strategic planner in Iraq saying that there was “no single plan as of 1 May 2004 that described an executable approach to achieving the stated strategic endstate for war.” Joint Staff officer Gregory Gardner explained why: “Politically, we’d made a decision that we’d turn it over to the Iraqis in June” 2003. Additionally, an Army War College study found, what little planning there was for post-conflict stabilization was predicated on the unfounded assumption that “the international community would pick up the slack.”

Casey Anthony verdict….The media didn’t get it right…

My wife’s been following this case down in Orlando….

I haven’t until a few days ago….

Casey Anthony is a young mother who didn’t call authorities about here missing child for about 30 days…

The child’s body was found in bad shape…

The death was a mystery…

In fact to this day NO ONE know quite how the child died….

Oh, little Cayle Anthony was duct taped and drowned it’s reported….

Here’s the weird thing….

The child’s mother during this period went out a partied….

And then there is even more…

The grand parents of the child  (Casey mother and father)where looked at as possible ‘persons of interest’…

Her Dad is a ex-Homicide Detective…

There is also an old bot friend angle and more….

That’s a little background….

My wife and I discussed the case after it was sent to the jury over the July 4th weekend….

I watched two different talking heads yesterday….

So Defense lawyer on Fox who thought the case was a slam dunk for the Prosecution and 

Jane Velez Mitchell from CNN’s Court Channel…

The media outlets….

Virtually ALL of them where reporting that Casey Anthony was a done deal for a conviction on most …if not all of charges and was on trial for her life….

Somebody forgot to tell the jury that….

Hours ago the came back with NOT GUILTIES for….

Murder….

Manslaughter….

Felony Child Abuse…..

Valez Mitchell had been right….

The case presented by prosecutors didn’t sway the jury which came back with a verdict convicting Casey Anthony of lying to the cops….

That all….

Those are misdemeanors….

Which means with time served …..(Anthony has been in jail since her arrest. 3 years ago)..

She’ll be out of jail shortly….

I watched with amusement all the talking heads on several channel try to play off the fact that they just about ALL got this wrong….

Very wrong….

Listen from what I read and what my wife has told me….

Casey Anthony wasn’t the best mother in the world….

After the verdict her parents left the courtroom without saying a word….

A beautiful kid is gone in a horrible way….

And like it or not…

Casey Anthony DID time and was scared in the courtroom today…

Something bad happened to that child…

But….

The media clearly missed the train on this one….

There seemed to be so much circumstantial evidence and almost no direct evidence that Casey Anthony ….Or for that matter ANYONE hurt the child….

The media pushed for a conviction….

The jury had the last word….

The office of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), who has been undergoing medical treatment since she was shot in the head at a district event this past January, has nowreleased onto Facebook the first official photos of the Congresswoman since the incident.

The photos were taken on May 17, the day before she underwent a cranioplasty surgery to replace part of her skull with a plastic implant. One of the photos is a solo picture of Giffords, facing the camera and smiling. The other shows the Congresswoman accompanied by her mother, Gloria Giffords, and both smiling.

Probably a real good idea….

Though I think going on a talk program with his wife would be better..

He needs some breathing room…

And the rehab treatment thing plays good….And he’s gotta learn to be a one woman man…

A couple of weeks off for the rest of the stuff to come  out might be a good idea also….

The media is in a feeding frenzy…..

The guy IS taking a beating…..

And there probably is more out there…

Rep Anthony Weiner (D-NY) will leave Congress temporarily to tend to his personal life, a spokeswoman for the Congressman, Risa Heller told TPM on Saturday. The move falls short of a resignation, which Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and a group of top Democratic officials publicly demanded earlier the same day.

“Congressman Weiner departed this morning to seek professional treatment to focus on becoming a better husband and healthier person,” the statement reads. “In light of that, he will request a short leave of absence from the House of Representatives so that he can get evaluated and map out a course of treatment to make himself well. Congressman Weiner takes the views of his colleagues very seriously and has determined that he needs this time to get healthy and make the best decision possible for himself, his family and his constituents.”….More.….

 

 

America Will Be Coffee Colored By 2030…The Oligarch Kings….

The map at the top of the post is showing how many people are “of color” in America and where they are living.  It is part of a series of maps which  show the increase in the numbers and distribution of these said “people of color”.

It shows how, perhaps, non whites will be the majority in the United States by 2030.  Naturally this has been blown up by various sites, and some newspapers like the British Daily Mail that really ought to know better. All are basically reworking the old “yellow peril” nonsense of yesteryear, purporting directly or just subtly to show how the white man is being bred out of “his” country.  Now you see, I don’t think it shows anything of the kind.  What it shows is something really very healthy in America.  The falling away of racial hypocrisy.

America had, even when I was a boy, an appalling attitude to black people and arguably an even worse one to those who were of mixed race. Despite laws being in place which said all people are born equal, black people and those “of color” could not use the same restaurants, drink from the same taps, eat at the same restaurants or sit at the front of a bus.  America still practised apartheid every bit as rabid and vile as South Africa. As for job opportunities forget it.

The map here shows the states that would not sanction mixed race marriages, which they called “miscegenation” well into the sixties.  The last seventeen states (yes 17!) only relenting after being dragged kicking and screaming into the nineteenth century by  Loving v Virginia 388 US1 1967.  You can bet those states would do their level best to arrange statistics of mixed race peoples as advantageously as possible.  Check those seventeen from this map to the top map.

How did you know if you were black?  Well the slightest hint of a heavy tan, or curly hair was best avoided.  Hair strengtheners and skin whitening creams were there for those that needed it. The “one drop rule” reigned supreme.  This loathsome doctrine ascribed a black outcome to any person who had down to one sixteenth black ancestry, condemning them to sit at the back of the bus of life forever.   Worst of all this rule was never some hangover of a benighted past, but was a product of the enlightened twentieth century……

The President brings up Immigration Reform to a captive crowd…He can’t do it alone though….

Certainly aware of the new Census numbers ….

The President of the United States talked up Immigration Reform….

The problem is…

With the GOP as the majority in the House…

There isn’t a prayer for any such bill’s passage…

Really….

The best way for any bill passing to reform immigration would be for Latino’s and Hispanic’s along will ALL the other people who immigrate to this country to vote against GOPer’s and Democrats who don’t support immigration legislation’s passage in 2012….

Once those people have been defeated or won in narrow races…

THEN the President should press for passage of a bill….

I do not need to bring up the fate of the ‘Dream Act’ which galvanized strong negative reaction from the right in both the Republican AND Democratic party….

The fate of Immigration Legislation is tied up in simple politics…

As the SouthWest begins to cool down with the realization that eventually Latino’s will out number Anglo’s….

The politics will eventually change…

How soon is anyones guess…

But blaming the President simply is NOT going to solve the problem…

He can’t do it alone….

President Obama told a gathering of business, labor, religious and political leaders at the White House on Tuesday that he remains committed to an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws and wants to try again in the coming months to push Congress to pass a bill.

With his re-election campaign launched this month and Latino communities growing increasingly frustrated with his immigration policies, Mr. Obama summoned more than 60 high-profile supporters of the stalled overhaul legislation to a strategy session, looking for ways to revive it. Among those attending were MayorMichael R. Bloomberg of New York, an independent; Mayor Julian Castro of San Antonio, a Democrat; and former Gov.Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, a Republican.

Two big-city police chiefs, Raymond W. Kelly of New York and Charles Ramsey of Philadelphia, were there, as was Sheryl Sandberg, a top executive at Facebook, and Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals, the largest group of evangelical Christians.

Prospects for the proposed policy, which would grant legal status to millions of illegal immigrants and revamp the immigration system, seem bleak in this Congress, with staunch Republican opponents of the bill controlling pivotal committee positions in the House of Representatives. Recently Latino leaders have stepped up their criticism of Mr. Obama, as deportations have reached record numbers under his administration and he has offered no relief from the crackdown on immigrant communities.

Latino voters helped several Democrats, including Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, survive the Republican shift in the midterm elections last fall, and they are expected to be a major force in the presidential vote next year.

In the closed meeting, Mr. Obama argued that the overhaul would bring immigrant entrepreneurs to the United States and was a crucial piece of the economic recovery, according to several people who attended…..

The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia (2009)…A Film…

My wife told me about a film she had started to watch yesterday on cable….

She was bothered about the family portrayed in the film….

And quite frankly she found the whole film disquieting…

So I look up the film a few minutes ago when she saw it come up on the Channelguide…

The film ( which my wife has seen a bit of….is about a Outlaw family that seems to have notoriety of the Wild West rolled into one..)

“The Wild and Wonderful Whites,” a sequel of sorts to “Dancing Outlaw,” spends a year with Jesco and his mother, sisters, nieces, nephews and other friends and relations, following them into and out of prisons, hospitals, rehab centers and a good many nights of drinking, pot-smoking and prescription drug abuse. A side trip is made to Minnesota, where Poney White, Jesco’s only surviving brother, has escaped with his children into middle-class normalcy, making his living as a house painter and expressing relief to be far from Boone County.

Back there, an anthology of country standards unfolds in real life and real time: murder ballads, cheating songs and rebel hollers, with an occasional pause for fatalistic spiritual meditation. The Whites — in particular the three generations ofwomen who are the movie’s most compelling and complicated characters — are not shy in front of the camera, and their forthrightness quiets, at least temporarily, the queasy sense of exploitation that hangs around the film.

It is hard to know just what to think of these people, whose unabashed recklessness might make you envious even as you shake your head in appalled amazement at their disregard for every conceivable societal norm. But one thing is certain, and is in a way the whole point of this fascinating and problematic documentary: The Whites don’t care what you or anyone else thinks of them…….
