Jerry Brown…..The Practical Politcian…..

Top cop

In his race for Governor……

Again….

Brown, 72 years young.and The California Attorney General ….is falling back on his ability to see where he wants to go…

Without  a rigid idelogy……unlike some politicians…

This has always made it easier for him to deal with things and people……

And he’s out there runnin……..

And the Dog says ……

Amen!

Across more than four decades of holding or seeking public office, one of the defining characteristics of Jerry Brown has been political flexibility: an admirable lack of ideological rigidity to his admirers, a failure of political principle to his detractors. His four-year term as the state’s attorney general has underscored that quality.

Brown has sided with prosecutors over civil libertarians, made gun control advocates wary, encouraged those who want to limit civil lawsuits and disappointed some consumer activists. On those issues, he has surprised liberals, some of whom suggest that his positions have been politically calculated toward a run for governor.

At the same time, he has also taken the relatively rare step of challenging two voter-approved laws in court, Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriage and Proposition 209, limiting affirmative action. The California Supreme Court unanimously dismissed the novel legal theory Brown advanced against the marriage ban. On affirmative action, the court is considering Brown’s argument that in certain cases, Proposition 209 might violate the U.S. Constitution.

Brown, 72, bristles at the suggestion that he has been inconsistent. His performance as attorney general shows that he is “very open-minded” and receptive to others’ views, he said in an interview. “Knee-jerk ideology doesn’t impress me much.”

But those who have followed him for decades said Brown has long been defined by a willingness to change his mind.

“When circumstances change, Jerry will change,” said Bob Stern, president of the Center for Governmental Studies, who worked for Brown three decades ago in the secretary of state’s office. “You have to give him some credit for that, but at the same time, people get frustrated because they don’t know where he will be.”

Analysis:

This is BIG. Mason-Dixon confirming RAS. It really looks like Crist is in the lead here. I’m not that all surprised. We’ll see how long this will last. Nevertheless WE NOW HAVE A FIGHT on our hands. Let’s stand up. Donate to Marco. We can’t allow the Flip-Flopper to take away OUR SENATE SEAT.

Daniel G.

The Dog will now concede that baring anything major…this race is between Rubio and Crist…..

The Dog can live with a Crist win…Sorry Kendrick…..CD was right…you have no chance……..
A warning Here…..Crist is likely to a line himself with the Democrats if he wins………

Daniel…… Election 2012 New Hampshire: Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) leads VERY FIRST New Hampshire Presidential Primary Survey……

Hello Dog Folks!

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) is the Frontrunner in the VERY FIRST Survey of the Granite State according to Public Policy Polling if he choses to run in two years time.

Public Policy Polling Survey

Republican Presidential Nomination

New Hampshire Primary

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney  39 %
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin  13 %
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee  11 %
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich  11 %
Texas Congressman Ron Paul  7 %
Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty  3 %
Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour  1 %
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum  1 %
Undecided  13 %

Analysis:

VERY INTERESTING Results indeed. Never thought Palin would be near the Front in New Hampshire.

Daniel G.

The Dog is not surprised at all…In just about every preference poll in the last 6 months he leads..not by much…but he’s the front runner…..

My feeling is Sarah Palin is a media character…Not really in the running since she would be the first Female for the GOP and don’t think most of the leaders of the party would seriously consider a female first..and her second…..

I caution everyone…..in the last few elections American’s tend to pick young…and untested National males to lead the country….Obama, Bush II and Clinton fit that mold….Romany does not……

Add to that the fact that Romney has a moderate history……

And  I hate to mention it..but there’s the Mormon thing that will come up if he lasts as the GOP leader of the pack…..

More to come…..

Thanks Daniel……

Oh, yea…I didn’t mention Healthcare and the fact that NH is close to Mass………

No Playboy for Kate……

Kate Gosselin is the second Gosselin rejected from the porno business.

This story a win – win for both Kate and Hugh Heftener….

She’s already said she wouldn’t do the magazine…..and Heftner gets his Magazine in the headlines……

I must say…..for a woman who’s had five kids at once…..

She looks damn good…….

She does need to work on the attitude thing though…….

(The Frisky) — Kate Gosselin has had some tough blows this year and Hugh Hefner has dealt her another one.

When asked if there was any possibility that Momzilla would grace the glossy covers of Playboy, Hef said, “No! No!” And the original playboy added insult to injury by suggesting he doesn’t even know why she’s on “Dancing with the Stars.”

He explained, “I don’t think she’s a celebrity.” She is the second Gosselin rejected from the porno business. It must hurt to hear that no one wants to check out your goody basket.

Note.….the CNN caption for the above picture aludes to being in Playboy as being in the ‘porno’ business?  Say what???

A whole lot of famous females have done the Playboy cover and spreads with out showing much their , ah……assets…..

Rep. Brad Ellsworth (Ind-D) will consider running for Evan Bayh’s Senate seat in Indiana……

This from The Hill.…..

Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-Ind.) said today he will consider running to replace retiring Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.).

In a statement released shortly after Bayh announced his decision, Ellsworth said he will discuss the matter with his family before making a decision.

“I heard about the news during my annual Open Door Listening Tour this morning, and I appreciate the support of those Hoosiers who have already encouraged me to run for Senator Bayh’s seat,” Ellsworth said. ”

“The next step will be taking a few days to talk to my wife and to folks in Indiana about where I can best serve our state. In the meanwhile, I will continue to travel throughout the 8th District this week listening to Hoosiers about the challenges they face and their ideas for getting our economy back on track.”

Ellsworth will almost certainly not be able to gather enough signatures to qualify for the ballot by tomorrow’s noon deadline, but he could be chosen by the Indiana Democratic Party after the deadline has passed.

Ellsworth, a former sherriff, is a centrist, pro-life Democrat who was first elected to Congress in 2006. He was re-elected in 2008 with 64% of the vote.

This from Merlin…..

Hi Dog!

It seems Congressman Brad Ellsworth (D-IN Eigth) is the early Frontrunner to be picked as Democratic Nominee for the November Election CNN & MSNBC reporting though an Official Statement hasn’t been made.

Indiana Democrats have until June 30th to pick their Candidate.

Merlin on Barbara Boxer’s California Senate race……

Hi Dog!

A new Statewide Survey in the Goden State shows Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer (D) may very well have the Race of her Political Life in 2010. She is well under 50 % and barely leads her Republican Challengers.

Rasmussen Survey

California Senate 2010

Boxer, Fiorina and Campbell……..

Incumbent Senator Barbara Levy Boxer (D)  45 %
former U. S. Rep. Tom Campbell (R)  41 %
Others  4 %
Undecided  10 %

Incumbent Senator Barbara Levy Boxer (D)  46 %
Businesswoman Carly Fiorina (R)  42 %
Others  7 %
Undecided  5 %

Incumbent Senator Barbara Levy Boxer (D)  47 %
State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R)  42 %
Others  4 %
Undecided  10 %

Job Approvals

President Obama

Approve  58 %
Disapprove  41 %

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R)

Approve  27 %
Disapprove  72 %

Merlin’s Observation:

Despite a horrible JA from the “Governator” and decent Numbers from the President Senator Boxer’s Numbers are pretty underwhelming. That should be concerning.

Merlin

This from Rasmussen on the race…….

The Democratic-leaning political gravity of California will certainly give Senator Boxer a boost in that effort.”

Boxer leads former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina 46% to 42%, virtually unchanged from January. Another seven percent (7%) would vote for some other candidate, while five percent (5%) are undecided. Boxer led Fiorina by nine points in November and 10 points in September.

The incumbent also holds a four-point lead over former Congressman Tom Campbell, 45% to 41%. Four percent (4%) like another candidate, and 10% are undecided. Boxer held the same lead over Campbell, just after he joined the race in January.

The fact that Boxer’s support has been stuck in the mid-40s for several surveys no matter which Republican she is matched against continues to suggest that the race for now is about her rather than about those who are running against her.

Merlin on the Washington State’s Senate race…..

Hello Dog!

A new Statewide Survey in the Evergreen State shows that longterm Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) maybe vulnerable this year. Murray is barely over the 50 % Mark at which Incumbents considered to be vulnerable. She also leads 3 3rd Tier Opponents by double digits. However she trails ’04 & ’08 Republican Governor Candidate Dino Rossi (R) by 2 Points.

Rasmussen Survey

Washington Senate 2010

Murray and Rossi

’04 & ’08 GOP Governor Nominee Dino Rossi (R)  48 %
Incumbent Senator Patricia “Patty” Lynn Murray (D)  46 %
Others  1 %
Undecided  5 %

Incumbent Senator Patricia “Patty” Lynn Murray (D)  50 %
State Senator Don Benton (R)  38 %
Others  3 %
Undecided  9 %

Incumbent Senator Patricia “Patty” Lynn Murray (D)  49 %
former NFL Professional Clint Didier (R)  34 %
Others  4 %
Undecided  13 %

Incumbent Senator Patricia “Patty” Lynn Murray (D)  48 %
Businessman Chris Widener (R)  33 %
Others  5 %
Undecided  14 %

Job Approvals

President Obama

Approve  51 %
Disapprove  48 %

Governor Christine Gregoire (D)

Approve  41 %
Disapprove  57 %

Full Results at Rasmussen Reports.com

Merlin’s Observation:

Murray holding barely over 50 % against unknown Opponents isn’t good. Obama is barely over water in the State & Governor Gregoire with a dismal 41 % JA. The Republicans should play here.

Merlin

From the Dog…..Murray is really cruisin here….

This from Rasmussen…..

‘Certainly the best-known of the Republicans, Rossi attracts 48% of the vote in a match-up with Murray while the incumbent earns 46%. One percent (1%) like another candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

But Rossi, despite encouragement from many Republicans, says so far that he’s not interested in running for the Senate.’

So Rasmussen is polling a GOP person that isn’t a candidate.…….
